I think it's more about the limitation on what you can do scenario wise
if the real world is your map, you can't do whatever you want
since people actually have to move
it's really hard to think of a way to make a legit game like that

If you put the money and time to develop the game, you want it to be actually playable
And AR is just a gimmick that entertain for a while and then you get bored of it
And if you relly on the players to actually do stuff with one another
the less people that are willing to play, the less it work
So you gotta find a scenario, a way to make the game be playable as a regular game and have extra neet AR stuff on the side
(in my opinion)
But if the all game is focus on AR, then you can't make something good

So, I never got around to playing any Zelda game ever, but I'll be playing some soon. I don't think I will play all of them, maybe like 2-3 depending on how long they are. Anyone got any recommendations which one I should play? This is the list i will be choosing from most likely, but feel free to recommend other games.

Game design wise, if they are all like ocarina of time they will be not that good. Be aware.
Like, at one point I lost like 30 minute searching for something because I missed it in the cut scene. In another time I spend hours searcher for what to do. the game only talked about a specific village and I didn't find what to do in it. I had to look up at the answer on the internet.. Turns out you could do an action that was never shown to you before and kinda had to guess it was possible..

as someone whos played all zelda games religiously id recomend playing a link to the past first. its a good introductory to the games 2d mechanics.

Ocarina of times another good introductory, and more important it paves the way to majoras mask (the best one mechanics gameplay and storywise. of all zelda games)
windwakers a cute game but can get long with all sailing. personally i loved it but had to take long breaks during the triforce chart part.
First game is super dated but intresting from the view of someone looking to get into gaming history i guess.
if you can find a way to get twilight princess for the gamecube that would be your best bet, its "edgier" then most zelda games but it takes all the best part of ocarina of time and improves on the worst parts
not all of them are like ocarina of time dont worry, also i know exactly whjay part youre talking about with the Ocarina falling into the river
if u want diffrent unique mechanics play breath of the wild, the most unique one of the games but ngl kinda welcoming at thsi point
but yeah for the most part zelda is a dungeon crawler with some cute overworld stuff
except majoras mask which dosent focus on dungeons as much and more of a timetravel mechanic that is super well done and intresting
unlike ocarina of time where its just a shift between two diffrent maps in the game

yeah, you're right. i've seen many isekai, including the ones you mentioned, so maybe thats why i just can't stand the typical "hey you're in a videogame bruh" isekai anymore.
i feel the same about the .. "classical" shounen, stuff that mimics the big3 dragonball, one piece and naruto. for some reason its getting kind of old (and i dont think that comes only from me getting literally too old for shonen aka young boy anime). BHA, A Promised Neverland and Mob Psycho 100 are much more creative and enjoyable to watch (and also better made, even compared to the more popular animes.. it is season based though, so i guess thats to be expected).

no game no life, konosuba, saga of tanya the evil, spirited away (thats a movie though), overlord (atleast season 1 and maybe 2) and some that i liked when they came out but not sure if i would like them now like re:zero and sao

i'm watching alot of older shows right now and skip most of the new stuff after 1 episode or dont even bother starting it because i feel like i've seen everything.. which is obviously not true, but that's how it feels like.
