Then there is popular bad music, think of "dance monkey" by Tones and I. People hear it, go "meh this aint great", then they are forced to hear it multiple times a week for a year. the "meh this aint great" then turns into "fuck this awful song"

The same goes for movies and series, a movie can be bad - but popular. It gets integrated into social conversations, ads, etc. the "dislike" then becomes a "hate".

So yes, there are many popular things people hate.
