You know? Whenever a story says "Death has a day off" or whatever... Death only ever applies to the macroscopic world, and everything else keeps functioning just like normal.
But if there was literally no death... bacteria does not die. White blood cells can't break anything down... or maybe they can, and they persist as "still living" cells? That gets real fucking funky, if you aren't saying "everything is perfectly invulnerable to any manipulation," which is just stasis.
If the bacteria couldn't die from the toxins they (or your body) produce, the heat, nor lack of food... it might take a while until a strain of bacteria arises that ignores all other restraints on duplication and just pumps out immortal carpets of bacteria.
And that's just one small aspect of the microscopic world.
Imagine if the most deadly, horrific disease possible no longer killed its hosts. That's... just not good.
When Death finally comes back after his vacation.... he's going to have a lot of cleaning up to do.
