Sometimes when something gets a bad rep or suddenly the partner doesn't agree with the other party's changes they don't want their contributions to be visible.
But at the same time, you've already agreed in spriter agreement that your art that you've contributed that it will be public domain and will be used accordingly. That "stupid agreement" basically is a means of negotiation like "hey, I can make your art be put at the game, but your art will be used publically, if you don't like that, I think you should not agree to this and move on" I mean that's like you're donating to charity and expecting them to pay you back when things go south. You've already agreed that the sprites you make here is going to be public.
