That's the straw that break the camels back. Nintendo wanted a new smash game. So they approached Sakurai and say "either you make another smash game or we will remake Melee smash with online compatibility". Sakurai somehow knows that they'll fuck up the smash brand by just remaking melee so he went of with their terms and said "fine, but this is the last one"

I would imagine the melee remake would just be smash ultimate with even more paid dlc to unlock all characters. It's a reality I couldn't imagine.

Imagine instead of fun new characters to play as from the dlc, they'll make old characters like snake to be dlc like sheesh
