One of the best ways to help new players understand resources in DnD is to buy color-coded marbles to give them while playing. I use blue for spell slots, red for Warlock spell slots, green for Action Surge, and so on.

I dare any insane enough to try it. We called it Coupon Commando. Instead of magic items and skills, I gave my players Coupons that allowed them to add anything to the game. From their head or other franchises whatever. There were several types like a weapon coupon could add well, a weapon. You need to toss all rules aside for this and learn how to respond to someone sending the entire party through space and time into the back rooms while fighting the dark magician from yugioh with a happy meal forged in heaven in 2 whole seconds. This was a real scenario that happened-

I’d recommend not using the same deck for DnD as you do for readings, though.

Most modern decks come with little booklets that explain the basics and what the cards mean. Just make sure that

A) the deck you get feels right. That’s priority one.

B) You get a full 78 card deck, not a 20 card “High Card” deck that only has major arcana
