Joker is honestly an overdone villain, and I'm sick of seeing him which sucks because generally he's integral to a long-going Batman story. Batman Unburied perfectly showcases how good something which lacks him can be though, with my personal favourite adaptation of the Riddler, use of Poison Ivy (with an explored backstory) as a villain in season 1 and utilising a villain who rides the line between pleasant and awful with an ASMR-like voice being used by a gorey serial killer. All of which I feel would only be weakened by the introduction of a Joker (in fact my personal preference for a season 2 villain would be Mr Freeze, I think they'd do him perfectly, especially from an audio experience perspective)

In short, Joker needs something new and fresh to make him enjoyable and surprising again, something that'll really shock audiences and turn the whole Joker experience on its head

I would do this by having him use the term "everypony" as a substitute for Everyone of Everybody

Poofing is like being knocked unconscious for a long time

And it could well happen if a gem was, say, punched in the face by someone who can break planets in half

I don't hate her new animation, but the poofing was more interesting to me (if a tad poorly animated the colours on it felt weird but to be fair in the scene it's based off they're all bathed in green light)

Personally I like the idea of varied losing animations, and I think a good halfway point could be having her unfuse into Ruby and Sapphire because the two of them are upset

Like yeah, realistically the Here Comes a Thought based one is the most canon because that's how she'd deal with stress, but compared to the other ideas it's just kinda boring

Plus I resent the idea that characters shouldn't have more violent losing animations I want a game to end and it cuts to LeBron just knocked out cold

5+ seasons into it
But it's clear they just didn't have the time to do anything, so just shattering them would work way better instead of forcing the redemption to happen in just a few episodes
They had a whole season just for redeeming a random goon, you need exponentially more than that for the main villains
Instead they just kinda, did it, immediately, with no fanfare, as if checking off a checklist

To me it's just obvious they had to cut the whole series in half
So everything in the last arc was as rushed and forced as possible

With them just doing as much as they wanted to do in the future but without any build up or structure

Had them changed plans and given up the diamond redemption stuff and just shattered them or at least bubbled them forever till they have some kinda mega-safe prison/rehab facility setup in the far future or whatever, then the show would still be rushed, but at least it wouldn't be stupid and unrealistic

Even if I feel bad that they definitively only had to cancel the show and rush the finale out cuz of executive meddling after the gay wedding

That's just it! With how they set the Diamonds up it can't work. Which is why when people argue that it's ONLY poorly written due to them being rushed, it's still a stupid argument, because the Diamonds were set up as irredeemable monsters. Even their sympathetic angle is them missing their family member who they neglected and mistreated and helped turn into kind of a horrible person.

If they had had to rush it, I would much rather have killed them off and had the arcs following in Future focus on the power vacuum and Steven feeling guilty over their ENTIRELY JUSTIFIED deaths

But their handling of the Diamonds, even within the movie and Future is bad across the board

For god's sake, the Diamonds are equally at fault for Spinel's abandonment and they get to look after her because what, they vibe?

Spinel's trauma happens to align with the sadness they feel over the fucked up absence of their family member

And as you said, it's not that I don't feel bad for the people making the show

But their attempt at making the Diamonds sympathetic villains came long before the end of the series, and they really set them up as far too awful to justify it

Tho I still don't see the redemption part being 100% completely out of question if they had a lot of time and effort to put into it

In writing there are rarely bad ideas, even if something looks like it would never work, there are still an infinity of different ways they could have done it

Even if the diamonds are as bad as they possibly could be, some arc where they are properly defeated, punished, nullified of power, and finally redeemed could have worked, it just would've taken more than the 20 minutes they had, as well as a tone and consequences significantly heavier than they were seemingly willing to do

Say, for example, trapping the diamonds in powerless forms, forcing them to live as low class gems, or developing technology to keep them in check and force them to do some heavy lifting in steven's projects in homeworld, all of those scenarios leading to them eventually coming to see his way as better by hands-on life experiences mixed with just a little pink diamond bias

Of course, just shattering them would also work, and also would've been just inherently easier and cleaner in almost every way

I just wouldn't say what they did would not work ever in a million years no matter how hard they tried

I see it as extremely refreshing. Authors should put as many stereotypes in their media as they want.
It is true that some stereotypes are considered offensive but enjoying the certain edge that it gives media can be quite fun. I can't help but chuckle seeing grossly stereotypical German/American characters - it's funny and some of the stereotypes there are definitely grounded in reality. I don't see how it is different from portraying other stereotypes as well.

You tend to see more people that enjoy seeing their culture represented in media even if it's through stereotypes and jokes, but the problems come when it becomes inherently negative and mean-spirited

The classic example is speedy gonzales, he's a walking (sprinting) stereotype made by gringos but mexico loved him

Because beyond the stereotypes he's still heroic and competent, he's someone people can project pride from

Like, there's no real defence at all for the Puri-Puri Prisoner one, but Superalloy's dark skin is based on an actual thing with horrible spraytans that bodybuilders have. In the murata comic, this is actually more clear but in the original webcomic and the anime, they give him white lips...

And as I said before, eventually you do have to reach the conclusion that this is a grown man we're talking about with connections all around the world because of his work.
