oh if you try to fuse azumarill with something like rampardos for high base attack and huge power, you actually get huge power as a base ability in azumarill as body fusions, and those use mostly azumarill's mid base attack, while azumarill as head fusions use the body pokemon's attack and can have thick fat from azumarill or the other pokemon's second ability (in rampardos case thick fat is its only base ability tho)

I ain't searching the fusion dex site but as a rough guess I say mimikyu and kangaskhan can be fused with everything because the mimikyu wears the cloth for every mon in the game and kangaskhan fused with anything becomes that mon but with the baby version in the mother pouch like real kangaroos do

Also on your first Playthrough, you’re limited to Classic mode, and the Kanto starters. So if you want Totodile (or random and Remix mode) do the following:

• save at the earliest convenience
• return to title

If you want a practical answer on which is more useful, I'd say it depends on what you're after. Normal/Ghost is the better defensive type, and that HP buff offsets the drop in defenses enough where I'd say it has overall better bulk. But Ground/Normal is an incredible offensive type combo, assisted nicely by that fusions better Attack and Speed.
Ultimately, it comes down both to what benefits your play style more and also just... Whichever one you like more. If you're just doing single player, the game is perfectly accommodating for whatever team you wanna build
