Sprite-gallery & Assets-gallery

By posting a sprite to #sprite-gallery, you understand and agree to the following:

Etiquette

  • You must ALWAYS post your sprites to #1050404143807873157 before posting them to the gallery. Not doing so may lead to your Spriter role being removed.
  • When posting your sprites, ensure your images are named correctly in the format of headnum.bodynum ex; 123.456.
  • Do not add random letters to your numbers. If posting a variant within the same month, ensure you name the variant with the next letter alphabet. ex; You posted 123.456 and made a variant, 123.456a.
  • When posting your sprites, ensure you write a message with them in the format of headname/bodyname (headnum.bodynum) ex; Scyther/Hawlucha (123.456).
  • If you used a custom base, you must include [Pokémon name] Base by [artist] in your message.
  • If you used concept art, you must include Concept art by [artist] in your message.
  • If the sprite is a collab, you must include Collab with in your message.
  • Do not use assets or art outside of the #asset-gallery or #spriting-resources without explicit permission from the original artist. You may be asked for proof of permission by members of the Staff team at any time and being unable to provide requested proof may lead to your Spriter role being removed.
  • Do not post multiple sprites in one post, even if they're variants of the same sprite. This could result in sprites not being added to the spritepacks.
#

Game Usage

  • Your sprite may be added to the game and sprite packs, even if the gallery post is deleted later. This includes custom base sprites, sprite assets, UI assets, overworld assets and misc other assets.
  • Your sprite may not be added to the game or sprite packs if a Sprite Manager finds it to be inappropriate for the game. This includes custom base sprites, sprite assets, UI assets, overworld assets and misc other assets.
  • Your sprite may be used in IF-related content, such as the Discord tags, Spriting-guidelines, the Wiki, server banner, promotional content or IF fansites.
  • You grant other users permission to use your base sprites, sprite assets and misc assets in their own sprites for the game.

Base & Asset Credits

  • When using custom bases or custom assets made by other users, you are required to include credits in your #sprite-gallery post. Credits should look like "[Pokémon name] base by @[user]"
    • Bases credits are not required for Game Freak, Smogon, or The DS-style 64x64 Pokémon Sprite Resource.
      • If a sprite is credited to both Game Freak and another artist, you still must credit the other artist. Same goes for the other two examples.
    • If you created a base that was not credited, please report it to Sprite Managers via ping or DMs.
  • Refusing to properly credit a base or concept art after being asked will lead to your #sprite-gallery post being deleted if you don't edit your post within 72 hours. Repeated offenses may lead to a Spriter role removal.

Mains & Alts

Main sprites are the ones that are used by default in the game. Alt sprites are alternative sprites that can be swapped in the Pokédex but will not be shown on first encounter in game. Temp sprites are considered Mains if there is not another Main sprite available. The status of all sprites are listed in the Credits Sheet.

  • Your sprites status as a Main or an Alt is done at the discretion of Sprite Managers. For more information on what qualifies as a Main and what would otherwise be an Alt, please refer to the Mains & Alts section of the Spriting-guidelines. The list of criteria that makes a sprite an Alt may change in the future with or without notice.
  • You may request the status of any sprite to be changed to any other status with the Sprite Status Appeal Form found in #server-forms. A Sprite Manager will review the appeal and approve or deny the request. You will not be notified that your appeal has been reviewed, however you may check this sheet to see if your appeal has been reviewed with a decision. Do not make a #sprite-error report for these!

Edits, Replacements and Deletion

  • Sprite Managers may re-number your sprite if they find your sprite to be a better fit for a different fusion or if it was mistakenly misnumbered.
  • Sprite managers may edit your sprite or allow it to be edited by others without warning if your sprite is found to have errors, ends up in #sprite-errors, or breaks the rules of the server. (e.g. removing NSFW elements, or fixing errors).
#
  • Your sprite may be removed at any point, if a Sprite Manager finds it to be inappropriate for the game or does not respect the Spriting-guidelines.
  • You may make a replacement for your own older sprites at any point. Please make a post in #1052360360172199977 to request this.
  • Old versions of replaced sprites may be kept as a variant at a Sprite Managers discretion.
  • You may request that some of your sprites be removed from the game. Please make a post in #1052360360172199977 to request this.
    • You may request that all or the majority of your sprites be removed from the game. Please use the Spriter Role Whitdrawal Form in #server-forms for that. Your Spriter role will be removed, as well as any sprite completion vanity roles (Pokéfan, etc). Event winner roles will remain. You will be given the "Withdrawn Artist" role instead. To prevent any of your future work ending up in the game, you will no longer be able to post in #1050404143807873157, #1263858526829416539, #is-my-sprite-ready, #spriting-discussion and #1110678444896964628. #1134483288703119361, #become-a-staff-helper and event channels will be hidden as well. You will also not be permitted to do any collaborations with other artists.
    • For any removals of collaborative sprites, you must have the approval of all other collaborators (other spriters and/or concept artists). Other people's sprites made using a base or asset you made do not count as collabs. If any of the collaboration artists does not wish for the sprite to be removed, you can still replace your credit with "Anonymous" so that you are not credited for the sprite.

Spritework

By posting a sprite to #1050404143807873157, you understand and agree to the following:

Etiquette

  • Always title your spritework threads with the fusion name and numbers. ex; Scyther/Hawlucha (123.456).
  • Do not delete your initial message in the spritework thread.
  • You must wait at least 18 hours prior after posting your sprites into spritework before posting into the #sprite-gallery, regardless of if you believe you have received sufficient feedback.
  • If you are found to be posting your sprites prior to the 18 hour mark, a Swablu helper or Sprite Manager may ask you to remove the sprite from the #sprite-gallery or do it for you.
  • Repeatedly breaking this rule may result in the removal of your Spriter role.

Spriting Guidelines

Feedback

  • You must be open to feedback from other users who take the time to critique your sprites and take it graciously. Do not be hostile to people trying to help you improve, please. smilemeowth
  • You don't have to implement design suggestions, such as changing a color or using different features in your design unless those features do not respect the Spriting-guidelines.
  • Feedback about technical aspects, such as half-pixels, missing outlines, and other major errors listed in Sprite-errors should be implemented to the best of your ability.
  • "If you are giving feedback as a Spriter, you must be able to give feedback with patience and tact. Do not start arguments because someone isn't listening to feedback. If a Spriter is being aggressive or cannot accept critique, please bring it to the attention of a Moderator or Sprite Manager.
