From the Secret Forest, you can then enter the Viridian River where depending which tile you enter from, you will find different sets of starters as an overworld encounter. You'll hear a sound cue if an overworld encounter spawns when you enter the area.

You don't need to randomize, you can get all pokemons in the default mode

You can get a mime jr. and a hoothoot in the first route too, so it's not just gen 1, but you get more variety as you progress further.

So I'm playing standard mode, but with randomized 1st-lvl starters.

I've gotten 3 badges and have just made it to celadon city. Pokemon are in the low to mid 30d right now

That being said, the last time I battled my rival, I noticed his starter (Azurill/Klink) is evolving out of order.

One would believe Azurill(head) would hit all of its evos before Klink(body) would evolve, since Azurill evolves at 15, then 18. While Klink doesn't hit its first evo until 38.

However, his Starter has so far evolved in this order.

Starter: Azurill/Klink
1st-evo: Azurill/Klang
2nd-evo: Marill/Klang

Sooo... what gives? Is this a bug? Or is there something to the order inwhich your rivals starter evolves that is somehow different than natural progression?

The evolutions are based on how the normal rival team evolves in the non-randomised modes as far as I know.

Technically with his starter (Azurill/klink)
The head should have evolved twice before the body evolved once. But so far his mons 1st evolution was on the body first and then the second was on the head.

I'll say it again with an example since you didn't understand it.
In the non-randomised modes, the rival's body evolves first for nugget bridge's fight (squirtle/charmeleon for example).
On the SS Anne, the head evolved (wartortle/charmeleon)
No change in pokemon tower.
In Silphco, the body evolved again (wartortle/charizard).
In route 22, the head evolved again (blastoise/charizard).

What you described follows the same patern.

It is the same for re-battles against trainers, they evolve after specific amounts of battles and not based on level, which can lead to weird evolutions as well in randomised mode.

Below is how to apply NEW customizations to your player character as long as you are on version 6.4.7 or higher:

Example of overriding default clothes to Hex Maniac:

• If your player character is female, use leaf instead of red in all references below.

1. Delete all the clothes files from: InfiniteFusion\Graphics\Characters\player\clothes\red
2. Copy all the clothes files from: InfiniteFusion\Graphics\Characters\player\clothes\HexManiac
3. Paste the files here: InfiniteFusion\Graphics\Characters\player\clothes\red
4. Rename each file to replace HexManiac with red

Just throw pokeball on the first turn if it always run. For me I always try to throw rock at them first. If I find it hard & they always run, then I try to use the bait. If they still run after I give them bait. Then I just throw pokeball on the first turn.

Tauros is hard to catch for me, if I throw stone at it. It always run. I manage to caught it without throwing stone / bait. I managed to get lucky & get it on first turn after I throw pokeball. Just get lucky ig.

For example, I fused Dodrio with Mamoswine, reversed Mamoswine to body, unfused, and when I went to the move relearner, four of Dodrio's moves were eligable for Mamoswine to learn, including Swords Dance, Drill Peck, etc. I repeated the process with other Pokémon, and the same thing happened. Thanks for the clarification. At first I thought I'd stumbled upon an amazing trick, like swapping hidden abilities (I actually stumbled upon this while swapping hidden abilities), but the more I thought about it it didn't seem likely it was intended, because it renders a lot of strategy null if you can just teach your Pokémon literally any move through manipulation and trickery.

Is there an ETA on when this bug will be fixed?

And in the meantime, is there a way to clear those extra moves from the learned moves list?

It has been known for a while if I'm not mistaken, but there is only 1 dev, so bugs that are rare and/or not that impactful tend to take a while.

Couldn't tell you (I only joined a few months ago), but since he is the only after many years (some people said there were several devs early on though), it is safe to assume that it is a no I think.

I would hope he would reconsider that. Having even one person whose whole role was to clean up all the maps, fixing inconsistencies in the tilesets and weird collisions, would be huge.

I know there's a bug report thread for bad map tiles, but I haven't seen anything to convince me that any of those are actually acted upon, and that people aren't just posting the same ones over and over again.

I wouldn't want to be jumping in this project (even as someone with a developer background and some experience in ruby and RPG maker) at least.
10 years is long enough for things to have become so complex that you would need several months just getting familiar with the code, before even talking about trying to fix anything.
Especially when a solo developer has been handling it for so long and it is most likely not setup in a way to make it easy to work as a team on it.
Just my two cents as a random discord dweller though.

When I defeated the three other robots, and got the Infinite Reversers, it said they'd upgraded my Infinite Splicers, but they were already in the upgraded state. Was it the text description or did you try it out and it retained the highest IV for each stat and other similar benefits the super splicers give?

Not sure, I have only been around for a few months and never had a bug to follow like that.
I can tell you that patches don't happen on a regular basis as far as I can tell, but that's about it.
The #tech-support would probably give you more accurate details on questions like this I think.

If you're brand new, the game doesn't give you all the customizable options for your first playthrough. Many players start their 1st playthrough, then immediately go back to the main menu, delete it, and start a new one with custom settings

You personally seem like you may want to try "Remix" mode. It includes more diverse pokemon through encounters and other trainers with an emphasis on newer gen mon.

Also, of you like all the randomized mon you've on reddit and what not, you can also tinker with the settings so that oak gives you the option of 3 randomly fused 1st stage (non evolved) pokemon

After finding the first switch, the second will be in one of the adjacent bins (so at most 4 possible bins) but you only have 1 try.
If you guess wrong, the first switch will move to a nearby bin from where it was, and you will have to find it again before being able to try your luck at the second.
If you are lucky, it can end in a single try, some unlucky people reported having to do it well over 10 times though.
If for some reason no bin has the first switch, exit and re-enter to reset the puzzle.

Hey @spring galleon! Are you looking for the Exp Share? You can get it in the Cerulean Pokémon Center from Professor Oak's Aide once you've fused at least 5 Pokémon. They can also be bought from the Silph Co. Lobby for 11,000$ if you saved 7 or more employees, or 8,000$ if you saved all the employees!

To use Exp Share, give it to a Pokémon to hold. That Pokémon will now gain XP without needing to participate in battle.

Exp Share will NOT stack with Exp All.
