Yeah. Temporal storms simply are NOT a good mechanic as they are. They can, thankfully, be disabled, but the fact that there are TWO ways to disable them is not a good sign.

The key issue is what they force you to do, or really, what they DONT force you to do. They arnt dangerous. Even heavy temporal storms consist of either sitting in your house and doing nothing, or smacking drifters from a trap.

this ISNT fun, and it isnt good game design. At best, players use it to cheeseily farm gears and jonas parts, at worst, its a "go alt tab for like 5 minutes"

Please, take a look at temporal storms, and give them actually interesting mechanics

#

tbh, treat them like oceans, where its a mechanic thats DISABLED by default

I'd love to see the world change due to temporal storms. Like, temporal ANYTHING is supposed to relate to time right? What if temporal storms caused time to act all weird? Trees suddenly sprout up before your very eyes, crops go from seeds to fully grown in a matter of moments, the preservation timers on food fluctuate from 2 seconds to 50 million years every second, tools left outside rust etc... but also time can go backwards, cut down trees respawn while others revert to being saplings, ready to harvest crops revert back to seedlings, old and worn out tools go back to the condition they were in when they were first made, flint tools turn back into a piece of flint and a stick etc...

Any reason to make seraph venture outside in these conditions would be good. Maybe a rare mob variant that drops idk diamonds or emeralds that only spawns during temporal storms and then despawns right after.

i actually like it, i think the two player responses (sit in house or sit in trench and stab em) are completely fine and in line with the other game mechanics.

think winter, u rly do just kinda bum around for a lot of it. temporal storms are just another weather event that makes the outside hazardous.

i think trenches are cool too, to me it's no different than bear pits. it is just a good way to farm drops like temp gears that r otherwise not really viable to sustainably find

i think it would be cool to have more reasons for a player to venture out during them, idk what that would look like.

temporal storms off as default i dont agree with though

It’s basically a count down of “Prepare supplies to spend several hours in your house, fighting enemies or just sitting in a pit to cheese the enemies”

#

All of which im ngl aren’t really fun

sharp flint
#

i think they should be less common for sure

neat lotus
#

It’s basically just turning an event into a minecraft mob farm

sharp flint

maybe longer

neat lotus

Which i always hated in minecraft doing

#

(Personally anyways

sharp flint
#

i see it as a mini winter with a giraffe at worst in most cases

sharp flint
#

definitely too common tho lol

neat lotus
#

Because right now they are basically either a mini winter or something you cheese for items

#

Which, feels boring compared to so far everything else

neat lotus
#

i think? I haven’t been keeping track really

#

But it just got boring so fast dealing with it so i ended up turning it off

i just set them one setting down and the frequency doesnt feel bothersome

I have a vaguely thought out suggestion.

I was thinking if they ever added something like the Nether from MC, they could make it so it's only accessible during a storm.

That way, you're forced to interact with the storm in order to get there.

Maybe once you're there, you can find something to create your own entry/portal. But until you've done that, you can only enter during storms.

One idea was that rifts would also only spawn on the surface during storm and it's the rifts themselves that become the portal when a storm starts. Enemies could then swarm out of rifts instead of spawning randomly in the world.
