Not sure if it's something that is doable in the game, initially I was thinking of a mining helmet, that uses a candle.
Then I thought, there has to be a reason you might not want to use it and use something else that glows, which lead to Methane Gas, and to keep it real with both of those: a canary to detect the gas, but that would require birds to be added to the game and a method to catch them.
