#New healer class

His abilities would include: faster passive health regeneration and healing from bandages, resistance to disease, faster healing of others, and more effective healing of others; new crafting recipes for medicines and bandages; and a higher drop rate of items when gathering herbs. Perhaps he could craft a special backpack with extra slots for healing items.
Perhaps another passive ability where negative effects, including diseases, last for a shorter time on him
As for weaknesses, there's reduced damage from melee weapons and bows.
Fewer HP
Maybe we could give him a blow dart that deals more damage and inflicts stronger status effects on enemies
Actually, I’ve just realised that this describes the doctor from the movie 28 Years Later
A tranquillising dart could be great for pacifist players
What do you think?
I have been thinking that there should be special recipes for medicines using various plants, like multiple kinds of poultices and tinctures etc. That could also be expanded into general different kinds of first aid, allowing for slings and splints etc.
All classes should have some way to propagate medicinal plants, ala wild farming, with maybe the healer having more success. I don't think they should recover faster than anyone else, but treatments they provide to themselves and others should be more effective, though everyone should be able to apply all treatments to others with possibly a lower success rate. So as a possible example, a non-healer has an 80% chance to successfully splint a broken leg, but a healer gets 100% and an improved debuff recovery time.
Love the idea of a healers bag, for sure!
I'm thinking, though, that healers would know the body better than others and maybe be more effective at butchering animals or more likely to crit in combat, if that's a thing, but less able to deal with lore creatures and gain less from mining and logging (though maybe a higher chance of sticks and tree seeds for the herbalism side).
And if we consider mental health in the picture at all, maybe there could be a bonus to recovering temporal stability or something (but I haven't actually touched the story yet, so that could be completely unrelated for all I know).
Love this idea! I always play healers. 😂
Maybe we could leave out the 'temporal stability' bit, though, to stick more to the herbalist/medic vibe, but I do like the debuff that reduces metal extraction efficiency!
Instead of healer class we should get a druid class that knows all about plants and can craft medical poultices and whatnot and they get a bonus on harvesting plants and maybe ability to walk through bushes.
If it's gonna be a pseudo farmer/forager class, like you said with an herbalist, I've got an idea.
I like the idea for a pseudobackstory like some of the classes have already through traits - (Hunter is claustrophobic, Malefactor and Clockmaker are nervous for various reasons, etc), it can give some more...unique traits to the herbalist. Especially if they know a LOT about nature, they may have a deeper understanding/connectedness towards it.
Apothecary
Herbalist (Medical items are applied 15% faster, grants unique medical crafting recipes. ((Stuff like Tinctures that can be put into smaller clay vessels for later use. They can expire.)).)
Green Thumb (10% loot from plants. ((Includes crops, berry bushes, fruit trees, and plants such as horsetail and whatnot).)
Furtive (-35% animal seeking range. Taken from Malefactor.)
Resolute (15% fewer calories gained from alcohol and meat.)
Agrizoophobia (25% less damage dealt to wild animals. ((Basically stops at 3rd generation livestock and doesn't affect the rust monsters and constructs)).)
Nearsighted (-15% damage with ranged weapons. Taken from Blackguard.)
I feel it's a good balance; The stealth is nice, but also you're not meant to be a fighter. You're meant to be told where the stuff is, go and get it, likely be in the town most of the time like the Tailor, but you're also really helpful for getting people back up to snuff.
I don't agree for any class being a purely multiplayer niche.
Every class needs to be viable singleplayer
And that still is. You can still play Tailor in singleplayer.
You get healing items and won't need to worry about growing food.
Your HP bonuses will be satisifed quite well, and any loss of HP, status effects through illness and whatever can be negated through medical goods you'd get recipes for. But you're not as good of a fighter like other classes can be.
It's balance.
Perhaps each class could interact differently with healing items
Tailor could be best at making bandages, hunter uses herbalism, malefactor applies faster, blackguard heals through armor
Commoner could heal more with good nutrition, and clockmaker restores temporal stability while healing
I posted a similar idea to this a while ago!

A dedicated healer class would be nice~
I'm all for it! As written in "Master Polikarp's Dialogue with Death" - an anonymous poem from late medieval Poland:
"Because against a mortal danger
No herb is found in the garden.
In vain you will take a lovage,
A board is ready for you;
No help from the smoke of wormwood
When my hour comes;
No help from sage leaves either –
Death will wash off everything without lye.
I don't care about any herb;"
Translated by Michael J. Mikoś, founded online.
Oo i didnt know this one!
The developers are planning to introduce illnesses and antibiotics, so these features can be further developed to focus on treating illnesses.
The idea is that after a long journey, you’ll return feeling unwell and will need to recover. I hope it won’t just involve lying in bed and eating nutritious meals, but that you’ll also be able to treat it by herbs and medicaments
Teas and such would be good.
Yea
There’ll definitely be antibiotics; they’ll probably find a way to use that rotten food for something other than terra
Oh boy, penicillin!
Unfortunately, it wasn't on my school reading list, but you learn something new every day
staropolska.pl/ang/middleages/sec_poetry/conversation.php3
Unfortunately, not all of it has been translated, although the original breaks off towards the end. Fortunately, the entire piece was recently found in 2018, along with a few additional poems. However, once again, the entire poem has not been translated into English, or at least I haven't found any translation of the entire book. What's cool is that the poem mentions various medieval things. Here we have the most popular medicines of that era, lovage, sage, wormwood incense, and throughout the poem we have a series of lists of various scams committed by different groups, such as, for example, in the case of craftsmen, "Shoemakers who stretch the leather with thier theet, who extort money with this.",
"Innkeepers who pour foam instead of beer measure,
extract money with it, fill their purses.
Although they rarely mention me, they meet my scythe because of it." (my translations)
This work is also a great collection of Old Polish, so little known to us.
Ohh so you are Polish? It's change everything
aaa this is briliant!
It's actually sad that you didn't have it. Although, on the other hand, I'll say this: it's better to be late and learn something out of curiosity than to have it drilled into your head so you memorize every single bit for a test.
For example, I had a teacher who told us we are idiots. And to properly prepare us for the final exams, she would give us tests on every literary period before the final exam.
So we had to memorize song of Roland and other Gothic architecture and Renaissance philosophy every week just to be allowed to take the final exams, which turned out to be three times easier.
But I think youre idea is brilliant. I'd just wait until the update that adds realistic damage and healing to the game.
to be fair, wspomniałeś o tym, że resztę tego dzieła znaleziono w 2018 roku może po prostu nie załapałem się już na okres w którym była to lektura szkolna
A możliwe.
I hope that with the new disease system, as well as making herbal teas, we’ll also be able to grind herbs in a mortar 😳
Maybe some medicinal soups?
or dry the herb and grind it into tablets?
I love drying the herbs! Were there tablets in the Middle Ages?
There were various types of tablets. They weren't the same as today's pills, but in a form similar to them. A Apothecarian usually made them on-site from herbal or mineral powder. There were troches, boluses (larger tablets), and pills themselves. Pharmacies also sold prepared tablets made from sugar and gold powder; these were the first candies.
Woooa
Yes, medieval medicine combined actual science with magic, so in medieval pharmacies, alongside various herbal powders, you could find strange things like dragon's blood or powdered minerals, including powders made from precious stones. Furthermore, a medieval pharmacy wasn't exactly a medicine shop, but more of a shop with everything. Besides medicines, you could also buy spices from distant lands or various wines with additives.
gold powder candy. HHHMMMMMM.
I think in general I'd rather see classes being a bonus/alternative starting outfit based on combination of traits unlocking such from what player chooses during character creation.
Actually, the word candy originally meant this, but honestly, I wouldn't call it a candy, because it was just a sugar cube covered in golden powder
I understand that, but even now various classes have advanced crafting options, such as the hunter and his tendon bow.
I approve of this suggestion because I'm physically unable to complete my geneva checklist without it.
😇🥰😳
Medic as biological weapon specialist 🥰
