#1.22rc5 Running diagonally on stone paths is "choppy"
6 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
confirming it happens without snow as well, i think it's a combo of the raised edges and a difference in speed boost because i go quite a bit slower on my diagonal roads alongside the choppiness
You need to build them wider than a single diagonal block (i.e. more than 3 blocks wide) since you rarely perfectly align with the set angle in general and the bounding box of the character is probably not rotating with your character.
It's been like that for several major game versions, as far as I remember so v1.19
I'm in the process of expanding them atm, I never noticed it in 1.21 which is why I didn't make my roads wider initially :/ can't speak on the earlier versions though, I've only been playing for maybe a year
Yeah I don't think there's a fix for this because it isn't a bug. Just gotta build wider
Isn't that still a bug? How wide do paths need to be? Does it make sense that diagonal paths should take 4x the materials to be the same speed as straight ones?
A width of 4 blocks per line gives you one and a half blocks wide uninterrupted diagonal path.
Keep in mind that you're trying to build a diagonal path from 1m cubed building blocks, you'd have to do the same IRL if you wish to keep the width the same without stepping on the edges.
