now listen, we all love our skriggly skraggly lil fellers who follow us around or sit at our houses all day

I feel though that they, kind of serve no purpose, they are more of a novelty if anything, but everything should have a time to shine right?

aside from looking adorable, a small idea I had was, since in lore they were mini mining assistants,

lets say you could hold your locust in your hands, and mush their face against a stone, and the stone would break at the same speed as a copper pickaxe, maybe slightly worse since it's a tiny drill

for balancing sake I'd say it has more durability than a copper pickaxe, maybe a bismuth bronze pickaxe, so it still needs to be maintained

how would you maintain it, well, with the grinding wheel coming out soon, lets say you pop the head off of your locust, and have to sharpen the drill bit on the wheel

and if this doesn't sound balanced, do give your own opinions, and or we can agree that at least let the locusts sit on our shoulder

I think this is a really cool idea. The only problem with making locusts useful, is keeping the clockmaker class balanced with the other classes. If this was added, it would make clockmaker substantially cooler then the other classes.

#

I think all classes need some pizzazz added to make each class feel more unique

I think maybe I misunderstood what they were saying. I was thinking they meant it would automatically mine in a direction, (like the digtoise from terraria if anybody gets that)

Classes should have things that makes them unique and fun to play, but I don't really want to make those unique things so good/important that you miss out on a lot by picking a class (I play with class-specific recipes disabled)

im all for making classes cooler

I think a decent workaround would be retaining the fact the clockmaker is the only class to tame locusts, which is kind of like endless locusts for free, while also allowing other classes to make repaired locusts using locust parts found in ruins or bought from traders.

That way everyone can get a locust, but it’s much cheaper and easier if you’re a clockmaker.

I like the idea of not completely locking cool stuff behind classes, but doing just that can be an optional setting anyway
