I removed all of the hub plug ins except quest helper. still lags. even in lowe detail mode. My computure should not be an issue. I cannot figure out how to rune runelite in safe mode as mentioned. are there diffrent instructions? Game still freezing regularly requiring me to close out and restart.

you also have to restart the client if you're just removing plugins FYI. many hub plugins won't shutdown correctly. but yeah you'll want to figure out safemode

Hi folks, does runelite talk with Jagex servers in some different way? This morning, I couldn't launch the runelite app on my macbook (that I can't fully control), through the jagex launcher. I disabled TLS verification and then it launched ( I also downloaded and installed runelite again), but I can't login. I can login with the official client though. All I found in chat history is that reinstalling might fix the issue.

Forgot to mention, I tried using safe mode also. Agreed regarding disabling verification. I was mostly hoping to diagnose it for now, even if the answer is that work has made it impossible 😅

Correct. Work machine that has a ton of bloat installed but so far the firewall has always been an issue only when I am on the VPN.

So yesterday, everthing worked fine without modifications. From this morning, I:

Use Jagex Launcher
Set Game Client to RuneLite and have my one character
Play: shows:
Exception ValidatorException
Message: PKIX path building failed:
sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target

Configuring to force IPV4, safe mode, and disable updates don't resolve that. Disable TLS verification does resolve that.

With disabled tls:

Use Jagex Launcher
Launch RuneLite
I get to the app, where I can control the volume, world, and use "Play Now"

Selecting "Play Now" briefly shows "connecting to server" and then "Failed to login. Please try again". I'm trying to get the logs now to see if there is a more useful error at the login failure. It works with the official client.

It seems to be synchronized with the time.apple.com server and has my correct timezone. I turned it off and back on and will find another time server and try that in case.

Usually "I suddenly can't play on my work/school machine" is because IT people changed stuff but 99% of the time the PKIX path building thing is your system time being incorrect

Yeah, that file doesn't exist for me, but I saw it recommended in the past. The time sync doesn't make a difference, and I don't see any log files being generated today (I guess nothing is saved before logging in, even in debug mode), so I think I'll have to accept that work likely got more restrictive.

One other thing I considered trying. Can I just delete everything in $HOME/.runelite if I don't care about my screenshots to see if anything cached is causing issues?

I found the .runelite/logs/client.log now and it seems to still be the PKIX path building failure at a later stage. I'll dig some more into the possible time issue later, but thank you for the kind help 🙂

Is there a way to specify which of my two monitors runelite should open in by default? Right now it opens on my "main" monitor, but I want it on the other one. Normally I have to just drag it over, but if I close the game and re-open it, it defaults back to the wrong monitor.

Testing this and it seems like it's not restoring the client to my 2nd monitor either.
Granted I'm on Linux, so that might be the issue.

If I comment out line 666 in ClientUI it works to restore to 2nd monitor.
But iirc from when I was recreating this for my plugin, removing this means the client can spawn between two monitors, displaying half on one half on the other.

Oh, and iirc I think on windows that also allows it to spawn outside of the display.

on kde plasma 5 (ubuntu), notifications focus the client but don't bring it "up", I've tried a few window rules as well as request vs force under runelite's focus settings, anyone have any ideas?

(as a hacky workaround i've got the following script running via dunst on rl notifs:

I tested ram with memtest overnight, no errors, i tested every core in cpu separately, no errors. Gemini is saying it's most likely an error on runelite side... please help... 😄

o/ just came back to the game and im using RL.
seems its crashing my pc every 10-20mins of playtime. pc just restarts as if you hard power cycled it - no BSOD etc.
Not had this issue before and seems to be just when im using RL.

RL overlays and many Jagex widgets can be moved around the screen by holding the Drag Hotkey, (default: Alt) configurable in "RuneLite" settings, and left click dragging it around the screen.
Some overlays can be resized by dragging their bounds, right clicking will also reset their size and position.
They can also contain additional options, such as opening the config of the plugin that makes them, which can be discovered by shift right clicking.

If you're getting an error while trying to install RuneLite in the lines of unable to find unins000.exe that means you have a previous RuneLite version that didn't uninstall cleanly. To fix that you need to delete the following windows registry key: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\RuneLite Launcher_is1

To find the logs, you can do one of the following:

If your client failed to open, click the Open logs folder button.
Open the screenshot directory by right-clicking 📷 Camera button, navigate 1 directory up, then open logs folder.
Navigate to %userprofile%\.runelite\logs on Windows or $HOME/.runelite/logs on Linux and macOS.

Upload the log files named client and launcher by dragging them to Discord. If there are files prefixed with jvm_crash dated from today, upload them too.

Run the RuneLite (safe mode) shortcut, or with a Jagex account, first run the RuneLite (configure) shortcut and tick the Safe mode box, then launch RuneLite via the Jagex launcher.

This temporarily disables the GPU plugin and all hub plugins which will allow you to confirm the issue is caused by one of those plugins and isn't a core RuneLite issue.
If the issue is caused by a hub plugin, you should isolate which plugin it is and then uninstall the plugin.

We don't provide builds of pluginhub plugins for snapshot versions. Usually you can pass -Drunelite.pluginhub.version=<current RL version> as a VM option to load the plugins built against the release into your build, which will work if there are no ABI changes. If there are ABI changes, build the plugins yourself and place them into the sideloaded-plugins directory when running in developer mode.

well.. i live on the other side of the world, and my lowest ping world is w331 which gives me around 135ms. With VPN on, World Hopper plugin says world 331 is like 260+ ping

Hey guys, after watching around a little here in the discord i can't seem to find an answer to my problem but i'll try here!

I cannot see the "Quest Helper" tab in the runelite setting for OSRS, after some googling it said i could clear the quest -helper JAR from the plugins folder but unfortnely there is no "plugin" folder and there is no quest helper JAR in the .runelite folder either.

I've also tried to reinstalling runelite and restarting computer/jagex client with no luck.

Anyone who has any idea how i can fix this?

I'm not really sure how the plugin process works for this game so I wasn't quite sure I guess. As an example, for WoW addons I'm able to go into an addon folder and edit a few lines that dictact what the color is for something. I assume it's not that easy for this, but I wasn'r sure if there was something similar that could be done.

Is there a way to setup runelite so when widget sidebar is open the game still stays centered on the screen?

Since I play classic mode on a 34" ultrawide I have black bars on either side of the screen that are free space, but opening the sidebar shifts the game window to the left anyways.

I was at Guardians of the rift minigame, where it adds a screen filter to make it slightly blue. I teleported to Valamore to kill the Gemstone crab and the blue tint is still on my screen. I've uninstalled RuneLite, changed world, entered the minigame again and teleported out and everywhere I go there's this blue-washed look on my screen. If I use the official OSRS client it's fine and the colours go back to normal. Anyone else had this issue?

Is the issue that the title bar is white? You mentioned you have Custom Chrome off, and that your plugins are gone. Perhaps you want Custom Chrome on, and then to restart the client.

I saw this has previously come up but I have been getting a lot of "time out" on the Ping Graph plugin which I can feel in game as well. I have installed / reinstalled and tried one of our other routers but havingthe same issue and it is pretty much every 2-3 seconds it just says timed out.

I belive this is causing issues with my game full on freezing as well but I could be wrong. I can run Rust, R6, any intensive game with no issues but runescape of all things is screwing with me lmao

Hey team, I've had a really good look on github but I can't find any solution. I've lost my settings etc. by installing runelite on a new PC and the sync must have fucked with something when I went back to my original PC. I've messed around in the .runelite files and now nothing loads (settings or external plugins) when booting up runelite. I've saved all of the original information from the .runelite folder so it's all still there, but for some reason the settings and plugins aren't loading as per usual as if it's not reading from the folder (e.g. the launcher is loading as if it's a fresh installation).

Does anyone have any ideas? an example of it not reading the .runelite folder for example e.g. I've downloaded quest helper and verified that two .jav files for quest helper were in the .runelite plugin folder. Any help would be appreciated!!!!

I notice that Cutscenes dont load the dialog box in so i just get stuck on them.
Only when i switch the profile and therefore force a reload the dialog is shown correctly and i can continue.
Ive been using GPU and Stretched mode and it worked fine before.

Are there any known mods or mod settings causing this?

Many plugins from the pluginhub break the client in subtle or not-so-subtle ways, including causing issues like client freezes. We do not support pluginhub plugins because we do not make or quality control them, and do not recommend their use.

Run the RuneLite (safe mode) shortcut, or with a Jagex account, first run the RuneLite (configure) shortcut and tick the Safe mode box, then launch RuneLite via the Jagex launcher.

This temporarily disables the GPU plugin and all hub plugins which will allow you to confirm the issue is caused by one of those plugins and isn't a core RuneLite issue.
If the issue is caused by a hub plugin, you should isolate which plugin it is and then uninstall the plugin.

yes, and the only way to do that is by holding key to move camera constantly, thats why i need the pitch limited, so that the camera isnt weirdly angeled

I don't think it ever changed client size when switching profiles. If you load the client with a profile on startup, it should use the size configured for that profile

if you dont care that the sidebar is small, you can use stretched mode plugin and play with scaling algorithms in the gpu plugin

unfortunately scaling the pixel graphics and fonts of osrs is not very easy

When using blindfold for doom, and then focusing something different than rl. It freezes (Rl is still active but osrs screen is froze). Is that normal? Or gpu hardware issue?

After turning off blindfold or gpu, It returns to normal.

Many plugins from the pluginhub break the client in subtle or not-so-subtle ways, including causing issues like client freezes. We do not support pluginhub plugins because we do not make or quality control them, and do not recommend their use.

Run the RuneLite (safe mode) shortcut, or with a Jagex account, first run the RuneLite (configure) shortcut and tick the Safe mode box, then launch RuneLite via the Jagex launcher.

This temporarily disables the GPU plugin and all hub plugins which will allow you to confirm the issue is caused by one of those plugins and isn't a core RuneLite issue.
If the issue is caused by a hub plugin, you should isolate which plugin it is and then uninstall the plugin.

Bit of a rogue one and not sure if anyone else has come across the same problem, when I am playing on runlite with 2 clients open 1 client completely stops responding and crashes but the other client is completely fine and doesn't crash at all... I don't get anything other than it stops responding and this is the same runelite setup i've used for months with 0 issues. Only thing that has changed in my computer is I have just installed an RTX 5070 and a new psu. Kind of in the dark in terms of what the issue is. it's the same client everytime that crashes and the other client is completely fine. When I run just 1 client it works like normal

Hello! I recently downloaded RuneLite, everything seems to work, but I can't turn on GPU plugin, tried 117 HD plugin and same thing just wont turn on. I tried everything, reinstalled 10 times already (funny thing if I install RL to default location in C: drive then it wont launch at all, but if I install on D: drive it launches, weird), nvidia control panel opengl set to my gpu, updated gpu drivers, nothing worked. May be someone had same issue and got it fixed?

Open the screenshot directory by right-clicking 📷 Camera button, navigate 1 directory up, then open logs folder.
Navigate to %userprofile%\.runelite\logs on Windows or $HOME/.runelite/logs on Linux and macOS.

Upload the log files named client and launcher by dragging them to Discord. If there are files prefixed with jvm_crash dated from today, upload them too.
