I like that it's broad ☺️ nena is one of my favorite words for the same reason; it can be a hill, a mountain, a nose, a breast, a butt ckeek, a button, a pimple, and much more!

another broad one
noun: clean, soap, purity, core
verb: to wash, to make clean, to summarize/reduce to core
modifier: pure, clean, washed, soapy, core, essential

#

another slightly broad one, kind of a hyponym of pona.

#

original isnt implying older is better, it's sort of a "jo ala e namako"

which can be stains or details

pele - a preposition meaning "beyond."
Mi tawa pele kasi - I go beyond the plant.

#

Can also be used for comparisons
soweli li pona pele jan - animals are good beyond people, or, animals are better than people.

analog marlin
# fringe gulch pele - a preposition meaning "beyond." Mi tawa pele kasi - I go beyond the plant...

I think it would be "mi tawa lon pele kasi 🤔 (unless it's like kepeken, "mi tawa kepeken kasi")

Can pele be used as a noun and a verb too? It seems like pele implies some sort of boundary or limit which is exceeded.

to exceed: 1.) be greater in number or size than (a quantity, number, or other measurable thing); 2.) go beyond what is allowed or stipulated by (a set limit, especially of one's authority).

analog marlin
#

As a noun I think pele would describe simply the place outside of a boundry.

pele pi ma kasi ni li jaki - the (place) beyond/outside of this garden is dirty.

Good thing that's not the point of the thread

fringe gulch
elfin bramble
#

It is, but the point is not to make people compelled to use your nimisin

#

Any nimisin I make exists for a joke. Not for someone to be compelled to use it or for any actual real use

fringe gulch
#

I'm giving my subjective opinion on why I don't think its good

elfin bramble
#

Fair enough

#

I don't think compelling is the way to grade nimisin necessarily tho. I'm not compelled to use most; and that's the same for most people

#

But it's still your reasoning which is fine (I'm not trying to say you're wrong, it just isn't how I would grade a nimisin)

fringe gulch
#

I guess we just have different senses of humor, no offense to you but I didn't realize it was a joke. I'm told that I'm too literal.

nimi_sin tela (tea) coincidentally, it sounds similar to telo :D
from mandarin (Qieyun) 茶/drae
tela li ken ante mute. (there are many different types of tea.)
the sitelen pona is from a simplified form of 茶. 草 radical becomes a horizontal line, 人 radical stays the same, and 木 radical becomes upside down emitters.

ok i have

an idea

i've been thinking abt this

#

if it werent for the fact that this prob won't gain that much traction, i would support using it

#

i think it's actually pretty beneficial

round kraken
#

it's

#

well i've been thinking of a word

#

bc i take the pronounciations from chinese

#

so i've been thinking

#

ton

#

from Chinese 动

#

it usually means move, sometimes act, use, affect, it can be short for 动词 (verb)

#

it's not the best one

#

but close enough

#

and tonsi is taken so no taking it directly from that

#

but anyways

#

yeah

#

its semantic space is now broadened

#

to mean

#

to do, act,

#

action, service

#

nimi ton would be a verb

#

activity, move (as in make a move)

#

to open ton might be to start taking action

#

it's good for palin't people

#

it can mean an action, a doing

is this your doing? would be ni li ton sina anu seme?

#

nimi_sin kamun
-# from Arabic (ghayr munasib) غير مناسب
to draw attention, to notice, curious, mysterious, alluring, misfit, stand out, intriguing, interesting, captivating, to enthrall

#

kamun i can see being replaced by things like taki e kute, musi, etc

#

but i think pakukin is better

#

the symbols for kamun and pakukin respectively

round kraken

#

uhh i have an idea. so instead of repeating markers, you use u. this clarifies things because i literally CANNOT translate "sweet and sour food" or "the school for good and evil" without having to first put it in context and if i'm just mentioning a name/title i dont want to do that

#

so

#

u

replaces en

can we grade nimisin 1 to 6 using the number emojis? because I really want to give a more specific answer to some of these

#

1 to 6 because 1 to 5 has a middle option which is unfair tbh, It's gotta have to be good or bad

nimi_sin lenija

Definition:

Life, living, alive. Synonym of konwe, meant to invoke the same feeling and association as konwe without being disrespectful to the legacy of John H Conway. Semantic space possibly slightly broader than ka, since it includes fungi, plants, and other non-animal living things.

Etymology;

"Lenia," a cellular automata which is a continuous generalization of Conway's Game of Life. In my opinion, Lenia feels even more lifelike than Conway's Life.

I don't believe that toki pona needs a word for life and as such would not recommend using this word except as a replacement for konwe (or ka, I suppose.)

Example Usage:

"lenija ale o lon a!"
All living things deserve to exist!
"lili jaki li lenija ala lenija?"
"Are viruses alive?"

Sitelen Pona:

Several variations on a sitelen pona glyph, all based on a Lenia glider. They also resemble a face, and look similar to ka at all small size.

Constructive criticism greatly appreciated! If people like this word, I may make a sitelen suwi glyph for it.
