there's basic ones like toki-pona
and jan-ike
and things like that, but there's also things like ma-kasi, sitelen sitelen
, and pretty much any combination of glyphs - whats your opinion on them? should there be rules as to what glyps can be combined? what would those rules be? can grammatical particles be part of a compound glyph? etc!
#opinions on compound sitelen pona glyphs?

It is my opinion that in everyday toki pona writing, outside of certain established glyphs (e.g. toki+pona), they ought to be used mimimally.
my onion has always been "only use them when they improve a text"
the vast majority of uses don't do that
like lawa kasi looks cute as hell, is easy to read, and doesn't lend itself to lexicalisation
meanwhile smth like telo nasa is kind of just dense and weird looking, and only exists bc of lexicalisation
Particles can at least be in a compound glyph in cases like nimi "e" imo
Anyway i like them a lot and am a bit of a compound maximalist
I like a lot of the excuses to stack them up and i think the glyphs are mostly simple enough to work with that
i often struggle to read your sp
I haven't SP'd in a while
I think i'm a bit more traditional when i write on lined paper
i've mostly seen it in the context of places like #sitelen-pona
woah I have like the same onion on this
nasin kulupu is another fun example where it looks cute
my opinion is combine as much as you can
it's also so much more work^^
its not
then you haven't written sp with felt tips 😛
^lol
esp on standard lined paper
(which to be fair isn't what tp's Good at, it wants lots of space)
lol
i'll repeat my question, why do you say this?
[Reply to:](#1040100904101216266 message) my opinion is combine as much as you can
it makes things condensed
i like combining glyphs because it makes my friends that much more confused lol, and i rarely write in sp for anyone but me to read
condensed isn't necessarily a good thing
it usually just means harder to read and write

Smaller, but that's a small benefit.
it's not even a benefit tbh
do y’all ever think about how, to an outside observer who only knew a bit about sp, glyphs like pali and kepeken look like combined glyphs?
yeah probably
they should be
