i'm assuming you've tried this already but, switching to aubrey changes nothing, right?
if you can't seem to be able to fix it, consider playing through as many animations from aubrey as possible, and if needed, exit whitespace and re-enter it.
some unique aubrey animations that you might be able to trigger are her piano animation that you can trigger by going to space boyfriend's room in OTHERWORLD and playing the piano while controlling aubrey
her swimming animation which you can see by going to the north of the tree stump in the vast forest, towards the entrance to the || DEEP WELL ||.
you can also go to PYREFLY FOREST, to the small section where || some spiders that look like MEWO (the black cat that can be found in whitespace) will start following you if you get near them. being caught by these MEWO look-alikes will trap aubrey on a spiderweb||, triggering a unique sprite
you can also go to one of mari's picnic blankets and choose to spend some time with your friends, this will make aubrey do her pirouette animation

||Unfortunately, by not opening the door for kel, you entered a route that doesn't tell you what's really going on, and the endings aren't satisfactory. Try opening the door for kel in your next playthrough, it'll take some time but it'll be worth it||

The alternate route, which you're on, isn't as story driven as the main route, but if you're looking for a bigger focus on combat and don't care about story then the alternate route should suit you better
(You should still play both routes tho)

the part of the game you're in is pretty much || the end of the omori route. what you can do now is explore certain areas of headspace if you're interested in it. the focus of this point of the game is "Blackspace 2", which you've accessed through the 5 doors in Blackspace. you can read more about it here: https://omori.fandom.com/wiki/BLACK_SPACE#BLACK_SPACE_2 ||

as other users have said, the || route where you open the door for kel is vastly different, and it is most likely the reason why OMORI got so popular in the first place, you'll most likely enjoy it ||

theres a mixed route too but the content thats exclusive to that route is very very limited

if you play the 2 other routes then youve basically already seen 99.9% of the stuff on the mixed route already

file1-6 are just ur save files, and im assuming badgedata, mods, and sync_data are all mod related, the only ones that cant go are config, global, and tiledata, but config is just ur settings and im not entirely sure what global is, but looking at the contents i think its just a sort of masterlist of all ur save files (including past ones(?)). tiledata literally is just a file that has the number "0" in it so idk what that is

i honestly purposefully overwrote over a save file that had the option for ||Sunny to adventure whitespace/sleep till morning when interacting with his bed before morning on one day left on the hikikomori route|| and kind of missed lots of content like a idiot because i simply forgot i was supposed to choose the first option
ive been looking around the internet and the game's decompiled files to see if i can figure it out myself, seemingly i cant; is there any way to revert a day's progress by editing the save file so that im back to that option? ive gone through https://goats.dev/omori/variables.html and honestly have absolutely no clue if what im looking for is there, i was guessing it was variable id 4, "Progress Variable", but my save file doesnt seem to have it
though i have basic technical knowledge of doing stuff like this ive never worked with omori or rpg maker in general, if this is said easier than done, ill probably just install a save file, thanks in advance

Uhh, I'd imagine it's a little more involved than just reverting you back to the previous day, because the ingame day/your location/the existence of any followers might persist in an unexpected way. There is also a decent possibility of corrupting your save entirely.
I'd recommend just grabbing a save from the pins if you just want to go back and redo the parts you missed

when the boss makes your team angry, you MUST change your emotion or she will oneshot you. being happy is fine, being sad is better

what is the best skills and charms for every character?

||OMORI: Rose Hairclip, allows for happy strats thanks to the hit rate buff, and boosts all stats so both Vertigo and Red Hands become more powerful
AUBREY: If you're going for maximum Last Resort damage, use Pretty Bow (Flower Crown is usually put on Kel due to his low base HP), but otherwise Gladiolus Hairband or Cough Mask are pretty good for boosting her offense. Use Gladiolus if you're using Happy, Cough Mask otherwise.
KEL: As mentioned before, he uses Flower Crown to boost his low HP. With Chicken Ball you don't need a speed charm to reach max speed (999) for Run n Gun damage.
HERO: Anything that boosts his survivability is good for Hero, just use the best thing that you have.

It really is based on your build

If Omori uses juice heavy skills ||red hands, stare etc, it's reasonable to give him cook hat. Hero has more than enough juice for anything, and also considering omori is also most buffed character (coral sacrifice, flowers etc), although not unreasonable, it's still not necessary to give him best charms||

omori has the best damaging skills of any character, it makes sense to give him something to help him deal that damage

if he is running out of juice then you should probably heal his juice more often

rather than using a charm that provides no offensive boosts

if you haven't been there before, you'll have to get there via the train station in Vast Forest, otherwise you can take Pluto there

I found that using an angry team and using Omori's Trip to lower its speed works pretty well
If you're playing on PC, you will need to make sure that you re-apply the speed debuff every so often, because debuffs expire after 6 turns.
