The bigger issue is that they didn't lean harder into the blackspace keys to lead to this reveal. It was meant to be a reward in the game.

I also think this chapter potentially fixed an issue I had with Omori being so emotional and out of control over everything. Going the skinwalker Sunny route (which is still congruent with the game) and separating Sunny from Omori saves the inevitable confrontation from being so jarring

this might sound silly, but a part of what makes the Omori vs Sunny confrontation work for me, is actually all the random happy shit Sunny did in Faraway. Sunny used to be presented as a passive, cowardly kid, but through player (and Kel) influence, he comes out of his shell to help others and try to make a difference over the course of 3 days. None of that strength is really present in the manga, so I can't see him overcoming himself being as impactful.

These are meta-excuses. The manga is an abridged version of the game so it takes shortcuts to give space for Nui's vision. The manga wants to add in new details. The reason you get the divorcee parents scene is because Nui wanted to explore Aubrey's home life. This is not actually bad on its own, so long as the execution is done right.

sunny "is" omori yes, but there is a reason why omori exists, no? assuming omori's purpose is the same as in the game (which is increasingly dubious), it's a shell sunny (the dreamer) places himself in. we know that from daddy longlegs sunny used to dream as himself, but eventually chose to take himself as omori. more metaphorically, omori reflects sunny's escapism and repression, he's everything sunny wishes to be. in a world where his friends are here and mari is alive, and we even see himself talking the form of omori in the irl mirrors during the omori route

that's the 🤓 explanation but the point is if omori is the one meant to repress sunny's fears, he should do so. in the omori route, it is sunny who is cowering before stranger and his fears before omori "saves" him. and in the sunny route, when he kills basil, he tramples over him brutally, walks up to his throne of hands, and gives a cold stare

also in-game he shows no fear during fights, and i feel like that was a missed opportunity here, to showcase how he is in control, and it'd also give us a reason to be suspicious of omori and see him as different to sunny

I wanted to.shake NUI multiple times in name of poor Basil but I am very attached to the character and I think it was their intent to make us feel bad for him like we feel in black space in the game

The way she draws headspace basil drastically improved too so I am very happy. I am aware of cultural differences but I am uncomfortable with minors being portrayed in suggestive ways so I am happy of the art impeovement
