I wish the manga would have some kind of info on Basil’s parents and agree that being given a glimpse as to how his first idea was to hang Mari… if that was elaborated on a little I’d be happy. The characters just occasionally seem a lot more aggressive and boiled down versions of themselves. They’re doing better with Aubrey at least. If her redemption arc goes well she will have a strong plot line out.
As for Basil, I’d say the same if we got any moments of him lol

Because we’ve got his intense moments too but it does feel like his core issues/struggles are heightened and more violent. Significantly more volatile than I interpreted his character

So I guess in summary if they expand on him in a decent manner and actually explain him a bit or even just show us some pre context and then start his craziness and his redemption arc (tho he prolly won’t get one) it would be dope

The add nui make sometimes doesn’t make sense. Like the dad for example. The problem I have is the fact he KNOWS the situation of his daughter. In the game we can assume ( at least for my part) Aubrey dad left and abandons his family and cut ties with Aubrey. But here he doesn’t. Worst then that he knows the situation and even pay the rent ( for Aubrey). As a father, he sucks of not calling CPS in years and didn’t fight for his daughter and just let her stay in this hole. Like yeah it’s great to respect your daughter wishes but not at the expense of letting her being neglected and live like this

But basically to summarize and draw rhat connection, her Dad uses words to give this illusion hes a good Dad not just to her but for his own feelings about himself while doing nothing to help or absolve the situation. Sounds like he can’t even call her or her call him without issues.
So he puts on this front of being the better parent when in reality the only thing he does is occasionally talk to her on the phone, diss her mom, and briefly tell her she aughta move in with him.

In the game hes hinted to be somewhat controlling acrually. With off sentences like not letting Aubrey dye her hair and her having to sneak out. Could be as simple as not wanting your kid to dye their hair pink at a young age but idk why else they’d slip that into the dialogue unless there was a meaning
