The reason why Aubrey expresses her emotions in aggressive actions and words is that she was unable to form a strong attachment due to her parents' divorce and neglect, and especially after Mari's death, she probably wasn't able to grow up with enough love. It's a sad side to think about it. This isn't just limited to Aubrey, though.
However, I think she will attack Kel, like in NUI's illustration. It's like a classic tsundere anime girl. But I think Kel probably understands that it's not an elbow that comes from 100% hatred

While i appreciate your point of view, I do not enjoy 'aggressive because yes' kind of deals. In the game she has her reasons for fighting and the only 'free punch' we see in the real world is in sunny's imagination when they're fighting the recycling people.
I used to work with young people in my field and any 'free aggression' that fell into physical without any real provocaton wasn't something 'cute', it was seen as a big red flag in behavioral development. You didn't want to encourage those things.

I do not enjoy bonds based on 'free physical violence', my apologies on that but it doesn't make me laugh because I've been far too exposed to the 'real' bad side of it.

I just think it comes from a change in the character's personality. Whether in the game or the manga, he never shows “bad” emotions toward anyone. Practically his whole character revolves around protecting Sunny. He has an angry sprite that's never used, probably because it's OOC to show him like that.

Even there, in the game you could tell he was struggling. his smiles felt forced, he was doing his BEST. The first image can easily match a 'Sunny, I will save you from something' from the very last fight

It's something that pains him, scares him, but he's psuhing down all the pain for the sake of protecting. He's not angry in the first one, look at thee eyebrows, he's scared and sad and still trying desperately to be brave.
