I forgot about this... It's true that there is no clear reason to go to Humphrey if you don't meet Sweetheart.
After fighting Jawsam, there is a scene where Kell and Aubrey draw a picture of Basil, but what if at this point they wander aimlessly on the highway looking for Basil, and end up discovering Humphrey? (It may still seem strange because it's different from the game.)

Even in a closed community like this, it hurts me every time I see criticism using language that's hard to believe.

I think that opinion is correct. I think the medium of games was the best match for the work OMORI.
However, that also means that it feels like you can't get the same experience from other media. Manga, anime, novels, movies, dramas... I think it's difficult to expect an experience that is better than that of games.

I'm not sure if this translates correctly, but I think OMORI(game) had a multi-dimensional meta-structure. (However, this is based on my own personal thoughts on the issue of whether sunny and omori are the same entity or different personalities, which I have discussed many times here.)

If you want to see it in action in other media

Although the chances of this happening are virtually zero percent, I would like to see OMORI recreated as an experiential museum.
The entrance to the museum starts with the White Space, and I would like to actually walk through the Head Space and Black Space.

You can still use that and have a blackspace in a manga or an animated series

So, the artist behind Omori the manga or Omori the anime has to actually not just "oh, let's put random blackspace panels and scene when we get to it"

and actually think about a surrealist mind breaking sequences that explores the main character while keeping the cold empty exploration feeling that makes us feel like Sunny walking through the graveyard of his own imagiantion

B) Is the retelling done with an actual vision of how to use the new medium to strenght certain plot points while dealing with the limitations of other?
C) Do I trust the ones doing it to have the vision?

The manga to me is arguable on A). but fails on B) and C). Especially on C) I do not think even Omocat has the vision to do anything

In the JP version, the chapter titles are translated directly into Japanese, so it's hard to notice that they're quoting song titles. I would have preferred the chapter titles in English.

I don't understand English well enough to judge whether the Japanese translations of the song titles used as chapter titles accurately capture the nuance. For instance, episode 3, "IT MEANS EVERYTHING," is translated as "あの頃がすべてだった" , which translates more literally as "Those days were everything." The Japanese translation feels less like a direct quote from the song title, making the reference harder to spot. (Though I suspect most Japanese people would recognize "WORLD'S END VALENTINE.")

i speak some japanese (not fully fluently, but enough to have a full conversation) and after looking at the titles and comparing them to the english versions, in my opinion most of the title translations aren't super accurate
they're two completely different languages though, so translating it directly might not get the exact meaning/feeling across that the writers had in mind
i think it captures the nuance okay-ish? the english versions are still a bit different, but i think the translators did okay in that aspect

There are some titles that are culturally incomprehensible, such as "Underwater Prom Queens." Proms don't exist in Japan. Because of these song titles, I think it would have been better to leave the titles in English.
