Adaptation often implies changing things to fit the medium.
In both case, the medium is just the written novel. Most WN to LN changement are just here to make the WN draft less rough. Its mostly the same story and scenes.
Those changes are not necessary to fit the medium. They are just there because the author want to improve the og story.

Ok, you cannot say appearance isn't important everywhere. Design philosophy and aesthetic are inherent in every culture. Nui is from Japan, and Japanese culture has its own, sometimes very strict rules about the application of appearance in certain contexts. The difference in this case is that the cutesy style is very much accepted and trendy in its society, even when representing more grown-up people, while in the West we find it infantilising.

I can't imagine how such an anime could work to be honest, because... there really aren't that many events happening in the game's plot to be adapted into something with many episodes. 3 days left - two small fights, 2 days left - one small mental breakdown, 1 day left - a small nostalgic cut and another Aubrey breakdown, and then the truth and the finale.
It's simply impossible to fit all this into the running time of a standard anime so that there is dynamics, and if the main focus is on adventures in Headspace... no, just no. Omori will NOT work as an anime.

And this gave me an idea - what if Omocat wanted a manga not because of a desire to expand the story (at least not as a primary reason), but simply because of the intrinsic goal of making a manga of her main success, because... considering how crazy she is about anime and everything Japanese (she even knows the language) this could be something like a dream come true for her

I understand why you think that. I think her being a big fan of manga and anime influenced her deciding to make a manga adaptation of the story. But the manga is clearly supposed to be something additional to playing the game. If she wanted it to be her main success, she would have made a replacment of the game or the definitive way of experiencing the story. By making it longer, or adding more new details about the story for exemple.
