They are not. I can literally go buy Dragon Ball at my store for 10 euros (9usd), translated and in physical copy. I think the issue is that the distribution is just too 'small' to satisfy the request and many resellers bought it just for the sake of selling it a second time

To be honest, omori's merchandise as a whole seems to have a reseller issue. The peluches were purchased in mass when released first and then you can find them around now for three times their price. Most items suffer that fate until they're relisted once or twice on omocat's store

Sunny is certainly kind, but there is OMORI inside him.
While Sunny and OMORI are completely separate beings, we can also think of them as the same being, with some parts merging.
In other words, Sunny, who is part OMORI, might have had a terrible thought like this... "If Basil is gone, the truth will remain in darkness."

If it were me, I think I would have a look of extreme sadness and guilt, so I don't think I would make that expression even if I were to have a group hug with friends.

My apologies for taking so long, I couldn't ignore a call from my workplace. Apparently someone who works tonight is without car due to some issues with it and we were working on how to take them to work since we are in a remote location and bus aren't exactly avaiable. Tonight I'm taking them, we made some turns and that took some time.

And... THAT is a wonderful take? I find it fascinating because from the english version we do NOT perceive OMORI as a separate being beside in one specific scene or two (The Final Fight or when he 'takes over' i the ending). I actually did some studies (perks of working healthcare and specializing in psychology) but Sunny doesn't seem to have DID (dissociative identity disorder. Once called 'multiple personality disorder.) or if he does it's worked in... poorly. In terms of 'mental illnesses he's much more of a schizophrenia and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) if we want to work that way.

Imagining Omori and Sunny as complete separate beings would work well in that context, though. Even if I have to admit OMORI feels a lot like 'Sunny' in the manga, even more than it does in the game

It is also one of my favorite scene. You can see the lovethe brothers have to offer. How Aubrey is processing that she is STILL loved desite everything. How Sunny is shocked this is actually happening. It's a WONDERFUL moment.

i think the point of an omori manga would be to fix the story bloat that omori the game has, especially with headspace

a lot of sections in hs in the game are fun but definitely just pure filler, like sweethearts castle

I agree that the arachnophobia could have been explored more.
What about the fear of heights?
There's already a scene about it in the manga.
But if it was to be depicted, I think it should be in the next episode, episode 9.

Aubrey will drop Basil in the lake and say, "I didn't mean to."
This would be a replay of the time Sunny pushed Mari down the stairs. Like Aubrey, Sunny would have thought, "I didn't mean to."
However, the lake scene will deal with a fear of water, so things could get complicated.

However, the location itself is significant, as the lake is where Sunny likely learned all of his fears of spiders, heights, and water.

The phobias are my main complain, I fear. Heights is always at least presented well in Headspace. Shorter than the original version, certainly, but actually very nice. I am biased in that sense, I fear, becuase Kel being the 'responsible one' and supporting Omori made my little heart beat a bit faster. It's cute, it elaborates well on Sunny dreaming of a strong support system that loves him beside what he has from his sister and we have a general feeling that 'Having someone at your side DOES make things better.'

That being said, the representation in Real World was disappointing. In the game we have a whole segment about it, a whole night dedicated to how Sunny feels: He is hungry, but he struggles and doesn't want to go downstairs, going back to the bed instead. In the manga? We see him wonder the house without much worry until it's time to specifically move to the door. (Unless the layout of the house is different and the kitchen is upstairs which MAY be the case considering we see the microwave and Sunny getting the knife after he throws up) and 'fear of heights' is literally 6 panels, 5 if we don't want to consider the one regarding the piano room that may be a fear on its own.

It's not elaborated that the problem with stairs is the height itself, nor any association with something that may be on the bottom/top of the stairs, it almost feels like a fear of 'knocking' until Kel speaks.

That is my opinion at least. I am 50/50 on this, basically. I hope the response isn't too negative, but it can be summarized as: I like the Headspace part, I don't like the real world part.

I am also strongly biased toward the game so I do admit my opinion may come off as strong.

About Episode 9: I am genuinely looking forward it for two reasons. I LOVE Hero and finally seeing my adored 'big brother' has me already looking forward it. And I hope it's... an intense moment. Nui has been good at showing strong horror moments, I feel, as long as they don't involve Basil too much (The Barn scene had a different pace than the game, I DO prefer the game version but I do feel like it's not that bad), the drowning segment with Mari and the others may be great.

I do HOPE we get to learn in the manga about the incident Sunny had to deal with, though.

It's worth mentioning ingame people aren't even too aware of Sunny's phobias? They know he can't swim, certainly, but that's different from 'he is afraid of it'. When Hero and Kel deal with the spider, for example, everyone's focus is on Hero, not Sunny, so there's a chance people may not even know Sunny is scared.

I am curious about Nui's take on it.

Yes. I think the depiction of phobias could have taken more time and pages. The trauma should have been portrayed as a "slow" fear. Like countless cold hands grabbing you all over and whispering in your ear. Like soft cotton is strangling you.
It's hard to express this, but I think those kinds of fears don't actually "attack" people, but rather they are much closer to you and "loom" over you.

However, I am curious as to how the scene with Spirit Mari (black and white) will turn out right before entering the deep well.
Throughout the game, we saw Spirit Mari call out Sunny's name in a complex meta-structure, speaking to "Sunny, who creates a headspace in a dream and controls OMORI as the game screen." This would be difficult to do in the medium of manga.

I am fully aware and I think your way to express it is actually rather good, especially considering the language barrier.
The 'psyche of Sunny' is one of the things I love the most so I admit that, like with my love for Basil, I may a bit too stern about it.

I think the manga took many liberties already, maybe Nui will surprise us and give us something surprisingly good. I know I can be rather critical of the storytelling, but I also like to believe the best until I am faced with negative results.
It's really difficult to adapt a masterpiece like OMORI into a manga medium, so I'm not even surprised thingsdon't feel completely 'right', so to speak.

I am currently streaming OMORI to a friend (We're playing it together, basically, it's a private thing since they don't actually enjoy playing RPGS and we are focusing on the story) and the amount of focus on small things and details is always astounding.
In the manga we don't quite see Sunny's many real world hallucinations (The friends in the park, Basil and Aubrey in the flower section of Fix It, Spaceboy above Hobbez before you go in for the first time-) nor the many wonderful npcs that make the real world more 'alive'

What we also miss is the feeling that despite his isolation, Sunny is a good good kid, that with kel's little support he does dare reaching out and that's what brings us toward the Universally Loved ending

The city feels alive, people learn to love Sunny real fast (three days), he is also helpful and kind and we can only 'blame' that on Kel so much. In the manga, the only focus is the friend group which I find it strips Sunny of some of his depth.
That being said? I think it'd be far too much filler IF we explored all the game offers

Yes. I also felt there needed to be more depictions of hallucinations (or fantasies) even in the real world.
For example, the battle event with JACKSON on the HOBBEEZ sign in particular showed how sunny could instantly sink into a fantasy.
But of course, these scenes were deleted.
It might have been good to include a scene where sunny catches a glimpse of a boss in the street, turns around in surprise, and there's nothing there. But for people who are seeing OMORI in the manga for the first time, it could have been seen as a "fear encroaching on reality" rather than a psychological problem on sunny's part, so I think the decision to delete it makes sense.

That's right... Another difficult aspect of turning it into a manga is that, literally, "Sunny doesn't speak."
Since Sunny had no lines in the game, of course she has no lines in the manga either. While this has made OMORI Game a wonderful work that can be analyzed by many people, I think it meant that we had to rethink aspects that couldn't be expressed with just pixel art, such as changes in facial expressions, each drop of sweat, and the emotional expressions on the hands and feet, for the manga.

I almost lost sight of what I was trying to say, but that just goes to show how difficult it is to portray the depth of Sunny.

As expected, his mind was destroyed and repaired just like mine was, and just like sunny's violin.

I think it would have slowed down the pace too much. While the manga is 'too fast', I think that the hallucinations and the Side characters would possibly have been too much- I would have still enjoyed seeing one or two (we have polly and candice, but they are 'essentials'.

I think it's very NICE ingame to see how Sunny sometimes stands there, staring at stuff (JACKSON, the whole recycling adventure...) and how even his close friends don't quite know what's happening with his mind anymore.

Using Headspace characters in background would have been really nice, I do agree with you and I fully support your take.

And I agree. Potraying the depth of Sunny isn't easy. I know because I am writing him (fanfictions, mod work and roleplay) and he's one of the most challenging characters to handle. I am impressed with OMOCAT's work.

On the non speaking- I do enjoy thinking of him as selectively mute. Vocal cords are also muscles in our body and they DO suffer of atrophy when non used for a time. Even knowing they're used for breathing so they do degrade more slowly, it is largely possible he may have issues speaking both on a psychological AND phsyical level. I am incredibly glad they kept this in the manga and I absolutely love how Kel shows his empathy well (or at least how much he knows/cares about Sunny) by being able to read him without a single word.

OMORI is an experience. I know it changed me. It is a blessing, for me, to be able to re-experience it with a friend who has never seen it and I love listening to their theories and comments as I play. If the gameplay is the difficult part for them, I shall be their hands in this experience.

(I also know I am shamelessly awaiting the underwater portion with Kel and OMORI's solo adventure when we will get to it. It may be a concept that everyone hates, but it certainly has a commercial aspect.
I think it's meant to let people who don't know OMORI know about the work, and I wanted to let them know that, depending on the contract, if it loses popularity in the middle of serialization in a monthly manga magazine, it may be canceled. That's why I couldn't make the manga with the same content as the game. That's why the first episode started with a white space and didn't end with just playing hide-and-seek with friends. (I certainly agree with the opinion that it's too fast-paced, but I have to say that there are various factors that are not visible.)
