that's because chapter 7 has been delayed twice already. the first delay came on the form of a holidays break for december, the month where chapter 7 was originally going to be released on, and an additional delay was then issued just a few days ago, via a statement from nui konoito (the artist of the manga), announcing that more time was needed before the release of the chapter. the motives for this second delay were not explained, so the best we can do is guess.
if it helps, nui konoito has also announced on that same tweet that chapter 7 will "definitely release in february"

The Art of the manga leaves more to be desired, with certain panels appearing hastily drawn, or some of them showing signs of AI assistance, which speaks negatively about the amount of "care" put onto the production of the manga. i say this because certain parts of the manga lay clear that the artist is not any sort of amateur when it comes to drawing. some panels look really good, and despite the disadvantage of not having access to color for the most part, certain areas are pictured in a way that's as striking as i imagined they would be when the manga was first announced. i do have to specify only "some" areas, however, as some other, equally important parts of the game are shown in a very "lazy" way, where it appears as if the purpose of the drawing was to simply "represent" what the story is describing, as opposed to "highlighting" it.
a main concern regarding this is that the production of the manga was not as smooth as either Nui Konoito, the artist, or OMOCAT, the director, were hoping it to be, and a potential argument in favour of this is that Chapter 7 of the manga, which was expected to be released on december 24th, was delayed to january 24th instead, and even then, 2 days before its release, an additional delay was announced, stating that the chapter will "definitely be released" on february 24th. the main hope regarding this is that the delays were issued in exchange for some needed time to elevate the quality up to the expected levels.

finally, The Artist of the manga is unfortunately also a point of controversy, as the history he carries is not what one would expect from an artist that's been assigned the task of officially drawing the manga. of course, separating the art from the artist is a learned skill, and it's very possible to simply "not care", but it is also worth noting that, by hiring an artist with the qualities of Nui Konoito, OMOCAT is approving of certain details that the art has, particularly its portrayal of characters and facial expressions, which can sour the experience under the context of an adaptation of an already established videogame.

if you're not looking for an "arrangement" of contention points, and are instead wanting a more subjective view on the matter, such as my personal opinion, i don't like the way the story is adapted, i think it's doing a disservice to the unbelievably more refined and more carefully designed story that the original game conveys. i can't believe how it must feel like reading the manga first and playing the game second. so far the story contains mostly the same elements as the videogame, but the presentation is extremely impoverished, and i think reading the manga is a waste of time when the videogame is right there

regarding the art, i think it's mostly okay, i recognize that a good drawing is not composed of "pretty-looking" art, moreso the way it presents or conveys an idea. there exists instances of successful mangas with below-average or vastly below-average art, that prove that as long as the idea of the drawing is legible, and the portrayal of what the accompanying text is describing is good enough, then you can get away with as many squiggly lines and shortcuts as you want.
at the same time, i think that it is fairly righteous to complain that an artist that has been hired by a director with copious amounts of money is not doing a job that meets the expected levels of quality from a greatly successful IP such as the OMORI IP. this of course is not putting the blame on the artist, but rather the director, for being either stingy or skinflint with their choices, or being biased in favour of their own personal wants and needs over the ones from the manga. i think omocat should have hired a more prestigious, or bluntly put, better artist. SPECIALLY for the kind of game that omori is. which does allow me to start talking about the fact that i completely disagree with the art choices that Nui Konoito has applied to the manga. i think the portrayal of certain scenes and characters is wildly inappropriate and frankly disgusting

askdj thank you for the compliment, but all of the english i've learned has been from playing videogames and browsing the internet, which means that while i try my best to make my messages as comprehensible as possible, everytime i've tried to speak english in real life, i ended up mumbling my words because english doesn't match up too well with the way the spanish language is pronounced. particularly things like a "soft" t, that can be found in words such as "boat" or "fruit", for example. words that end with "ing" on them are also tough, because in spanish, there aren't any common words that end with "ing", nor are there any words that require you to make the same sound that you would make when pronouncing a "soft" t in english. it can be a bit annoying at times, but i'm looking forwards to a very convenient "english course" that i will have to take on university this year as part of a programming course i'm studying in. i'm hoping one of the course's purposes is to orientate the student in correct vocalization of the english language, as that will finally give me an excuse to practice my spoken english without having to talk to myself.

at its core, i would imagine the university demands students of the programming course to have atleast a little bit of english knowledge, because a vast amount of programming languages are written in english, with their documentation being in english and their built-in functionality being written in english.
conditionals like "if", "else", "for each" and the like, are all written in english, and this has been the case in every programming language i've encountered, with the exception of the "Python" programming language, which supported an extension you could install that would translate all of the language's basic functionality to spanish. of course, Python is a divine creation of hope made by whichever god you believe in, meant to shed a light on the correct path for us programmers and sinners alike. this means that Python is an exception to the rule, and, even within Python, while you can translate its main tools and functions to spanish, the online documentation for how to use Python properly will still be in english, so a basic knowledge of the language is fundamental for any programmer to know what they're doing.
beyond that, knowledge of english is also beneficial in the sense that almost every programmer can speak english, due to the reason listed above. if all the guidance on how to use a programming language is in english, and all the programming languages are in english, then it stands to reason that all the programmers would speak english as well, which is a major advantage if you're looking for jobs, specially in foreign countries, where by chance it might result that neither the employee or employer speak the same native language, but they both happen to have a perfectly functional domain of the english language.
essentially, you need to know how to speak english if you want to partake in programming outside of your school's tutoring, or as an extracurricular activity

Also, although this is a matter of how the reader interprets it, there are some changes that are unique to the comic adaptation.
The meaning of the scene where Sunny slashes Aubrey is particularly different from the game.
In the game, he attacks Aubrey as a battle that is an extension of the headspace adventure of defeating enemies.
In the manga, it is expressed as the attack being caused by Sunny's inner weight.
Because of this, I feel that we should read the manga not as a perfect copy of the game, but as a sort of another world.

In the scenes where BASIL or the Stranger appear, the background is indeed blank.
The mysterious purple space of the headspace is drawn in the background until they appear.
When I think about this scene in the game, it is just before OMORI and Sunny awaken from the headspace to the black space or the real world, so I could understand it as a manga expression. It is true that the white background may look like a shortcut.
If Nui and OMOCAT were closer, I think they could have communicated more closely and aligned their thoughts on the manga work. But Nui is in Japan and OMOCAT is in America. If they could see the manga being drawn side by side, they could make fine corrections. I think that would help them step up to a better work.

This may also be a part of Japanese manga culture, but backgrounds are often drawn by assistants rather than the artist themselves. However, there is currently no information that OMORI has an assistant for her manga. This is probably Nui's first commercial manga, so she may not have enough time to draw many backgrounds.
