omori however, is vastly different, as it was a globally released videogame, who then got a very hyped up manga adaptation that ended up only releasing legally for two countries, and then a physical edition that ended up being released for... one country... which is not necessarily the one with the highest accessibility or fanbase, and has clearly been stated to have been chosen merely because of omocat's bias towards japan.
i'm not sure if you were here when the KManga digital release got announced, but the disappointment was easily measurable across all fans.
to then do a double dip on it and release the physical version exclusively for one country, knowing full well just how saddened some fans were to not be able to read the manga legally because they were just... not in the right part of the world, is very rude and inconsiderate

yes. the best theory is that omocat llc was in charge of translation for the ps4 version as sony wasn't lazy enough to rely on google translate + AI and required at least 5 languages to be translated for it to be released in europe

i wouldn't necessarily agree with criticism of the manga being deemed as "ungrateful".
i feel like avoiding the criticism of a product can lead to the quality of that product dropping if nobody is there to complain about it. not everything has to be cheering and positive vibes.
for example, i'm sure you'd agree that the art in the manga could have been better than what it actually is, regardless of whether the artstyle is tolerable to you or not. there are some panels where nui had a clearly larger amount of time to work on, and as such, the quality of those panels is better than ones where nui was more rushed than would have been ideal.
take a look at the first panel attached to this image; you can see that everything on the panel is very detailed, with sunny's pose (which is the important thing to focus on) being very descriptive and well-drawn. you can see that even the picking up of the can has special flair added, so this panel, despite me not personally liking the artstyle, is admittedly very good! i think nui did a good job in this panel, and as such, it's the right thing to commend the artist for having drawn this.
however, take a look at the comparatively worse (worse is not a bad word) second panel, that i have attached to this post:
this panel is a double-spread, which means that if you were to physically buy the manga, it would cover both pages, hence the larger horizontal resolution.
these kind of double-spread panels are always meant to look beautiful, and are meant to highlight a certain moment; in this chapter, it was the first visit to the church, which i think is correctly depicted as being meaningful and important, i'm sure anybody who has played omori will agree that this is a big moment.
despite this, the art in this double-spread is very simple and lackluster. the center of the image is empty, the back of the church is just a flat wall, there's not a lot of people, aubrey is sitting in the wrong spot, it feels empty and rushed...

and through my research, just something i might notice is it looks a little similar to a Luthern church, not a catholic one, so i think thats super intresting
since luthern churches normally have a lot more of a norweigen design, while catholic churches mostly always have a figure or alter for jesus on the cross, lutherns normally have an alter with a picture of jesus, so its vastly different
