Aubrey is a vindictive person who lashes out at others for percived slights and wrongs against her while equally not being introspective enough to notice how she is contributing to an already shitty situation.

She's a girl with a strong sense of justice it's just that a lot of that is mired in resentment which corrupts her judgement.

That's at least how I always read her and that's what I think they were trying to capture.

True. Perhaps I'm also biased because of my personal reading into Aubrey. Because I sort of did a scene like this in my fic. It isn't one to one in the slightest and Aubrey has a different sort of reason for her outburst in anger in my story, but it was similar enough situation that I couldn't help but appreciate it.
