You're being wayyy too heavy on the controls and lifting too early - remember she's 80-odd years old. 
Point the nose down for longer, build up the speed until you're almost at the green arc, and pull up really gently to maintain a vertical climb of ~700fpm. ๐๐ผ

Yeah, there's not too many moving parts within the mechanism. Just knowing that the spring is right there touching your cheek with the manufacturing tolerances it has is a bit.. meh. Not that the strip of sheet metal that acts as rear cover offers much extra, but at least there is another thing that has to rattle loose before the spring comes in your face.
