Yeah. To each their own. I used to stack front to back left to right but I quit doing that after 17 and I haven’t had that issue since 17 so maybe that’s why 🤷🏻♂️

I wouldn't have to do it that way, but since the current map/shed layout allows it, I tend to "rotate" hay, straw and silage bales. Absolutely, completely, totally unnecessary, but that way I know how much I can sell in the dead of winter when the prices are best.

Meanwhile back at the Main Farm I was stacking my own hay in the fields while my hired hand (Travis) went through the forage harvester in preparation for corn silage starting this afternoon

Day 1
I bought field 29 to start of my career as a farmer after moving to Elmcreek. Had inherited $1,500,000 from my dad who had sadly passed form a lung infection caused by his smoking. The field had all ready been ploughed which had some canola ready to be harvested. Before I did anything else I bought a house that was pre-built and had it placed on my land. I then bought a New Holland harvester and header costing me $315,500 leaving me with $934,168. I then bought a cultivator, seeder and a large Fendt tractor, that I had found second for about half of its original price, all costing $358,000. It was a slow journey getting my brand new harvester from the shop to my house while only going 32kmh. The ride in my tractor was much more enjoyable. Listening to the mighty Diesel engine roar and the speeds were just enjoyable. I then remembered that I had forgotten to buy a trailer so that’s what I did. I also made sure to buy some seeds for my seeder. Once all my equipment was taken back to the farm,
I decided I needed a place to store it all. I rang up the shed guys and ordered a shed to be built. They said they had a pre-built one in stock and said they could deliver tomorrow. In the meantime I just left my equipment sitting around. After contemplating for a while I decided the thing to do would be to get my field all harvested. Since I was new to farming I took the time to read the instruction manual. It took me almost 1 hour to read but once I was done reading, I knew what I had to do. I started harvesting at 8:53 then had a full tank of grain at 9:03, I had 9300L of canola already. I finished harvesting the field at 9:10 leaving me with a trailer of grain containing 11077L. I didn’t know what I had to do with the grain so I asked some local farmers. Most of them said install a “silo”. So I called up Unia to see what they had. They said installing one could take up to 3 weeks. So I asked when would the soonest time be to install one.
They said they would be able to come check out my land and see what they are dealing with tomorrow. In the mean time is started cultivating the field for it to be sowed. Following on from here, Afternoon of August 2nd 2022, Black Creek Farms - Elk Mountain Wyoming.
As we were unloading bales the Northwest Stock Yard called and ordered their hay for the next couple of months, so rather than unloading and reloading a trailer I sent Travis (hired hand) over to the stockyard with the blue 389 to deliver their order.
Once we got all the Hay unloaded and had a quick lunch break in the shop we headed out to harvest some corn silage. Since we are just getting our cow operation set back up we expect a low silage usage this year so we only needed about 500k liters of silage, which only took a couple of hours to harvest, haul, pack and cover in the bunk.
When we got everything finished up and washed after silage cutting, it was about 3pm so I called my brother who owns Blackstone Excavation and Construction LLC, and asked about borrowing his D6 and tracked forestry grinder, as there were some trees around the edge of the field we harvested that were a little too close for comfort, and there are a few places that I wanted to level out before plowing the ground up and getting ready for planting winter wheat.
While Travis and I were at my Dale's (brother) place getting the D6 and Trex, we checked in on what they had been up to. He had been working on a level pad where he plans to build a new hog barn behind his grain bins, and he had Malia (his helper) working on the pad for his new shop with a 622 track loader
We spent the remainder of the afternoon working in the field we harvested silage from leveling out those places I wanted and doing some light forestry to remove some pesky trees. As we are waiting for harvest time to start next month, this project will likely be all we do the rest of the month, but we hope to have it finished and get this field plowed before starting into our actual corn harvest in just a couple of weeks.

(Roleplay) New Holland dealer finally opened, traded in my little tractor for a TM120. While I was at it, I decided to get an unsold stock skid loader for moving stuff around. It was about $3,500 less than a brand new one because it had been on the lot for a few years.
Hoping that the Bobcat will be good for the things I need it for, mainly bale trailer loading and digging.
I switched the TM120 and my JD 7100 to powershift because I hate CVT tractors for personal use

They've since moved to smaller buchers for the more compact areas and truck mounted stuff for the larger areas. Swap bodies to have the things usable year round and double as plows, earth moving stuff and what not. I also reckon quite a bit smaller fuel bill.

we tend to use a range of Kubotas and Isekis. As well as small domestic Husqvarnas and such. Mostly because they're cheap, keep going for about 4 seasons and then are discarded because there's absolutely nothing left of those things. Those things get Beat Up.
could get a machine 4 times as expensive, maybe keep it going for about 6 years and then discard it because it's absolutely beaten up, not worth to fix up and-or keep going and get the same "money" off of it as you do with those things that are far cheaper to buy...
