to be honest, I play with PF since few months and it isn't actually very hard to play with. just apply lime when pH is low and apply some nitrogen as well.

remember that various ground types have different properties, like better/worse yield, keeping pH or nitrogen for longer in the ground.

Its less pain than base game because you dont have to fertilize three times to get a decent crop. And just like real life Legumes don't need any Nitrogen at all (Ingame Fertilizer), but obviously you still do need to apply lime every once in a while.
