Make the ground not one big square but round it off a bit and add grass/bushes around the buildings in spots that aren't traveled much, as if they've naturally become a bit overgrown. I tend to do that around walls of sheds that don't have doors in them and such. Same with adding grass below that silo on the right as no one would really be able to mow that properly, and weeds would form naturally.
Things like that would help the farm feel a bit more 'lived in' without messing with AutoDrive, as it should ignore bushes. (and definitely ignores grass)

yeah autodrive generally doesnt bother with any foliage unless collision avoidance is on. and then its only trees. however i usually dont use it cuz it functions rather oddly sometimes. especially on hilly maps (tho obv this is flat af)
autodrive can do tight maneuvers, but it requires an extremely precise balance of the farm layout and the route. very tough to do

fences are generally only an issue for long vehicles. low-loaders and big trailers and such, as they generally need way more room to turn.

Meadow grass that's placed with the 'plant' option of the build menu (along with the standard grass on a map) will grow back once cut.
Note that grass placed with the 'paint' tool is flat and will remain flat.

yeah. idk why there isnt just "grass" in the plants tab. meadow grass also includes flowers and such, and there is a very clear visual distinction between the grass that came with the map, and painted meadowgrass. it bugs me

Yeah that's generally down to the mapper, but even some of the basegame maps won't have both of the native grass types enabled in the build menu unfortunately.

Silverrun Forest has the same thing where the native "half length" grass isn't in the build menu, and I have to get creative with blending in meadow grass in organic shapes in order to make it look natural
