As I said, I am not too experienced with mapping so all I can do is recommend Giants Editor (must have to do this), Blender (for buildings and whatnot), and Houdini (makes life easier when creating landscape, roads etc)

is linux reallly better performance wise in gaming?

It's less demanding than windows, but not every game will run bug free on Linux, some may even not work at all, even with emulators

No offense, it's a tricky subject and I highly recommend doing research before trying to get into Linux for a everyday computer, it can be complex and frustrating to work with sometimes, whereas windows is very user friendly
(Note that there are many user friendly flavors of Linux, hence why research is all the more important)

As for how much actual performance gain you'll get is pretty complicated to figure out

I run both operating systems, Linux on my servers and windows 11 on my personal gaming computer, so I really only know the server side of linux

If you're simply looking for more performance I'd recommend upgrading if that's financially viable, Linux may offer some gains but depending on patience and knowledge it may be more aggravation than its worth 😄

Because of the yield returned from farming that way.

If you farmed the world in a predominantly organic way, and did not use any artificial nitrogen fertilisers, using current practices and technology, you would need more land to obtain the sheer quantities of grain and other products we produce annually today

Conventional agriculture can produce double or even quadruple the yield of organic crops in some situations. This means you don't need the same amount of land and you can leave a lot more of the landscape well alone and to nature as it was intended.

We have a lot of chalk soils in the UK, these are high pH and often not very deep in terms of depth. It also means they are quite hungry and don't hold on to fertility very readily.

So not all soils are particularly acid and need lime.

The most of them around here will be pH 6.5 which is ok for most crops.

Odd bit of clay or organic soils here and there will be lowerer and need lime once every 4-5 years

Of more importance is the soil phosphate and potassium reserves.

Fortunately you can replace these with manure, slurry, digestate or sewage sludge

Plenty of livestock around here

Around here they often stockpile over days before its either covered over or spread, and worked into the ground.
