This post is mostly to make Knockout happy, but I agree with it as well.
The Harrier, is an inferior jet in almost all measurable metrics, except for one thing, it has V/STOL capabilities. Unfortunately we never get to use that capability in its true purpose, because we'll only buy it when we have an airfield, because it requires some type of SEAD capable asset first before it can operate.
But once we have an airfield, the incentive to buy the Harrier diminishes, because it's inferior (and rightfully so)
My suggestion, add 1 single HARM instead of one of the Mavericks. This would open up for the jet to be bought early / mid campaign, because it can use its V/STOL capabilities to take off from austere runways / helipads while still being a somewhat not entirely stupid buy.
The results of this, as Marines we get an aircraft that's able to do exactly what it's meant to do, provide CAS early invasion, when infrastructure isn't setup yet (and able to land on LHD's). Will it be balanced, I guess so, as the HARM will remove one of its offensive capabilities as a ticket to be able to fly and once we get an airfield it'll probably still not be bought again.
