I would agree that Chatmix is not a basic feature in headset industry but SS headset use it as a unique selling proposition and therefore it should work. I did not read the whole chat but probably that's the point @stray pine wants to make

Combining chatmix with sonar is tbh the only reason I bought my Steelseries arctis nova 7 and accept some disadvantages:

• it's a heavy headset and has too much weight on the headband => leaning forward it would fall of my head
• the mic quality is compared to others headset in the same price range not that good (especially the SS nova pro wireless which is much more expensive); using an external mic so that's not a major issue to me

Still I would like to know when we can expect more stability on sonars end because I need to open the window every day to change settings it lost because of no reason. And I need to right click the tray icon to click again to open the window (where the side bar can not be collapsed so the window take much space)

I do not use sonar to pitch sound settings for game specific audio but more to manage audi seperated between game and voicechat

Most headsets have some type of chat mix functionality, but either way, the way it was advertised for the Nova Pro was a significant reason I made the decision to purchase the high-end version. It's definitely been frustrating since setting it up. Not being able to use the gaming channel also means most of the EQ functions that they advertise for sonar don't work

I totally understand you and I went with the cheaper option and from a headset standpoint it fullfills its purpose but it still feals like a failure when the software makes too much trouble to rely on it

So Sonar should definitely be more stable and the next release cycled should just focus on optimising the software and fixing bugs before introducing new features

i mean that's basically what any headphones are. just two speakers right next to your ears.

it's best to make sure any audio programs from your last headphones are uninstalled, and then from there to tweak the EQ in Engine or on the mobile app. you might just be used to an certain EQ from a previous headset. I think there's a few non-game EQs in there you can try? the music ones might be a good starting point.

If I add the Stream Mix that includes my mic, every scene in Streamlabs can hear my mic / game audio.

there's a bug in discord right now that it thinks that sonar's audio devices are part of the desktop audio. the workaround is when you stream on discord, just select the app you want to share instead of your entire desktop. that way discord will capture just the app audio.

I'm looking into this and as far as I'm aware, we never had a Black Ops 6 preset in Sonar. One is coming up in GG 75, so maybe this article was published early? I'm not quite sure at the moment.

Regardless, we definitely haven't been asked to remove any EQ presets, and the preset from GadgetryTech is still available and working with the link in the blog post.

Hey there, I just got an Arctis Nova 3 headset as a birthday present and I'd like to try it out with my current setup to see if I like the sound better than my old headphones, but I cannot for the life of me get Sonar to produce any sound.

I'd like it to route the sound into my Schiit Modi 2 but when I have that set as the routing device in Sonar and my headset plugged into the device, it doesn't work. Additionally, even if I just plug the headset directly into my PC using the USB-A cord and route the Sonar audio into the headset using that, it still doesn't work. That's with the windows output devices set to the Sonar devices btw. If I set it to be the standard devices I'd be routing to, then the sound works fine.

Im a little confused on how device switching is supposed to work. When sonar starts (for me this is on boot), if my headset is not plugged in, it should default to my speakers. In sonar's case, the output is Sonar - gaming. So why is it no computer audio is played through the gaming channel, and rather the Sonar - chat channel?
I have to manually switch the output every time sonar is on, to either my speakers, or Sonar - chat to hear desktop audio, assuming my headset is not powered on. If this is the case, why force Sonar to be the default device at all?

yeah, bluetooth has very limited bandwith and quality. make sure you use the dongle or base station that comes with it, since those use a different wireless connection with a higher quality

I just bought a nova pro today, wasted 6 hours of my life trying to get Sonar working with the up-to-date GG v75. Problem: Only Sonar Chat produced any sound, others zero, while the headset sound worked fine without GG.
Even produced error sound when trying to test those channels in Windows Sound Settings. Microphone is dead. Only picks up some bare minimum sound.

My partial solution is to install the previous version of GG 74. It started picking up applications, so i could finally play Spotify (previously it didn't even start playing as Sonar Media/Gaming were not working).
Microphone is still basically dead (picks up some sound but REALLY low volume, regardless of microphone options)

one piece of guidance i usually give is that the headsets still should work totally fine without Sonar. If you have Sonar off and the mic is still acting up or sounds bad, then that might indicate either a hardware issue, or an issue elsewhere within Windows.

Saw on reddit that I can close GG, edit version.json, change 74 to 75, save, then reopen GG. This will cause it to think it's already at 75 and to not autoupdate to that actual version. Hope this works...

I have had alot of issues with Sonar the last week++. Every time i start my PC, i have to manually change to backup playback device (speakers) and back to my headset (Nova pro wireless), and then into the game's audio settings and change back and fourth between playback devices to get audio on my headset at all. Chatmix (wich i use alot everyday) dont work at all. The volume levels dont change at all. I have tried to install both GG.72 and GG.74, but this doesent fix my problem. Anyone able to help? Is this even the right channel for this?

Hello there, I've just purchased the 'Steelseries Arena 9' and using Sonar with that. For some reason whenever I try to play 'Hogwarts Legacy' I have to choose between either hearing Sound effects/music or voices, if I hear voices I don't hear sound effects/music and the other way around. I've had this issue for a couple of days and can't seem to get it resolved. Seriously doubting to return these speakers, It's basically forcing me to choose between the 'Sonar Gaming' sound option or 'Sonar Chat' I can't seem to make the two collide and experience the game as you should. I had to :

• Unactive the basic Arctis Nova Pro Wireless (not those with Gaming or else)
• Reinstall v75
• Active the basic headset again
• Finally I could add headset again in Sonar.

I hope there is a way to not have automatic update so I could just stay like this for the next two year and avoid crap update. -_-

Hello!! I think I may have a set of dumb questions for ya'll so I appreciate the time to read this. I don't Stream, but I use Sonar so my mates can listen to my music while we co-op games. New user, and back to PC from 15 years on console. I'm figuring out things as I go, and after every reboot things always seem to be a little different where (for example) "add to personal mix, add to stream mix" seem to need to be checked or unchecked randomly. They do not persist? Also, apps need to be shuffled from one channel to another manually. Thoughts on setting persistence? I always need a few minutes of fiddling around to get things right.
Dumb question 2. Is there any detriment from having Stream mode enabled? Not sure why the option needs to be selected. This is more of a curiosity question. If you turn it off the interface looks "cleaner" but is there a resource usage downside to streamer mode?
Should I turn it off if I am not sharing music w/ my dudes? Hope these questions make sense! Thanks!!

Hey All, quick question. I use both Sonar and the Steel Series Nova 7 headset, last night everything was A-okay with no issues (as it has been for quite some time now).

However, today it seems like audio no longer wants to be put through Sonar. Discord audio & General audio works perfectly fine when I set the default output to the headset itself, but when I try to route it through the mixer I get nothing.

I've reset defaults, re-setup the mixer, reconnected the bluetooth on both my headset and the dongle-thingy and made 100% sure that the audio wheel on my headset wasn't the issue, however the problem persists. Any help is appreciated xx

I've also now just seen there seems to be an issue with the recent update, so please ignore above if this is still the case.

Hello all. I've been using Sonar for a while now with no issues. However, when I play Black Ops 6 I have to set the audio output to Sonar AUX instead of Game, because if I set it to Game I get no audio at all.

Does anyone know if there's a way I can fix this? I do not have the audio options under AUX that I have under Game and would like to utilize those. This seems to be the only game giving me this issue.

Have you tried doing the routing through Windows?

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

If you are having issues with routing not working or apps moving back to another device after dragging them, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

My speakers work without it, but when i turn it on and use gaming as the default i have no sound. In sonar tab, there are no apps to be routed either. Any ideas?

Does anyone else get choppy audio playback while in game?

I’m using Arctic Nova Pro (wired) on PC

I’m playing WoW classic Cata and randomly my audio will start getting super choppy (game audio and discord audio at the same time) and I can’t find a solution, but I’m wondering if it is sonar related. This has been happening off and on for the last few months.

hello i need help setting up my headphones using the gg app cant seam to get it to work and wont let me play music on spotify would appreciate any type of help
