In that case if you'd like to control the volume of multiple channels, try to use our shortcuts.
You can use the same shortcut for both of the channels and it should lower the volume for both.

You can set a shortcut for the Master volume if you'd like to manage the general sound level.

The headphone knob should work for the general sound level. You cannot manage only some of the channels.
The keyboard knob is linked to the Game channel (we know... not ideal, but this is a technical solution we had to implement for other purposes)

aye, close and reopen the program for it to come back on my computer. Sometimes I have to reboot, but that's usually only when I try to kill the service in Task Manager.

Since all of the routed apps disappear when they are closed, Is there a way to re-route everything to one output or another? I use it to pretty seamlessly move between my headphones and desk speakers, but it's a one at a time task to move them all over again.

I am sorry if this has been asked 1000 times before but is there some quick switch option or some hotkey that can make it easier to switch between my headset and my PC speakers. As of right now the only two ways I know to handle this is to either change the playback device under media or to setup my speakers under AUX. Hey there, just installed the sonar software, and am using it with the latest OBS. So, my question is this, I set individual audio output captures, one for "Steelseries Gaming", one for "Steelseries Chat". With the mixer in OBS, should the volume levels in the mixer go down if I adjust the volume in the sonar app? Because they do not. I just want to ensure I set up the OBS audio captures correctly so that I can control the viewers (stream) audio and my own (so I don't hear music and such as loud as them).

is there a way to completely disable spatial audio? because even if "Spatial Audio" is switched off, some games or programs detect the audio as 7.1 leading to situations where if I face my back (in games) towards the source of the sound, it's completely muted

the same thing happens to Valorant, apex or palworld, on apex it detects it as 7.1, so any noise from the back of the player is muted, switching to stereo fixes it. Unlike in Pal World, there's no setting for audio type, which won't let me switch to stereo to fix the problem.

Valorant used to have this issue similar to palworld, but they've fixed it by supporting surround sound and setting to stereo actually does set it to stereo.

Like if I connect my headphones to PS5 does it automatically just use the Engine EQ settings.

Then when I connect to PC does it use Sonar EQ settings and would it matter what the Engine EQ settings are? Do they conflict with each other?

In that case, is there a way to turn off Engine EQ if it's designed for Consoles and other devices and just use Sonar EQ exclusively since it's designed for PC?

Anyway here is what I did in order for discord and chrome to appear on sonar:

In order for my discord to show up I had to actively join a voice channel or perform a voice call through dm.

In order for google chrome to show up I had to play some form of media on the web browser for this example I'm playing a youtube video.

Maybe you could try doing that?

generally for all wireless steelseries headsets, the USB cable is for charging and firmware updates only. it won't send audio and it won't (usually) show in Engine as connected.

3.5mm is an analog connection so it does not send power or data. just analog audio.

you can still use sonar with devices that use 3.5mm, you just need to tell sonar to use the audio device that runs the 3.5mm port. usually for onboard audio it's named something like realtek or intel

Hi, I currently have a weird situation where my sonar is in an never ending loading screen, every other tab (like moments or engine) show up imediatly. For those who has issues with sonar. Eventually turn off and turn ON may fix it or to resteart completely the application of SteelSeries may help. Also What I found is that in a main user can work well, but if you use different users may fail more often. And one time is ON, it works pretty stable. Just I found with my Studio headphones it modify a little bit the real sound making it 1% modified, not so natural as everything off and using pure estereo sound of my integrated sound chip my motherboard has. But if quality of headphones or speakers has poor quality and some frecuences are missing or for example my big speakers have much intermediate sound but low and high sound is pretty weak, so with equalizer of Sonar it fix very well the sound to have plane or a bass jump with speakers. When my integrated sound card it doesn't have equalizer.

It has the normal surround, crystalizer, bass, smart volume and voice plus options only...

Also it works pretty well for microphones

When sound is broken it's because CPU limit, just may sound bad if our CPU find its limit playing or doing any task that demand 100% our CPU.

Also it happens to AMD suppresion tools too I believe, for people as me, I found still it works better to use discord suppresor sound for now.

Good news from Sonar is that VS amd, Sonar is understandable

unfortunately you can't port them over since Sonar uses a more detailed parametric EQ and the headset itself is limited to a graphical 10-band EQ. Sometimes they'll port over a few EQs in a firmware update but otherwise the only way to get it on the DAC is to make the EQ yourself in Engine.

Engine is used to modify device settings. Generally, any changes made in Engine are saved to the device itself, and can be carried over to other devices such as consoles. It's recommended to check the SteelSeries support pages for more information on what is saved on-board for your particular product.

Sonar is used to enhance your audio on the PC that is currently running it. Changes in Sonar only apply to the machine it's running on and cannot be saved to the headset.

in practice very often when I turn on the PC Sonar goes into "infinite loading" and doesn't open, blocking any type of audio use.
I've tried everything, even contacted SteelSeries support... have any of you had the same problem as me and know how to solve it? Because I'm going crazy!

I currently tried:
close the app with task manager and open it as administrator
completely uninstall and reinstall gg software
uninstall opera browser (because it has a vpn) and uninstall and reinstall gg software

all these methods have sometimes "fixed" the problem, but when I restart the PC it comes back again.
I also tried changing the USB inputs of my devices (I use Nova Pro wires and sometimes Amazon Alexa Echo Dot as a Bluetooth speaker) but nothing.

My Arctis 9's allowed me to assign "Chat" to the media function in sonar which then meant I could use the media function so that I could set an equaliser for my music and also use the chatmix wheel to filter between the game and music sound. I've just picked up the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless and it seems I can no longer assign game or chat to each channel so now I cannot mix between media and game but only chat and game. Is this an issue for anyone else?

After the ver 56 updated I am noticing when my computer goes to sleep that the audio piped throiugh the Sonar software is super choppy. It sounds like what you experience with a FM radio that has interference on it. I confirmed its only the sonar software though, with sonar off everything sounds just fine. Also restarting the software, whether through exiting or task manager doesn't fix it. Only restarts fix it.

Any thoughts? suggestions? Hoping someone might know what services on the computer its touching that I can easily restart instead of the whole computer. Also hoping its on the radar for patching.

Yes that feature is available on Nahimic. However, Nahimic needs a "certified" hardware, for example most MSI laptops support it and some Motherboards. That means you needs to go to the manufacturer site and download the support drivers that should install the Nahimic base APO. Some manufacturers also offer an extra Nahimic helper to force the installation of the Nahimic Panel from the Windows Store. For example I have a MSI Stealth GS75 and a Studio 17 A13, both have the option to install Realtek drivers with Nahimic APO.

But you must understand that Nahimic and GG Sonar are 2 different APO products and you cannot use them at the same time. Also GG Sonar works on any hardware, Nahimic only works on the authorized hardware.

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

If you are having issues with routing not working or apps moving back to another device after dragging them, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

Go to your discord settings and put mic on Steelseries Sonar - Mic and the other on Steelseries Sonar - Chat

And also go to sound settings > App and Device Preferences > Route the channels to each app correctly. Browser > Aux, Music Apps > Media, Games > Game, Chatting apps > Chat

Theres a new option when starting the stream to "stream device audio" or some like that, you can turn that off.

Or people can mute your stream too. If you want to stream for example youtube use the "stream app" function to just stream your browser.

I had issues with discord's noise cancellation messing with my mic settings. If you turn everything off it should fix it. Recently got the Alias Pro and it sounded like total garbage until I turned all that off

for the less nasal eq: just guessing that it might take some of the hiss out
for the compressor: the compressor tries to keep sounds at a constant level, so if someone's making a noise that's too loud, it should "compress" the sound so it's not as loud. also just kinda guessing it'll help since i'm not sure if it's a volume issue

1) Re-run the GG installer. You do not need to uninstall now, but downloading and re-running the installer can help repair any broken files. You can download the latest version at https://steelseries.com/gg.

3) Check anti-virus software, if installed. If you’re running any additional antivirus beyond the built in Windows Defender, you may need to make sure that these programs are not blocking Sonar. 

4) Uninstall any other audio processing programs. In some cases, other software on your PC can interfere or block Sonar’s processing. Some known software that you may need to uninstall includes: 

* Voicemeeter 
* IntelliGO (comes preinstalled on Dell/Alienware machines) 
* Waves MaxxAudio (comes preinstalled on Dell/Alienware machines) 

5) Fully uninstall and reinstall GG. If all else fails, you can uninstall GG and do a fresh install. This will wipe all your GG settings, which is why this is last on the list. ```

Has anyone had issues when using sonar where your mic will randomly change its own volume settings? For example I was playing the finals with friends and constantly throughout the match my mic volume was set to 8% when originally it was 30 and when I did set it back to 30 it would randomly fluctuate to either higher or again lower percentages

For those that are having issues with Sonar not turning on, after deleting all my other voice-software (Voicemeeter, RTX Voice, Krisp, etc.) I noticed even with them not currently active or default to my system, sometimes Sonar would refuse to start. I had problems for weeks until I deleted my other voice software and did a complete fresh install of GG.

3. This action will also close out GG

Is there any way to setup a mic profile based on each mic? I regularly switch between my main mic and my headset mic, currently I have sonar setup for my main mic with the perfect EQ and noise reduction settings. When I switch to my other mic the settings are consistent, so if I wanted to make it sound better I have to re-configure it or leave it.

So it would be pretty cool to have a switch to allow unique settings per input?

If you just updated to the 57 update, try restarting your pc. I had this issue with the infinite loading and restarting fixed it for me at least.

I could use some help, so I had sonar set up and working to in take my mic and output into discord. But all of a sudden I started getting notification for discord saying it's not detecting my mic(the Sonar - Microphone input) yet to was still outputting to discord just fine. Yesterday it just all of a sudden stopped working. I can see the Sonar getting my mic input but it's not outputting to another applications.

Anyone have any ideas what's wrong, or where I should start to debug this issue?

if it is and still not working make sure your input device in discord's settings is "steelseries sonar-microphone"

Q is basically how aggressive the frequency if filtered. Don't quote me on the exact numbers but a basic example is a Q of 6 @ 31hz might apply from 30 to 32hz, a Q of 0.1 might be from 25 to 36hz. As I said the numbers are accurate but should give you a bit of an idea.

I could also be wrong, but that is my basic understanding of it

Depends on what you are trying to do. Maybe try a few different values, if you can't tell the difference, then it doesn't matter for you.

No idea what you are talking about, unchanged compared to what? If you don't want it changed, then don't change it. It won't automatically change anything. If I were you I would look up on youtube to see if anyone has done a video for an EQ on your headset and try a couple. Maybe try a few from the new configs channel and see if there is one you like. EQ tuning can be a details science where high end audiophiles will use frequency analysis tools to measure highs and lows in frequency ranges and tune accordingly. This is where the Q mainly comes in, adjusting a frequency that has been identified as being too much or not enough and precisely tuning it.
