After several days of trouble shooting i think i have found out that Sonar has major issues with Intels Efficiency Cores.
My Setup is: Headphones/Mic <-> Vocaster One (Interface) <-> Sonar <-> everything else ala OBS, Browser, Games etc.
Short explanation: I swapped out my CPU (12400F -> 13500) and suddenly i had regularly the case that my audio started buzzing or was literally gone (often occurred when i was loading into a game or opened a new Tab in my browser) until i would restart either Sonar or my interface. Because i noticed that the audio-sources would be gone in OBS sometimes i concluded that it probably isnt my Interface.
Then i thought that it might be Power Spikes, so i upgraded my PSU. (530W -> 850W)
Well... the problem was still there, so i started to fiddle around, until i deactivated the E-Cores and it was gone. I swapped them on and off a few times to see if the effect would be the same and yes, without the E-Cores everything was fine.
For the final test, i used Process Lasso to 1. set priority permanently to "Above normal" and 2. to permanently change core-affinity that it would only use the P-cores.
And since then (2 days) the problem didnt occurred even once.
So it seems that Sonar has in some shape or form issues with Intels new E-cores that would probably be nice if they could be fixed or at least exclude the E-cores for Sonar permanently.

this actually comes down to a windows issue with how it handles audio processing when more than one interface is involved. that crackling is the audio overhead running out of buffer space. I used to use Equalizer APO with Voicemeeter and ran into the same issue that was resolved by making the audio encoder above normal prio and affinity set to the strongest performing single core.

Once again I ran into audio crackling when i went to Wave Link and Sonar. Except this time Wave link has built in buffer sizing and the crackling issue is gone as I resized the buffer.

the higher the buffer the more audio latency

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

If you are having issues with routing not working or apps moving back to another device after dragging them, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

generally once you set an app to another output it should stay there. if it keeps going back then that means the app itself probably has it's own audio settings and you need to change it in the app rather than in sonar.

I had hoped that the latest update would fix sonar trying to route sound to a turned-off headset after Windows sleep, but alas it does not. In my case it's that sonar does not recognize my default sound device after computer wakes from sleep (It's not listed under PLAYBACK in the Sonar dashboard). I need to restart GG app, which fails the first time, and then starts working correctly on the secont start. THere where some other people experiencing a similar issue - I'm curious if you are experiencing what kind of device are you using for default sound? In my case my monitor has a build-in speakers, which TBH Windows doesn't handle very gracefully, Idk why. Is anyone experiencing similar issue with standalone speakers?

I highly don’t recommend Sonar at all anymore considering the delays and the stuttering on discord, when I minimize a game and go to my Steam page while talking to my friend in game or discord, it will lag because even loading into a game will lag discord for me too.

Ever since I used Engine and uninstalled GG, it works just fine

Just when you decide to not use Sonar and disable it, go to your Engine settings on your headphones and keep it on Performance. Uninstall GG entirely and no more stuttering with your mic and headphones.

Cause I have a feeling that Sonar and the Spatial Audio in general ruins the quality of people speaking and your voice when talking cause it’s trying to process all the audio at once and too many processes will make it stutter like loading a game or going to a different tab

Hey guys. I'm new to this server and looking for someone who can help me out.

Yesterday, I had a 30sec power outage, afterwards, I noticed my Desktop PC no longer recognizes my Artics Pro Wireless Xbox version. I uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, I uninstalled GG and reinstalled GG and nothing. I even went as far as returning the headset and getting a whole new one. My computer still doesn't recognize the headphones. I can't even select it in GG because it doesn't populate. I'm currently running Win 11. Is anyone able to help me out here please.

This seems to be a very unique issue following a sudden interruption of power. If you've swapped the headphones you might have some kind of software corruption on your PC or maybe even as far as a hardware issue

This can be a temp Windows issue, and what you can do is change your sampling rate Hz from 48000 back to 44100 then back to 48000 in the Windows Sound Settings for your device.

if you disable prism you can use your keyboard to change config and colors

Once you enable Prism, switching configs with the steeleseries key + F9 will do nothing

I had re-opened SteelSeries GG last night and needed to log back in. Ever since then the game channel, which is my main output device in Windows, does not have any sound.

the virtual channels aren't supposed to show up in the dropdown. the dropdowns in sonar should only show physical devices. otherwise if the virtual devices showed up in the dropdowns you would be able to set sonar to output to itself.

yeah, there's been a few people coming in here saying the same. definitely shouldn't show up in the dropdown. i think it can happen if there's other audio software on your PC that's messing with Sonar and then sonar is confused what is and isn't the correct devices to show.

Remember the issue i had with the E-Cores of my 13500? Turns out - werent the E-Cores but the iGPU. Turned that off and my audio is as clean and without issues as ever.
Sadly it also didnt helped to assign Sonar and all other audio-relevant programs specifically to the dGPU. If the iGPU is on, the crackling and irregular sound-buzzing happens until i restart Sonar or my Interface. What kinda sucks, bc (Quicksync) was the main reason why i upgraded from my 12400F. (hoped it could increase stability when streaming+recording)
Do you have any other ideas, what i may could do?

leave it as default

make sure discord is default too

if sonar is set as the default audio for windows, it will correctly route to the chat channel

double check they are default here, game should be default, chat should be default communications

they should stay default here

and they should stay default here

when youre in a call it will populate to the chat channel and mic

all other discord notifications will chime in the game channel

It's recommended to check the SteelSeries support pages for more information on what is saved on-board for your particular product.

Sonar is used to enhance your audio on the PC that is currently running it. Changes in Sonar only apply to the machine it's running on and cannot be saved to the headset.

I have a bit of an odd issue, hopging someone might have any suggestions...

I've found that Sonar isn't updating when I adjust the 'chat mix' wheel on my Arctis Nova 7. It was working a week or so back, but has suddenly stopped. If I toggle streamer mode, it will adjust, but of course that is a PITA each time I want to adjust it.

Everything else seems to be fine, and when it does change (ie using streamer mode toggle) it does change what I'm hearing, it just doesn't automatically update to match the wheel.

Hello, I have a SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro wireless. I can't find the game equalizers (Mw2, Warzone, GTA 5, etc.) in the menu of the GameDAC base station when I'm on my PS5?
Do I have to add them from the Sonar application from a PC to have access to them by switching to the PS5?
I also don't have the games/chat mix when I'm on PS5 but I have it when I'm connected to my PC?

You might be able to do it super janky if you can find a usb sound card and plug it into the aux in, so the game is through usb to the headset and chat is the usb soundcard. But you wouldn't have ChatMix directly

Hi, i just got a arctis nova 3 and i download the software and for some reason when i use sonar sometimes it doesnt pick up the audio for my game and it puts it in the master tab and mutes it is there a way i can have it automatically go there rather than needing to swap it over every time?(photo for reference)

my friend has run into the same issue and I am not sure of a fix other than disabling the other devices so it wont swap to them (disable in windows manager not sonar)

Hey, I got the Arctis Nova Pro for Christmas, an upgrade from my Arctis Pro. I was already using Sonar so it's pretty much been plug and go but I wanted to check: do I not have this option for surround becuase it's built into Sonar?

When I launch COD MWIII 2023 it changed the profile for a split second and then goes back to default. Its the only game that does it please why is it doing this ;-;

Same problem here. Just restarted my PC and sonar wouldn't start. I've closed (with task manager, including main and background steelseries and relaunched several times, still continuous loading.

The only option for defaults is Chat and Game
