Clearcast AI is what's helping your background noise go away. The EQ is just to change the sound of your voice, but not necessarily volume. Check your volume mixer to be sure the gain is turned all the way up.

If your mic is still too quiet, you can always try using the Compressor under the mic settings to help boost it a little bit too

Yeah typing is hard to fully block out. It won't get it all

If you have a decent Nvidia GPU, you could always try Nvidia Broadcast for that

Hey guys, could anyone tell mye why is this happening.
Ive SS Apex Pro , and having normal ColorShift setting that works perfectly fine in normal use.
BUT, if I play CS 2 for example, after some time, it will switch off whole line and random segment of keys' LED.
i.e. whole numpad wont have any LED, whole line of tab, "qwertyuiop[] " even some F keys.
Have in mind, keyboard works, key press is fully functional, but LED just stops working.
And then it will randomly come on and off, whilst the rest of keyboard works fine.
When I quit the game, and go back tto windows, everything's back to normal.

Any ideas?

How do you stop steelseries from defaulting audio devices? Im using voicemeeter so its a pain having to do it on launch everytime.

I'm using sonar so theres 2 devices changed on every launch

Also on every launch, the gaming device does not function. I have to disable it and enable it manually every launch.

TLDR;
How do I fix these two problems?
1.) Steelseries defaulting devices on launch
2.) Steelseries Gaming (sonar) does not work unless disabled and enabled every launch

the arctis 9 had hardware chatmix so when you plug it in, it would show as two devices in windows. this is because these headsets predate sonar so the chatmix was built in.

on the new nova headsets, the chatmix is handled by the software. so there's only one output in windows, and you need to set the various Sonar outputs as your main outputs in discord and other apps

so discord should look like this

If you uninstall and install an older verion it will work (v43 worked for me). You then need to block the gg files from going to the internet so it doesn't update using windows firewall

You guys force me to update my headset to change audioo devices (how does that make any sense), then when I go to Engine you don't show me an update (so it's a glitch???) then I click it and suddenly there's an update, so I connect my headset as requested and the pop up disappears. NO UPDATE HAPPENS.

i have mine in "Chat" so in my settings my output for discord is set as "SteelSeries Sonar - Chat" and then when you have it open and are in a call itll be under chat

Just some feedback, but I'm glad the feature to easily share Sonar configs got implemented since it was suggested. Turns out there was a level beyond what I got with the Nova Pro that I was missing with my default EQ that just revealed itself thanks to other people being able to easily share their superior EQs

So far my only problem with Sonar is it seems to just die, for no reason I've been able to isolate yet. Maybe you should have a sub-setting in SteelSeriesGG, when Sonar is activated to periodically run SteelSeriesSonar, which already terminates duplicates. Otherwise I might have to determine how to do it myself with RestartMe or RestartOnCrash or the like.

Update 49.0 breaks Sonar. Only way i've found to fix it is to downgrade to 48.0.

but you'll have to do it every day because it auto updates and you can't turn it off.

Install, version 48.0, then when its installed, exit the Steelseries GG software, so its completly shutdown. Then go here: C:\Program Files\SteelSeries\GG , edit the version.json file with notpad. Change 48 to 49, save, and close it. Then it shouldn't update to 49 again

This tricks the update system into thinking you have the current version and doesn't update

I have a Steelseries arctis 4 nova wireless device. In games and Discord, my voice is transmitted very crackly to others.

new feature to see what the fallback device is is a good step in the right direction, but why not just let us choose the fallback device for when the headset is off? plus the option, that the chosen equalizer for the channel is only active when headset is on (usecase: if i play a fps i wear my headset with spatial sound enabled, when i then play another game lets say a 2d platformer i turn off the headset and therefore do not need spatial sound but still use channel "game")

i'm pretty sure once you change the fallback device once it'll remember it and fallback to it. so for example if you turn the headset off and it changes to your monitor, then you manually set it to your speakers, it remembers the speakers the next time the headset turns on/off.... but maybe that's just how mine works?

Potential Solution - Sonar endless loading
Due to outdated Windows version completely missing Sound Settings

• Issue: Sonar does not ever finish loading, displays "Turning Sonar on..." forever
• Symptom I noticed: Sound settings were nowhere to be found on my computer. Settings > System > Sound screen, where you should be able to select sound devices and click "App volume and device preferences" at the bottom, did not exist at all
• Searching online, someone with identical Windows sound issue solved by using Windows Media Creation Tool to force update their OS to the latest version. I did this and the most recent version of Windows as of this post did indeed contain the proper Sound settings as well as various other things that weren't working for the same reason. Reinstalled Sonar, successfully loaded.

1. Check Windows version with Win+R and running winver
2. Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/, then your version, then check the build version it says against your own from winver
3. IF they are different, AND your sound settings are missing, this may help you - continue
4. BACKUP YOUR STUFF! THIS IS AN OPERATING SYSTEM INTALL! Though it shouldn't affect your files, doesn't hurt to just be safe
5. Download the media install tool, run it, let it think, Upgrade PC and keep files
6. It'll do the install, with restarting, updates, etc
7. Reinstall GG / Sonar if needed

Hopefully this helps some of you guys.
This fixed a lot more than just Sonar for me, and didn't mess with any of my files/settings/etc as far as I can tell

In Sonar, is there a way to save presets for the mapping of logical devices (Game, Chat, Media, etc.) to physical devices (Arctis Nova Pro, Cheap Webcam with a Crappy Mic That Nobody Should Ever Use For Audio Input, Not-Very-Good Speakers in my Monitor, etc.)? Those get reset every once in a while, like when I install NVidia updates, and it's irritating to have to reset all the settings individually.

sonar is designed with gaming to be the main output. it doesn't support other outputs being the main one in windows, so if you change it, it'll just change it back on the next boot

Hi! Is there a way to force Sonar to use only stereo? For example, Hunt Showdown uses a binaural sounds and if i turn on sonar (even with spartial audio disabled) the sounds are really disorientated. Steps that should be in front of me are very quiet and far away. If i turn a bit left or right they get much clearer.

I searched the whole web and all my settings, but there is no way to switch the sound driver from 8-Speaker to 2-Speaker. The only way would be to drag&drop the Hunt Showdown from Game-Mixer to the Chat-Mixer (which is stereo only), but then i loose the ability to use a dedicated EQ profile for voice and game.

Currently i don't use any steelseries hardware, only the software which is very cool. But the disoriented surround sound is a deal breaker 😕

I think most of the issues here are due to people NOT switching the apps to steelseries in the windows settings for Audio. If you have never worked with Virtual Audio Cables before, you might want to do research on it first. I have had no problems with sonar at all

and for those who have had a goXLR, sonar should be a piece of cake.

Cause, the way i'm running it is:
so its like this:
ROUTING
Aux Vm

Steelseries Media:

• Separate Eq for Chrome
  Steelseries Game:
• Everything else with a different Eq setting

Input Vm

Steelseries Chat:

• Separate Eq for voices (discord etc)

In control Panel

• Aux Vm is set to default
• Input Vmis set to default communication
  That way I can let people here my audio without the discord chat interfering (if I want to turn that setting on which I do sometimes)

And then I have light host (an external application for plugins, which is routed to hardware input 1; my guitar)
I have an audio interface so

• A1 is my headphone line for that
• A2 is my normal bluetooth headphones
• A3 are speakers

its a very complicated routing

but, summary is, all I need is for the default setting of sonar to stop and there is no problem

Honestly, it's not even that big of a problem, having it stop defaulting would just make my life easier and it would be super convenient

everything works perfectly (thats if I set the voicemeeter devices to default)

I honestly wonder why this happens:

Is there an fast an easy way to switch the "Media" thing from my speaker to the headset and back? Until i just installed sonar i used "ear trumpet" and just did a quick rightclick on the tray icon to select the desired audio output for all software (chrome, games, etc)

nova pro wireless has two methods:

• there's fallback built into the hardware, so you can just plug the speakers into the line-out on the base station. you'd need to turn OFF device fallback in the settings of GG if you're using the hardware one
• there's fallback in the software called device fallback, it should be in the settings.

No you can't, i've tried. for some reason sonar makes everything master output controlled. no matter what i do, I can't lower the volume in the stream audio to block the viewers from hearing the music. wavelink has that control

Following up on this. Version 48.00 still works fine. Its exclusive to 49. I saw some other reports of the same issue (infinite loading wheel) and it all seems to be tied to the latest update. I must have installed it during a reboot or something.

Only steelseries gear I'm currently running is an Aerox 3 wireless. But I like using sonar for some EQ through a MOTU M4 interface.

yeah, if an app has it's own audio settings then it can override the drag and drop settings in sonar. so you should check to make sure that discord is set correctly.
