have you tried re-running the GG installer? it'll force reinstall everything if you run it again but it won't delete any custom things

also might help to try a different USB port for the dongle

I have done a complete re-install twice and I've tried plugging the dongle into a usb-c slot directly as well as a usb-a slot with an adapter.

mostly just spitballin, the only ones who would know for sure is #official-support

Nothing that should be interfering with it, although there is THX spatial audio as well as intel smart sound technology and nvidia drivers installed by OEM

the other software thing is hard to say, there's been a few threads in #1047622297382567936 where people with dell/alienware machines have had issues with some OEM software not playing well with sonar

but that's getting pretty deep into it and might just be a red herring

what do you mean trash? Like you clipping or it has a noise gate so your getting cut off? all of these are settings in discord you can modify

Hi I have the Arctis 7 Wireless and am thinking about upgrading to the Nova 7 Wireless. One feature I really need though is the "Line Out" from the Arctis 7s that switches to my aux speakers when the headset is off and back to the headset when its turned back on. My question is does the "Device Fallback" option in Sonar behave exactly like the "Line Out" would on the arctis 7/9/or GameDac if I plug the Aux into my motherboard "Line In"?

I can't really test it with my Arctis 7s becuase when I turn the headset off, Sonar does nothing to the audio outputs with device fallback enabled. I think its because the Arctis 7 game still shows up as an input and IDK if the Nova's behave differently to get that to work properly.

more or less works like you described, when the headset is turned off, sonar will switch to another output, and switch back to the headset when turned on. for me it switches to some USB speakers on my desk, but it could just as easily switch to any audio output on your PC

once it's set once in sonar it should remember it. the first time it does the switch it might select a monitor output or something but once you set it to the correct one it should swap back to it every time the headset turns off.

I don't know if I was imagining things but you used to be able to convert the microphone output to mono with sonar right? Since I remember setting it up and specifically using moments so I wouldn't have to install an individual mixer just to convert my mic to mono for when I clip games. I just recently noticed that my microphone is no longer being converted to mono and there are no longer any options I can find to fix it.

See, that is the thing. I would rather not have to cobble together some number of keybinds when the games I play tend to use most anyways. It isn't a matter of memorization. It is a matter of lack of free keys. If Steelseries created tech that would do that (like HC-Helicon's GoXLR does with their software) I know I would buy it. My issue with the GoXLR (which I have and use) is that it is rather bulky. Takes a lot of space on my desk. But I would love to still have the ability to control with real sliders.

I have an Arctic Nova Pro Wireless for my Headset and an Arena 9 for Speakers.

It was my understanding that the Backup Device Switch should automatically register when my Headset is disconnected and switch to my speakers.

Some apps require you to set their locations in the app itself. Discord is one such app. All the Sonar channel locations will appear in Discord, select the one you want and it will then appear in that channel in Sonar.

I'm just here to report that with the new update I'm experiencing the same issue in Sonar with backup device switching that @fleet cave reported.

Engine showed my headset connected/disconnected correctly.
Sonar would switch from my speakers to my headset whenever it was powered on.
Sonar would not switch back to my speakers whenever my headset was powered off.

My steel series virtual devices were the default devices in the Windows sound control panel

I had backup device switching enabled, as well as the "priority for steelseries nova..." option enabled

The only fix was to exit steelseries GG and relaunch it. Then it worked fine.

The issue initially occurred after a cold boot with GG auto launching with Windows, as usual.

I just got my Arctis 7x yesterday because razer scammed me with their garbage nari ultimate and I just have one issue with this steelseries. I am trying to get the chat mix dial to work so if i am in a call or playing a game I can dial it up or down to focus on one or the other audio more, and i am not too familiar with sonar. Any clues?

Hi I have a suggestion for Sonar. I frequently swap my output device from my headset to speakers or back. I'm use to changing it in the Sonar app (see attached screenshot). However I think a nice feature would be the ability to change the output/input devices in the system tray.

@tribal flare Try to run a windows repair - icposted it already in the general secrtion - often after a fresh windows install you got issues with corrupted update files.

Heres the instruction:
If anyone get problems with installing or starting the gg app - do the follwing steps in this order:

1. uninstall the steelseries app
2. restart the computer
3. check the pc for any steelseries files
4. uninstall the drivers with the following manual:
   Open a command prompt in C:\Program Files\SteelSeries\GG\apps\sonar\driver

run the two commands

Sonar.DevInst.exe remove --cat=sonar.apo.cat
Sonar.DevInst.exe remove --cat=SteelSeries.Sonar.vad.cat
5. restart the computer
6. run a command promt as administrator
7. run the command sfc /scannow
restart the computer after the scan is finished
8. install the app again as administrator and start it as administrator

That could fix the most problems i think...

I don't know if I was imagining things but you used to be able to convert the microphone output to mono with sonar right? Since I remember setting it up and specifically using moments so I wouldn't have to install an individual mixer just to convert my mic to mono for when I clip games. I just recently noticed that my microphone is no longer being converted to mono and there are no longer any options I can find to fix it.

Hello, I have a question that may have already appeared somewhere here, but namely... I have a problem with Sonar and conversations on Discord, when I play e.g. Valorant, my microphone is perfectly muting enviroment and background from Sonar, but on Discord no matter what I use a microphone, I have the impression that it imposes its "Krisp" and other ANC suppression on me. Has anyone encountered this and know how to deal with it? I will add that when opening the Volume Mixer through the system, Discord also often throws out the microphone settings, I set it to, for example, Mikro 2 (the same everywhere to make it work under Sonar) and it returns to Mikro 1 without my consent.

Can someone confirm that the audio fallback from Sonar does not work with the Arctis 7? Since the dongle technically counts as the headset and never disconnects despite the headset being turned off, Sonar never falls back to anything because it doesn't know the headset was turned off...

Only fix I had for the sonar issue on version 49 where it boots indefinitely is to revert back to version 48. They don't provide rollback of old versions, so I just blindly installed it through google by looking up SteelSeries GG 48.0.0

This only started happening after installing the latest NVIDIA drivers.

Hi, I'm having some issues with sonar for streaming i've made some test and trys after couple hours of searching but i cannot configure sonar properly . . I want to isolate game,chat,media and mic from AUX but i still want to be able to configure independently my sound and the output to the stream (purpose VOD TWITCH be able to disable my aux soud in the vod) . Is it only possible ? Maybe i just lack knowlege but it would be so much easier to have 3 output like personal,Stream and AUX or Stream 2 . .

since streamer mode squishes the inputs down to 1 input, there's not really a way to pull out the music for VOD stuff. the only way to set it up with the VOD stuff is to not use streamer mode and just setup all the audio sources one by one in OBS.

Alright guys not really a fix but worked for me. You can look up older versions of the software like 48.0. If you uninstall the current version and install that it do work.

Sonar is so frsutrating lately, im about to throw all my steelseries peripherals in the trash.

The audio outputs keep defaulting to wherever my speakers are NOT plugged into. Switching between my DAC and monitor aux and it never fails on every start up Sonar sets all the channels to wherever my speakers are not plugged in to. Resulting in manually changing the outputs on every start up. I have emailed feedback/complaints on three occasions now without a response.
