Sonar is PC only. The EQ settings don't save directly to the headset. It's all controlled through software so GG needs to be running in the background for Sonar to work

The only way to save EQ settings and use them with another device like a PS5 would be to edit the Engine EQ as that saves directly to the headset and doesn't need to have the software running to work

So I upgraded my Arctis Pro with the Game DAC 1 (wired) to the Arctis Nova Pro with the Game DAC 2 (wired) with Sonar. And I am stuck on this.. It sounds terrible. The sonar does slightly change the sound when I am running a game profile, but barely. Its incredibly flat and my Arctis Pro w/ Game DAC sounded way better, 10 fold. I am wondering if I messed something up in the Windows settings or what? Losing my mind over here haha. Any tips or suggestions would be super helpfull... (IF in im the wrong section my bad....)

today my ears where blasted off while i was changing the battery of my headset.
For some unknown reason Sonar decided to use my monitor as an output device when the headset is not connected (base station still was on).
So my monitor blasted at full level...

I don't want automatic changes away from the headset, is there a way to do this or do I have to accept the risk from now on that some random audio device is used when the headset itself is turned off.

I just noticed there is a "Device fallback" option now. I disabled it, hopefully it will not happend again 😄

My chatmix for some reason just can't turn down chat, I don't know why. It's been like this for more than a month, I've tried reinstalling and everything, and at times it will randomly work for a bit and then it will stop again without me having changed anything. As you can see on the photo, the sound is coming through the chat channel so it's not wrong channel, but I can still hear the sound no matter what I do. It works fine with game sound, has anyone tried this? What could the problem be ?

if you're not using a nova headset then why is sonar required?

also it switching is unfortunately intentional, sonar will switch to a new output if the old one is disconnected from windows or if a new device is connected. kinda like the larger windows behavior if you plug in a new audio device it switches over. so the only fix for it would be posting in #1070392859125104660 to get more eyes on it

there's probably a larger issue going on with your headset. old headsets like the arctis 7 with hardware chatmix predate sonar so it should work standalone with sonar completely turned off.

on older headsets, that chatmix predates sonar, so the mixing was done on the hardware level

Hey guys, sorry if I sound dumb, but in the new 40.0 update does the beeping when transitioning between applications still exist? if so, is there anyway to toggle off the switch sound? I remember before the most recent update it wouldnt beep EVER when transitioning, then they did something where all EQ settings got routed to either game or chat channel instead of a specific sonar output (ie. media sonar, aux sonar, gaming sonar) and its been beeping whenver i alt+tab since . its been annoying and feels over engineered.

Hello, I was trying to define the media output to the game controller volume, but that seems to not be possible with the sonar, before, it was only Game and Chat, and that was great because we could control that with the physic button on the headset, but now, having 4 outputs, we could have an option to define if the "Media" output for example would be in the "game" or "chat" with the "chatmix". i believe if you join the beta and use the beta for streamers, you can have one in(because the sonar mic is an input and it itself is the output to games etc) and with the beta, you can have it go out to one of the channels aswell

There’s plenty of tutorials online for Soundpad. I recommend keeping your Db limit to 89Db and moving your mixer for each volume: Game, Aux, Stream, etc. down to 67% to prevent mic spamming

Just wanted to say that I've had nothing but problems since I enabled Sonar. I have the original Arctis Pro Wirelesses and it constantly mixes up the audio source in the Sonar app. If it doesn't do that, then my audio will just flat out not work. Disabling Sonar has fixed this problem for me and my headphones have gone back to working.

My suggestion is to stay far away from this software. I love steel series products, but this audio mixer is more problems than it's worth.

Yes, go to the media tab, there is a settings icon with a gear, click it, then open your browser. Chrome, Edge, etc. then enable the browser to use the Steelseries - Media profile 🙂

unless you turned it off, GG/Sonar should auto-start with your PC and start working once loaded in the background. if it is started but not working in the background then that's a bug and you should talk to #official-support

That's a Discord problem... Have encountered that issue all this year even before I started to use Sonar! Fix for me now is quickly go into Sonar Mic settings switch mic and then back again and it works! Before Sonar basically had to Task manager close discord and hope i worked or restart computer!

Hmm, that can be any number of reasons why? Have you full volume all places you need mic? Could it be your friends that have put the volume down on you if it's discord we talking about? Hello, does anyone know some settings for the microphone of Nova Pro Wireless to make it sound somewhat better? I am certainly disappointed of the out of the box experience of the microphone, consiadering my 4-5 years old Arctis 5 headset microphone sound better, and the fact that they cost 370euro MSRP .. I understand that they are wireless but that's hardly an excuse to not make the mic sound at least as good as a 5 years old, not even top of the line microphone. :/

I think main issues for sonar comes to default mic input. That is the main one I see

also seams it comes down to compatibility issues. Everything might work my end but it might break on another person computer. So like the connection issue / desync issue so on so forth.

Also your auto-run for the app doesn't 100% work it worked for the first day I had it then now it doesn't so if there is something wrong there too might be worth a look into. Could just be my pc but worth a check?

Anna have you thought about making the inputs more customizable, like a drag and drop system? so if people don't want midea / aux they can x it out and then add it back if they want too add it so on?

If Sonar is enabled and your default outputs are the one that is in Sonar it should be Sonar all the time.. Need to disable Sonar if you want your Engine settings to work and ofc. choose that headset...

Hi, i installed sonar to try it and have all the audio tracks but it's acting weird.

1st thing i noticed when testing the mic in audacity is that the mic when using sonar is about 6-8db or so louder than when using it standalone despite the gain being the exact same on the mic, not a huge deal but it still should not happen.

the big issue i discovered though is for some reason when playing iRacing (only game i tried) the game sound is super loud despite no settings being changed yet desktop audio remained normal, also in iRacing you have a "spotter" (motorsport ppl will know what it is) and despite being set to the exact same audio sources the spotter is significantly quieter than the game, this happens for literally no reason because when i switch all my audio settings over to the headphones alone they are back to normal.

What is sonar doing to mess up the audio levels of different applications and the mic despite no audio levels being changed at all??

what you need to do

not big help but i trying

install previous version, set up your eq for general use and then update. this way you keep your eq settings HOWEVER once you update you cant access them anymore. Thats unfortunatly the best solution currently since it updates itself when restarting your pc

Been reading a couple times now on various sites that apparently windows breaks sonar, did you try the following?

so ive had a problem with sonar since like a week ago that it started to take upwards of 20 minutes to start after i boot up my pc and untill it does i dont have any sound at all.

Quick question from my side:

Does EQ need to be set to SONAR on the DAC for SS arctic nova pro x wireless in order for the transmitter (DAC) to send this to the headset?

^ Or is it enough to have it selected in the SS app?

When your target device in the app is set to the headset, the DAC will automatically pick it up. At the top right of the OLED screen between where it says "USB" and your battery charging indicator there should be two little circles around one another and that's how you can tell if Sonar is working

Yep those two like half-circle things next to "USB" is the Sonar symbol

Because yesterday the audio completely changed and I believe it is because in the DAC it was set to flat or something and when I changed the battery => Put the headset on again it all of a sudden sounded completely differently. I believe this has to do with the "fallback" option being enabled in SS app?

DAC was then all of a sudden showing SONAR instead of flat

Hi, I have been having a recent issue where I sound like an alien when I use sonar on my mic. When I boot up my pc and start using my mic, my voice is severely distorted and pitch shifted up so I sound like a chipmunk abomination. Unplugging and replugging my mic fixes this, and the mic is fine without sonar on. This is really weird please help I use my mic for work and they think I'm insane

Check your Sonar mic settings set it on default if it isn't already? And in there you can tweak and record yourself and listen back for optimization.

Depends what you mean by that. Locked in my settings for eq and clearcast like a year ago and barely ever touch them now, and like I say if I unplug my mic and wait a second then plug it back in the issue resolves. Not gamebreaking but annoying if I forget

hi, I'd been using sonar for a while until i decided to record some clips using geforce experience with my friends and noticed that my mic audio was really delayed. I don't think this is a sonar issue but to test try using the Discord feature or Sonar testing and see if it is delayed there. That should help understand if it is sonar or something else. It may also be your mic so make sure it is plugged in fully and maybe unplug and replug in. Also incase you didn't know, GG has a moment clipping software!
