Hello, I just purchased the wired Nova pro. Im using it on my pc with the sonar software. I however cannot seem to get the mic to work with anything. Ive been to sound settings and enabled it as default. I allowed mic in the privacy settings. Nothing I seem to do is working. Please help!

Do you have another computer you can plug it into? does sonar say that the microphone works? does this (sceenshot) connector work when plugged into something other than the dac (I actually don't know if it does myself though so don't depend on this one)? like maybe try plugging it directly into your phone and see if the microphone works to make sure it isn't defective

Okay I got it to work, for some reason I think drivers from my arctis 9x was messing the Novas up. I went through and deleted every audio driver I had then set up the Novas. Now I have mic input! thank you

Having issues with a new Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, I had the same problem on an Arctis Pro Wireless before this too. When Discord (or another similar chat app) is open either the mic doesn't work or the auido (game/chat) don't work. Close the app (Discord) and all of them work (most of the time), open it, one or the other breaks again. I've already removed all the audio devices including the hidden ones and fresh reinstalled everything and I'm still getting the same issue. Any thoughts?

I have the 7+ headset with sonar and it works great while gaming. Chat/Game/Mic is working and when I use Streamlabs it registers no problem. When I stream on twitch I have no sound unless I set game/steelseries sonar virtual audio device as default. Then no chat in my headset. I’m so lost can anyone help?

Windows sonic isn't compatible with sonar. In fact a lot of stuff is disabled when using sonar (when it comes to those kinds of windows settings)

as in factory reset? you can't, you just turn it off/unplug it depending on if it's wired or wireless and if that doesn't help then restart your computer

So my Artic 3 headphones have been working fine for an entire year almost, but I uh, accidentally ripped out the audio port thing out of my computer... and the port ended up bent. Lol. I managed to bend it back to its original position (may or may not have been a bad idea) and I still can only hear out of one side of the headphones. The right side just stopped working.

Hello so i have been having some issues that i dont understand
Sometimes my Arctic 9 wireless headphones make a static sound and then turn off but aparently only happens when im not connected via USB cable to my pc i updated the firmware of the headphones thinking it would solve but it didn't and i keep having the same issue can someone help me fix this ? cause if i need to be always connected via usb cable there is no meaning in having wireless headphones...

^Whenever i try to only connect with bluetooth to my phone , i will continiously hear a static noise in the background. When actual sound is playing, you dont notice it too much. However, whenever there is no sound for a brief moment, you can hear the static very clearly.
Not only that, but it seems that the bluetooth ''turns off'' when it does not detect sound for a short period of time, which creates pops when a connection is ''turned off'' and ''turned on''.

Is there some way that i fix this? (Arctis 9)

Hey everyone. Hoping someone can help me with fixing for finding a understanding on why this problem that keeps happening.

So let me start with the product in question.

SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC Wired Gaming Headset - Certified Hi-Res Audio - Dedicated DAC and Amp - for PS5/PS4

So now for the issue at hand.

While using my headset on pc at random times or while playing a game. The audio bugs out and i loose the control of the gamedac to control between game and chat sounds. So far the only temp fix I have found is unplugging the gamedac and plugging it back in. So when it is working properly under sound it will say Speaker (GameDAC Game) then when the bug happens it switches on it's own to Headset Earphone (GameDAC Chat)

When it is set to Speaker (GameDAC Game) I can use the mixer on the gamedac to lower game sounds or music while in say a discord vc. But when it changes it self over I loose that ability and the Mix dial turns into a simple volume control.

So what I am hoping for is to find a fix that I haven't been able to find so far. If there is no fix then I hope to find some understanding of what is causing the issue.

Anyone who reply's to this if you have any questions I will do my best to answer any questions.

Things I have tried.

• Reinstalling drivers
• Reinstalling SteelSeries software
• Keeping windows updated
• Keeping drivers updated
• Uninstalling any conflicting audio software and drivers
• Used on differen't computers
• Firewire update of the GameDAC

If you're talking about inside the ear cup then it's the noise cancelling mics that stick out slightly from the driver

No the headset itself has Active Noise Cancelling for blocking background noise while you're listening

The mic has its own software based noise cancelling and it's a separate thing

Don't know for sure but I'd imagine SteelSeries will release some Nova earcups on their website. You can also keep an eye on third party cushion brands because they'll probably have a lot more variety in size, style, color, etc.

Here goes: I have Arctis Nova Pro Wireless. I feel there is ambiguity when my 7.1 is on. When I deal with music I absolutely need stereo, but with movies and some games 7.1 is cool. Where can I check if it's on or not, and make the choice? I have GG software installed.

And secondary, and this might be trickier, but when I insert my 3.5mm plug into the headset I loose my wireless connection. This won't do for my use so how to bypass this... Talking about dev modes or other hardcore overrides?

From what I have read. The 3.5 should be for audio share. Meaning the other side hears what you hear

Same on my Arctis 7

For the Nova you should be running everything through the DAC

So mixers or whatever should go through the analog in the back of the DAC. A lot of reviews say there is a bit of lag when doing it this way for the side tone but that should be fixed in future updates if not already

On further inspection this will work with or without sonar so it doesn't actually matter- oops lol.
control panel -> hardware and sound -> sound
right click on your main sound device (if you have two, one chat and one gaming, your gonna need to do this with both), click on "properties", then click on "levels".
From there you can balance things out by clicking "balance" and it'll look like, most likely, one of the two screenshots I included. I hope it's the simpler looking one but if it's the more complicated one I can explain it further a little to help understand the abbreviations

Hi, I am using a SteelSeries Sonar and the sound disappears periodically for a moment in certain games.
This problem is currently confirmed in Resident Evil 7, which has recently been updated with an upgrade patch.
I thought maybe there was a problem with the 3D audio in the in-game settings, but turning this off did not help.
Other games, such as Elden Ring and Valorant, do not have this symptom.
Am I the only one experiencing these symptoms?

Try holding the middle cpi button for around 5 seconds till the mouse lights turn white, which will recalibrate it and the liftoff detection system

It’s most likely due to sonar using two different audio outputs. If you wanna use sonar I’d suggest using moments instead but there are alternatives like going to control panel -> hardware and sound -> sound. Make the sonar gaming audio device, the default device and default communication device. This will most likely work but will break mixing

Hmmmmm, when I'm done streaming south park for my friends I can check it out closer but as far as I know from personal experience and stuff it isn't possible to assign inputs and outputs to more than one device, if it wasn't meant for that. If you follow the control panel section of my above text you can merge game and chat but it'll reset every time your computer resets and I cannot guarantee it to work

As far as I’ve seen with people saying things in here, I think it’s safe to say this is a steelseries issue, as I’ve heard it a decent amount the past few days and I haven’t came up with a way to fix it (I haven’t found a way, nor have I thought of a way myself)

It’ll most likely be fixed, hopefully, within the next few days, maybe a week or two but I hope not any longer than that

Usually when there's been multiple reports of the same issue by a bunch of different people over the span of a few days it generally means there was a bug with the last GG update that's the culprit in which case it should get resolved in the next update

In that case I'd try factory resetting the headset and also uninstalling GG and reinstalling with the latest install .exe from the website. You can also try different USB ports on your PC to see if that makes a difference although if the headset is being detected by windows already then that likely isn't the culprit, but never hurts to check

@atomic cosmos and @glacial zephyr as well. the hardware drivers, no matter what, are rated for 40khz audio on the nova pro's. Sampling and driver frequency responses are completely different things. When playing audio sampled at 20khz, no matter what, the nova's audio drivers are going to output 40khz capable audio. just because it's capable, doesn't mean it's going that high and that crisp, but it's still better than nothing. Most music and most good audio now are sampled in at LEAST 48khz. With the average headphones having a 20khz frequency response and sample rate, a lot of that clarity is lost (which is where the nova's superiority comes in). Then there's the wired's HiRes 96khz sampling rate that's a whole bigger story.

Moral of this all? 40khz driver response and 96khz sampling rate is extremely excessive, yes, and most of the time unnoticeable. But without it you lose pretty much half or more of the music's clarity due to the quality they are sampled in (ignoring bits and stuff)

i’m having some audio issues, my steelseries arctis pro wireless is no longer playing audio from my computer, when i hook it up to my phone via bluetooth so i know it’s not my headset.

i’ve already tried doing a ddu and getting a clean install on my audio drivers and it didn’t help. i set it as the default on everything in my sound settings and that also didn’t work.

weirdest thing is, it was working when i started my computer today, i hung it on my mic stand to go get food and then when i came back it was no longer playing any audio from the stream i was watching.

i was able to hook up an old pair of astro a40s i had laying around and got them to work for now.

any ideas?

Sorry I'm playin a game. It should just work with your normal every day audio driver. It doesn't have its own becasue aux devices don't create their own drivers like other steelseries products that directly plug into your computer

I got my SteelSeries Arcits Nova Pro Wireless and I use sonar for channelmixing, so i mean for Gaming and voicechatting in different outputs.

The question is, does somebody else use sonar only for Mixing? because I use the Dolby access app from the microsoft store for Surround sound.
The issue is, i have in my Windows audio settings my original headset output to get spatial sound format [Dolby Atmos for Headphones], because if i do it on the Gaming ouput of sonar i get an error.

its no problem for this different outputs, but every time when i restart my pc or something else, the sound ouput got a reset, it means, Gaming output and chatting output of sonar is every time standard output on windows, so i have to change it everyday 😦

Is it a bug, because i dont know is it only by me, or others too

Right now unfortunately Sonar resets default audio devices on restart. That's just the way it works and currently there's no way around it. Maybe they'll change that in a future update for it but for now you're kind of just stuck selecting which audio device you want every time you restart the PC

In steelseries gg, go to settings -> general and enable the setting that talks about sonar. (It should be on the top, you may need to enable the beta thing and update in about in order to get it) Then go to the sonar tab in gg and assign the audio devices accordingly including the microphone you want to use. Then from there you have free reign to customize things all you want in the sonar tabs like gaming, chatting, microphone stuff. Eq’s for every tab too.

And ofc once enabled you can also go into gaming and enable sonar’s own spatial audio setting and adjust the slider to your liking

Hey guys, just been having a few interesting interactions with sonar, one of the main issues is that when I'm playing Forza Horizon 5, for some reason if I have it as my audio set to use sonar on discord, the calls are always really buggy, and glitchy. I have also encountered a weird problem with R6 Siege, that I am experiencing occasional massive lag occurrences when I have sonar open, and yes my PC can handle siege.

My Arctis nova pro wireless isn't being recognized as an audio device on my computers.
GG software says Receiver MCU version and Bluetooth versions are 0.0.0, but it's not prompting for an update. And I can't even pair the DAC with the headset to fix it because the DAC version is updated. Reinstalling software isn't helping.
When I plug the headset in directly, it is recognized as "Arctis nova pro wireless" but it is listed as a usb input in devices rather than an audio device.

Bluetooth is still working on my phone though so IDK. But Bluetooth isn't working on my computer either

Try deleting the setup file and getting a new one from the website. Also try going into your C: drive -> Program Files and delete that whole SteelSeries folder and use that new installer and see if it works.

It's supposed to do that. every time you restart your computer it's supposed to auto set all your inputs back to sonar inputs

You can't do it directly. you'd have to export it in some way and send it through a platform that you can access on your phone and download it (which, not to mention, you could just upload it to discord and transfer it through there and use a random server as a "backup" server where you'll store all this stuff on)

Basically go into control panel -> hardware and sound -> sound. From here your gonna want to right click on the Playback device you want to use as audio, and make it the default device and default communication device. If you have separated game and chat sound devices your gonna want game to be default device and chat default communication device. Then go into recording and make your default microphone default game and comm device. From here you can also right click on any playback and/or recording device you want to disable and click on the box "disable" and it won't re-enable itself till you do it manually

this is how to make what you want default audio devices and the proper way to do it by the way. and at the end, just in case, I mentioned how to disable something as well

oh and why did I type all that? because that's what discord uses when you select "default device"

Ah then odds are that’s your issue. Moments sadly doesn’t clip Roblox by default so you have to manually do it (aka what I did in that video). To note as well though, after every Roblox update you have to set it up again which isn’t that bad, but does get annoying after so long

Well when clipping try and keep your window in one spot on the screen, don’t change window sizes, and stick to either windowed or full screen for the whole clip you want as changing any of these factors messes with moments. 👀the green space shouldn’t be there, it isn’t for me when I clip Roblox

Can someone help me with a minor question? I recently purchased two open box nova pro wireless headsets. One was the orange packaging for PC/PS5. The other was the green packaging Xbox model. Now according to SS, The only differences between the two is the Xbox model includes an Xbox port, but the other port should have no bearing what so ever on your device. But when using it on PS5, the mic sound quiet at 5 compared to the orange PC/PS5 model. How can this be? I just had an family member return the Orange box model as the screen was in poor condition. I'm shocked Amazon sold it this way lol.

I'd like to keep using the Xbox model but I can't be having the mic at 10, because it includes all the background noise like an AC Unit etc....

From my knowledge of how things are going, ignoring the possibility of buggy headsets arriving, the nova pro’s because of how good they are and the fact that they fix the hinge issue where eventually, no matter how careful you are, the hinge breaks after at most 2 to 3 years. I’ve never had one last me more than 1 and a half years without the hinge breaking so I’m super excited for my nova pro’s to arrive in the mail either today or tomorrow

Did you actually install the firmware update and it still wont go away? You have to connect it to the computer with a USB (variant on model) in order to update the firmware. It can't update wirelessly.

Default ones are fake leather and my ears are touching both ANC nubs, resulting in hurting ears. Happens within 30 minutes

Hey guys I was lucky enough to get the Arctis Nova Pro Headset in birthday present 2 weeks ago.
My roommate has the exact same headset, but my friends told me that my microphone on discord is worse than my roommates'. We checked discord mic settings, and they are the same.
Do any of you have any idea what could be the issue?

Odd question but have you tried restarting it and maybe even the computer too? Like maybe even take the battery out of the headset for at least 15 to 20 seconds then put it back in and see if it just works again. Another thing you could do is try re-pairing it

I fixed the problem re installing the gg app. it worked first, then its not working again.

Hi, when i try to set up sonar it gets stuck in a loop at various steps but for the most part it will not even display my devices for audio output/input.

I opened the cristal voice feature by disabiling intel usb driver. Then turned it on again. After restart it is not working again hahahah

the sonar tab loads but once i select get started (or whatever the generic prompt was) it just gets stuck loading

I’d just reinstall SteelSeries GG at that point 👀some users go through the same issue and the only solution I know of, if it doesn’t get fixed by toggling sonar off and on is reinstalling and hoping it fixes itself

the main reason im trying to set it up is that, in games like valorant I cant hear footsteps too well

but my friends on discord (if im screen sharing) can hear them super clearly which is a little weird

The Xbox version comes with a special hardware thing inside of it apparently every Xbox usb audio device requires for “security”. The normal version won’t work with Xbox because it lacks this chip, the only drawback is that dedicated Xbox port apparently cannot be used with anything but an Xbox. So you lose a whole port out of the total 2 you get access to.

This only matters if you see yourself connecting your Nova to two devices at once. If you're just using on a PC then either versions will be the same

I purchased the xbox version because I only game on PC and have pretty massive KVM switch for switching devices.

Will do. Last question: Is the new Arctis Nova Pro Wireless strengthened at the joints or is it the same build quality? This is my second pair of Arctis Wireless Pro and its broken in the same spot. Really love the headset which is why I bought a second pair.

With the Xbox version you can still use the second USB C port on the back of the base station to connect to a PC, PlayStation, or whatever other device uses USB audio. You just can't use the first USB port to connect to any other device besides an Xbox

You too! If worst comes to worst and the reseller doesn't help you out you can try SteelSeries support, but they usually redirect you to the third party if you didn't purchase from the sight. Still never hurts to check though

That's just the way Xbox works unfortunately. But like another user said it really only matters if you intend to use the headset with something other than an Xbox and a PC

Anyone know why my steelseries headset doesn't split my audio? The wheel on the left side puts all my audio on the game side. It used to split my audio from my games and discord, but recently just stopped doing it. I didn't mess with it so I'm not sure why it isn't working anymore

Been playing planetside 2 a lot more recently and that game gets loud so it's nice to just raise my chat volume and lower the game at the same time instead of having to go into the settings or tabbing out. I mean, it's a convenient feature that I love about the headset, but it just doesn't work all the time, ya know>

same. I tried setting up the sonar thing on the engine to see if that would be recognized better cause it opens those up as options on discord, but that didn't work either. If I select chat instead of game for discord audio, I can only hear discord and no audio from anything else.
