It's never powered on after the the update anyway so it's currently off with the battery out and I've unplugged the dac

Hey there, I can see that in "Moments" the GG app can auto-detect games for clip capture. Is that possible with sonar as well? So that when I open CSGO for example that the csgo EQ settings automatically work and if I open Halo Infinite the same thing happens?

In my Apex moments clips that automatically record, the characters voicelines are echoing. Like there's two exact voicelines happening within milliseconds of each other. But it's only in the clips

Your welcome. Another tip is looking in
Control panel -> hardware and sound -> sound

In there make sure your sonar game is set as the default device and sonar chat is set as the default communication device.

In the sonar panel itself make sure your output for the chat and game are set to most likely the same device, depending on the device you have. It’ll depend lol

What happens when you hover your mouse over the front page nova pro wireless tab and click on the tiny settings gear icon that shows up in the top right of the little square box then click about. Does it show a proper version number?

I don’t have a nova pro wireless myself to fact check and compare. If @hexed night is nice enough to confirm these version numbers in his own time without panic that would be nice but it looks like the receiver version may be goofed which would explain some things maybe? But I can’t say anything for sure honestly I have no clue what to say other than try and hold the power button, maybe even while plugged into the computer, to see if something special happens

At least all from my own analysis. I’ve never even seen a version number of below 0.0.1 for any game or device-

I'm catching up on this convo, but Engine will report the version numbers as 0.0.0.0 when it can't connect to the device. So since the "receiver" is the actual headset, it won't get those version numbers until the headset is wirelessly connected

So your saying since the receiver is technically off it won’t actually read those version numbers? (In their specific instance)

Hmmm- considering their headset is still refusing to turn on no matter what, even though it’s reporting 100% battery life in the engine when directly connected, I think it’s still best for them to make ticket with steelseries but you are I guess right I mean it’s good at least the firmware isn’t corrupted by the seems of it maybe, but we’re still having issues

Man well it’s a relief the Bluetooth and receiver aren’t actually corrupted I just hope this can be solved without a replacement unit

From the looks of what the user above said. Your receiver isn’t corrupted, but you’ll still likely need to make a ticket with steelseries as I cannot think of any other solution

Hey guys, I just got a pair of acrtis 9s and I've been having an issue with the sidetone, I can't seem to turn it off, I tried searching online and I see some that were able to resolve it using the steelseries app by making a new config but that doesn't work for me, trying to fiddle around with the windows setting to find a sidetone option does not work either. Does anyone have an idea? Kinda lost here :/

Ah, my bad for the wording. There is a sidetone in the engine screen, just not in the windows settings when I tried looking for them. Although even after creating a new profile and having the sidetone slid into off I can still hear it's active

If you are fine with it, you can open one of the earcups and put a pin in this hole and (afaik) hold it down for a sec and it should factory reset the whole headset. I know it’s a small problem so it’s up to you but it should fix it idk why sidetone is still on that’s pretty odd

Also that’s with an actis 9x, not just a 9 so if it’s not there for you on either earcup then that’s ok

Hmm. This is really weird, so I tried reinstalling the drivers, and the engine. The funny thing is that it's not even picking up the setting from the engine or windows settings. I even tried moving the mic volume down to 0 and I could still hear the sidetone as if there's a master control inside the headset that overrides the software setting

There it is! So after reconfiguring everything it needed to have both the receiver and the usb-c connected to the pc for it to save its settings from the software

Yeah! Seems like that did the trick, I feel like it wouldn't save the settings if it's only connected via receiver wireless but it would save the settings after connecting the USB-C with my computer

At least that's what seems to have fixed the issue for me, a little bit inconvenient not being able to change it remotely but it's not really something I do regularly so it's fine, I'm quite happy with my upgrade from the Arctis 5s

you just bricked your transmitter since you selected the wrong device from the recovery dropdown list so the recovery tool installed the APW firmware instead of the A7 firmware

hey, when i started my pc today i could not hear my friends in discord and a figured that it could be steelseries gg that did something with my sound. So I opend it up, after i haved open it up i could hear my friends and the game audio but when we got in a game in valorant their voices started to sound like robots and i hade 30 fps and was lagging. So i need to have steelseries gg running on my pc to hear my friends in discord but i will lag. I have now deleted steelseries gg and now i cant hear anything. Can someone please help me?

I Downloaded Fall Guys a Game to play with my friends, and then plugged my controller in as it was much easier to play, I then needed to switch teh audio device from the Controller back to my headset and it was working fine for 10 minutes, then after it Just literally stopped working, I Tried factory resetting it nothing worked then I tried turning it back on holding it down nothing worked Unplugging everything etc.

Has anyone else had consistent problems with the Arctis 3's mic spontaneously failing? I'm on my second pair now and the mic just stopped picking up anything other than tapping directly on it, and this happened with my last pair too. Just picked up the Nova Pro Wireless for the Xbox and I'm not sure if it's an issue with my set or if it's like this by design. I've noticed on both my Xbox and PS5, the console audio seems to be a lot lower than my Bluetooth audio. I'll have music playing at 50% or so on my phone and it will be LOUD, closer to 70% and it starts to be unbearable. However, the console audio seems way lower, it seems like I need to almost turn it all the way to 100% to match the volume of the Bluetooth audio.

I THINK I SOLVED IT

FOR EVERYONE WITH MY ISSUE OF THE HEADSET NOT BEING RECOGNIZED

TLDR: Turn off your headset before you turn off your comp. Turn on your headset after you start your comp.

Tried it all, tickets, cleaning appdata and reg edit for the cleanest install ever, even replacing the damn headset. In the end.. what i mentioned above worked. I’ve done this several times and it seems to work if engine won’t recognize your headset. I still don’t like how I had to find the answer but I’m happy I found it. I hope this works for all of you.

I would check if your computer has any USB power settings. Your computer might be sending USB power to the headset when it's off, which might confuse the base station into thinking it should be connected when it shouldn't be

The whole pairing process is probably just a guide for you, you don’t have to do the whole usb thing. If that’s all it brings up it’s probably just helping you pair it presuming your using usb because it won’t pair

I think I found out how to solve the problem of light jam. Every time I turn on my computer, my ARCTIS 5 will show that it is not connected. In this state, enabling Audio Visualizer will not cause light jam. I wish GG could control the applications used by each device independently. I just want to enable Audio Visualizer for my keyboard.

Hi all. I have the arctis nova wireless headset, but I still use voicemeeter. Is there anyway to stop the headphones from changing the PC default output device when it connects? Voicemeeter needs to remain the default device to work as it handles all of my sound routing.

Sonar can only be used with PC. It does not upload a configuration to your headphones. In other words it is a software filter for sound only on your PC.

The standard GG Engine adjustments are the only way to change the sound and upload them to your headset. (see screenshot)

Yep, that was the issue. Sonar automatically changes the default device. There should be a setting to turn this off.

Hey folks 👋 quick question regarding Sonar. Once it is enabled, I see that the "Game" audio device has a max bit-rate of 48Khz. Does that mean you cannot use Hi-Res sound once Sonar is active? I know that the bit-rate might be reduced because of the amount of channels... But I see myself in the situation of disabling Sonar every time I want to hear music on Tidal.

Note.: The Gamedac accuses 96Khz/24bit, even tho on Windows it clearly shows 48Khz

Hello everyone! Question about the SS Engine (apex 7 keyboard)

I assigned the "NUMBER LOCK" key to the "Pause" key. And instead of the "NUMBER LOCK" key, now the "=" key. (Convenient when working with numbers)
The bug is that now when you press the "pause" button (Performs the "NUM Lock" function), the backlight lights up not on the "pause" key itself, but on the old "Num Lock" place (which is now the "=" key). How to fix?

There is also no function to launch applications on the "Meta layer"

i re enabled sonar. then had to restart my headset with the mixer on the app open to get it to see my microphone. once is recognized everything the chat mixer dial began working as intended again. but i had spent several hours going through settings on both windows. discord. and the steel series app.

I’m using the artics 9x and I think this is because of my big head but whenever I put it on I think it puts too much stress on the right side of the headset where the volume dial is and it keeps cracking. I want Discord and skype, etc on the same output, but separate from game audio, and I want spotify and chrome on a separate output so that I can stream with music but separate the tracks in OBS so that music isn't saved in the VOD, while also being able to easily control game and comms audio on the fly

I guess the question would be, is there currently, or is there going to be a way to add additional output sources to sonar so that music can be separated and browser audio for things like media requests playing

So that we can single those out without having them on the same source as game audio, or comms

Right now they play through the game audio source by default, but if i move them to comms, then i have to eliminate comms from the VOD to get rid of the music

Setting program output sources is done through Windows settings. Right click the speaker icon on the taskbar, click "open sound settings", scroll down to advanced sound options, click "app volume and device preferences", and there you can set which program outputs to which audio source

I'm familiar with this from using voicemeeter, the issue is that Sonar doesn't set up by default with the 3 outputs, or I should say 4, because it does have the mic channel for adjusting the way the mic in sounds on stream and in comms. So with the lack of a music standalone output source to assign chrome and spotify to, you're left to choose game audio out, or incoming comms out

and you're killing off 1 of those 2 if you assign it to the track in OBS that isn't saved to the VOD post-stream

is there a way to add that third virtual output manually or is it planned in future updates to add it as a default?

I guess a quick work around without the third virtual source would be to keep desktop audio as the default source in OBS for game audio, and have game audio fed directly to your physical output without passing through sonar at all, and use the game audio virtual output in sonar for music/browser audio

and keep your physical output as the default output in windows itself, since the digital outs are fed to that anyway. you'll hear the virtual outputs still but be able to separate out game audio from music/browser and have sonar do its thing with your mic input and chat output

wait no it doesn't work. using the physical output as the active primary output completely defeats having separate channels other than the EQing done by sonar for how chat audio sounds. with it as the primary then singling out the audio track in OBS does nothing because the music is coming through on the primary track too

could be an issue with the receiver losing power. i went through a few wireless headsets before realizing that my USB port on my old PC case was the culprit

power to it wasn't consistent so every time it would just lose power to the port the receiver would lose power and i'd hear "headset not connected" in my ears

and then it would reconnect when i had power in the port again

not an arctis headset, i have a rig 800 lx, but the concept should be similar among most wireless headsets. it might not be an issue with the headset itself it could be the receiver or the port it's plugged into

i'm blaming my port but the actual issue was the connection from the motherboard to the front IO, but most people probably won't experience that exact issue vs say just a dirty port or corroded pins

Sonar has a parametric EQ system, which is a bit more in depth than the 5/10 band one in your headset engine

Hi, I just downloaded the steel series GG app and it works great, but it always defaults to the steel series sonar as the playback device. I usually just choose the one I prefer which is my headphones but every time I restart my pc it always go to the steel sonar as the default. Is there a way for this to not happen? I want to keep the mic because it sounds great but I don't really like the headphones cause it sounds weird and I prefer my normal one.

not sure if anyone answered you, but disconnect and reconnect it just ONE MORE TIME after the computer is started. from now on..before you turn off your computer, turn off your headset, after you turn your computer BACK ON, power on the headset. This is what solved the issue for me. My dream is eventually I will not need to do this everytime I powerdown and the headset will just turn on and off as the computer does.

you can reach out to support, but the easiest way to check is to see if it's sent from an "@steelseries.com" e-mail. it's nearly impossible to fake e-mails from a properly setup domain so if it's from their normal website address it's almost certainly legit.

howdy all, i'm looking for some help with an artis 7+ heaset on PC. I just replaced my arctis 7.
got the 7+ all setup, to include trying out the sonar software capabilities. I noticed however that my chat wheel mixer does not make any affects. I then noticed that my computer only shows the 7+ as a single audio device, where the 7 had a chat audio channel, and a game audio channel.

is there something i need to do special with the 7+ to get the chat wheel to work correctly on PC?
