Hey folks. Before I go investigate a bit myself, I'd like to ask any1's opinion on performance cost on recording with "Moments" vs Nvidia Overlay?
Also specificly Shadowplay vs the "Moments/Sonar" equivelant (I'm talking about the feature that records last 10min for example, and then lets you save it with a hotkey)
I'd like to be more clear in definitions but I hope it's good enough to make a bit of sense. Cheers:)

I would say use Moments because Shadowplay has a variable framerate on clips over a certain time which causes the video and audio to be out of sync. Its a problem I haven't noticed with Moments

Have u got any experience with "Medal"? I am going to try that soon. It is a newer version of the old "Plays.tv" app if u know that one. I hope that it's even more lightweight that Moments, since the performance decrease is still too noticable for my 1080 in Apex for example

Not with Moments. You need to use Nvidia Shadowplay's or Radeon ReLive's desktop recording feature, or use OBS to record desktop or videos longer than 5 minutes

in the GG software click on your name in the upper right. It will open a webpage and on the left side there is a heading for 'claimed codes' or something like that. The code will be saved there if you claimed it earlier

Are you referring to games that support auto-clip with Moments or games that support having game info displayed with RGB on a keyboard? For auto-clip, you can go into GG settings and scroll down to the Auto Clip options in the Moments section and that gives you the list of currently supported auto-clip titles. If you mean actual gamesense plugins for peripherals, you can go to the apps section of Engine and see all the titles that have supported gamesense app plugins

It'll have a pop-up watermark if you use the built in Share function to post a clip to social media. You can manually export clips in original quality or different quality presets for sharing on social media without the watermark pop-up

i literally only use the Moments and auto-clip feature that came with my headphones. I use a laptop so i dont have the space/money for a capture card or anything of the sort

Make sure you have your audio sources configured properly. Launch SteelSeries GG and go to Settings > Moments > Capture and Sound. You'll see dropdowns on the right for audio device, chat device, and microphone input. If it's set to defaults that may not be what you're using for game.

I usually have on headphones when I'm gaming through my GoXLR, but if I'm using the external speakers I have to change that input so Moments knows where to record audio.

I just finished working out a complicated setup using shadowplay, sonar and voicemeter so I can balance my audio once I have clipped and a week later you have added it natively, so I can get rid of vb and shadowplay altogether. Most of those instances of GG don't actually do anything. The dev team is looking into the bug with multiple instances all launching at once on startup so it should be fixed soon. They shouldn't be drawing anymore system resources than normal though so it shouldn't affect your PC performance

Question: I did check the FAQ and didn't see anything. I also googled around a bit for a gamesense API, and found the SDK but that seems to be for game developers themselves.

I was wondering if there's any way (I realize it's likely not possible, but I figured I'd ask) to add other triggers for moments that are not already in for a game. For example, Rocket League supports "Epic Save" auto clips, but not a regular save, which is a little surprising to me especially because the far more frequent "shot on goal" event is also supported.

I was wondering if there's any way with a little programming know how (I am a software engineer) I could add support for other moments by tapping in to some sort of API even if I am not the one who built the game.

Hello everyone, any idea how I do the following when capturing with moments:

1. Disable capturing of audio for everything except for the game being captured. I'm not sure why it says it's capturing my game when it's also capturing all the background audio on my PC... why is this? Even Gamebar can be set to only capture game audio and nothing else. If I'm missing this setting somewhere, I apologize - please let me know where to find it. I don't mean mic audio, I know this can be disabled - I mean all background apps and windows sounds etc. I don't need Discord notifications or my music being captured alongside my game.

2. Any reason that it also picks up the nvidia overlay every time I open it/take a screenshot when I'm recording the game itself, not nvidia GFE? Again, other capturing services only capture the game...

In respect to both, desktop capture is turned off, elevated capture is on. I'd just like to be able to record clips and have the game audio without being slammed for copyright because I have music playing in the background lol.

Ya'll, I'm trying to use Win Task Scheduler to boot up GG with elevated capture on startup, without activating the UAC prompt every time, but there are so many processes that has to start up with it, and I've tried to just start GG.exe and the svcLauncher.exe with highest privileges, and it just bugged, wouldn't start up. I think its tied to the new multitrack audio feature that was released Feb. 1 because when you trim a clip, the video will stop but the audio will continue to play till the end of the original clip. Its strange because you can trim the beginning of a clip and it will work just fine, but audio will play till the end of the original clip despite the trimming.

plus with the media device in Sonar, you can set your music to output to the Media VAD, and it won't be recorded in Moments

Make sure Moments are allowed in settings, if yes try saving a clip yourself ( ALT + S is the default keybind) and see if that works

The capture works and the game is recognized but the automatic capture does not work while everything is activated I hoped that with the update it would solve my problem ^^'

go into Steelseries GG > Settings > Auto-clip (under moment section), there find the game and make sure its enabled for what you want it to capture

Possible fix for you guys. If you've updated to the most recent version of Windows, it's done some crazy things to lots of applications. Try uninstall GG (including the hidden files in %appdata%\roaming and reinstall. I had an issue where Moments wouldn't capture anything windowed, someone in #1047622297382567936 told me to try this and it worked

So, theres an issue with auto-clip for Destiny 2. 😐 So far it's grabbed a slayer clip while i'm talking to an NPC lol. It also grabbed it while i was on my browser while destiny 2 was running.

Specifically, it highlighted it with the ⭐ at the exact moment i was swapping out a weapon.

Not sure if that's useful or not.

I've had to disable it as it keeps activating Slayer in the character screen.

Hey, after the last update my games are being recorded forcefully in 16:9 ratio. I use a Samsung Odyssey G9 which has an aspect ratio of 32:9 and all this time (even since the beta of moments) until this update it was clipping it fine at the native 32:9 resolution. But after this update, it's now adding black bars to the top and bottom for no reason making it 16:9. I hope that this is fixed in the future as I love moments and want to keep using it, but this newest update has really made it bad for ultrawide clipping.
