If I ever build my own PC I'm 100% getting a Lavender colored case
i mean, its a huge amount of blue light i end up taking in. lol its the reason im still awake now at almost 4am.
they are great! i had a cheap monster lighting one and even tho it didn’t cooperate sometimes it was still good to have
actually more feasible than you think. theres a couple purple cases and a Livemixer board. ill send the link now
a lavender board? i’ll be shocked since you can barely find white boards as it is
There was a Taro tea case that Miss Hyde shared on Twitter that I LOVED
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/6Ynypg/asrock-z790-livemixer-atx-lga1700-motherboard-z790-livemixer
closest youll get without painting your board
and yes
you can paint a board
that looks so sick
yeah its awesome. shame its intel, if youre gaming and want a livemixer board its... something
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/ckhFf7/asrock-b650-livemixer-atx-am5-motherboard-b650-livemixer
looks awesome. no where near as nice as the z790 though
if you want a full lavender set up you would definitely need to deshroud and paint your gpu
Oh nah I'd just want the case to be colored. I'm not that hardcore hahaha
Although I know a person who overpaid a ton for a white GPU because they were hellbent on a full white setup lol
taking apart a gpu isnt too hard its just that every single screw is so tiny
camera doesnt do the colour justice though, looks better coloured in person
its totally model dependent. its not too hard no but sometimes its hell to do.
overpaying on a gpu 🤢
just get the cheapest black or cheapest white
theres a couple gpus where the cheapest white is stupid
and its significantly cheaper to paint
thankfully for the new amd gpus its alright. steel legend takes the market for best looking white RX imo.
however there are sapphire pure white
using the right paint is important too
yes
a gloss white gpu would be insane
the aero 4090 kinda looks like that ig
closest model to that look
youd be looking at a custom shroud for that though which just isnt even worth bothering
look at this beauty I built for my friend just yesterday
a blackout build
no lights
no noise
no heat
looks epic
feel free to share in #1059414196858662923
no heat, no noise?
ha.
thats funny.
try running cinebench + furmark
I mean, it's a 4060 + 7600 combo with 3 intake fans, 3 exhaust fans and 2 fans on the CPU cooler, all Arctic P12 PWM PST (except for the rear one, it's a CoolerMaster that came with the case)
The components definitely aren't going to overheat and the cooling is overkill enough lol...
And well, it wouldn't be that smart to test it right now because it's like 30+c indoors here, 40+c outside
excuses excuses 🙄
I would test it, no probs, it's just that I'm not there to test it lol
my personal machine wouldn't be cool or silent though
i can promise you though that no amount of fans will keep it quiet during a benchmark unless you purposefully set low curves ;)
my 6950XT in barely any load is louder than his entire PC under 100% load
makes sense its a 6950xt
do you even use house heating or do you just turn your pc on lmfao
I keep my windows open in winter - I have heating throughout the entire house and can't just disable it in my room lol
unironically, when I fire up anything GPU-heavy, my room reaches around 30c ambient temps at minimum
even in winter
when it's like -1c outside
heating throughout the entire house? i didnt know you kept your 6950xt in the living room
noooo
is it your pcpp link
no, it's just a method I use to send emojis without nitro... I copy the image link and paste it w some markdown
fair enough
I'm actually thinking about selling this PC, I'm disappointed with AMD's GPUs for what I do
Blender is horrendous on AMD
like, that's my biggest mistake lol
perfect opportunity for a HoF 4090
getting AMD for work
Oh God
toasty
very toasty
everything in there is OC anyway so it was gonna be hot
13900KS too
my 5900X with PBO gets hot even with a 360mm AIO
just because of my ambient temps
it's like 20c difference between summer and winter
in winter, I'm idling at ~30-40c on both the GPU and CPU
summer? yeah, 50-60c idle
true
i get 92C peak with my 13600k and a 360mm aio... contact frame too. intel is too hot for no reason. you always need a delid
unless youve got 90°C idle its just mostly a reflection of how warm your room is
I peak at around 75-80c on the CPU and 80-85 on the GPU (~95c hotspot) in summer conditions
92°C is fine
yeah. 5.7ghz all perf cores and 4.4 ecores
awesome
and well...
this is how I power my 6950XT
two 8-pins
it's not 4 cables
it's 2
it's just that I don't use the extension thingy
heard it makes these things unstable
but yeah, my PC's aesthetics are ass rn
yikes
pigtail?
i wouldnt even think about it on a 6950xt
the amount of issues I've had on this build
it's insane
it started off with horrendous GPU drivers
then unstable clocks
then CPU auto-OC issues (turns out, Adrenaline decided to enable it's own overclocking bs)
then recently, it started BSOD-ing with WHEA reporting memory errors (memtest after 3 passes said everything's fine)
I don't know what the fuck is going on at this point
I'm genuinely thinking about selling it
but then again, it's tough to sell it when used these builds go for like 1200-1300eur
and I built it for 1500 just under a year ago
keep in mind, 1500 because I literally got the AIO and NVMe for free. That's like 250eur value already.
thats not bad resale
it's still a 200+eur loss
and, without a job, I doubt I can just build a better one.
so I'm kinda stuck with what I have rn
its not as if youd ever resell it for 1500
as I said, I can't resell it for 1500
they go for around 1200-1300
(used)
there's a very similar build to mine going around for 1250eur, except that they have no AIO, a 3090 instead of the 6950XT and a 512gb SSD instead of a 1TB NVMe. @lusty hinge
if I'm able to sell mine at all, it would be for around 1200-1300eur at most
yeah but thats fine considering its older
and that's a 200-300eur loss without even counting in the AIO and NVMe I got for free, which are 200+eur in value already.
if i was to sell my old build now id technically be tanking 1.4k loss
damn
resell sucks but i mean youll never be able to sell old/pre owned hardware for similar to what you bought it for
I never expected to sell it for what I bought it for
but I didn't expect a 400eur+ loss either, after less than a year, lol
when Ryzen 9000 and RTX 5000 release, I'll be cooked fr
my PC will be worth next to nothing lol
but I hope it'll serve me well for at least a year more
because I'll be upgrading next year most likely
meh youll be able to sell it for a decent price when they release
maybe like 1.1k 1k 🤷♂️
that's not too bad either tbh
nope
if it stays around the 1200 mark, I'll be completely happy with it
if it drops below 1k, it'll be unfortunate
but yeah, I'm thinking whether it's worth spending like 2.5k on a build next time lmfao @lusty hinge
couldnt tell ya about 50 series + 9000 cuz they arent out but i spent 2.5k on mine lol
- another £90 for an A310
well, I expect them to be around the same price as previous gens upon release.
I'll probably aim for a ryzen 7/9 and an 80 series GPU
meh it depends on how they actually perform
true
might be better off getting RTX 4000 series or Ryzen 7000 series when the prices drop. You never know.
i mean if we go by strictly ryzen 7/9 indicator then the current gen sucks lol
true
the ryzen 9 performs worse than the 7800x3d in gaming
you have to disable an entire llc
plus tweak 3d cache
even then it trades blows
which is to be expected, tbh
they kind of messed up their focuses if you ask me
Ryzen 9 w 3D cache shouldn't exist if you ask me.
9 should be reserved for workstations and it's priority would be rendering performance and such
meanwhile, 7 and 5 should be "kings of gaming" with 3D cache
yeah theyre pretty mid cpus
the 7900X3D is a joke
it's worse than a 7800X3D for gaming
it's worse than a 7900 for work
it's more expensive than both
7600/7500f and 7800x3d are the only relevant 7000 gen for most people
7950X3D on the other hand was a good idea
but a very bad execution
lmfao 7900x3d 😂
literally stupid cpu
it's literally the stupidest thing ever, lol
it's a clueless CPU
why does it exist? no idea
7950X is relevant too, because some people (such as me) need more horsepower for work
yeah ha theyre alright
I don't care too much about gaming
like, I play siege
although, at 3440x1440 Ultrawide
but I play it at the lowest/competitive settings
with only shadows turned up to the max
almost anything can run siege like that
a 4070/7800XT would be capable of that easily too
got the game 5 years ago, it's addicting
fair enough
i sank a crap ton of hours into it ages ago and then realised the game sucks
it's pretty bad, because it's less realistic than it used to be, but I still like the core mechanics
it really takes skill to play it, it's one of the harder games to get used to and get good at. @lusty hinge
yeah
but then it cancels out because its siege lol
but its alright
i reinstalled it the other day played it for like 3 hours uninstalled it
if it was launched using steam itd be alright
oh God, yeah, Ubi's launcher is really bad
you launch siege through ubi's launcher that's launched through steam/epic
so I just installed Ubi's launcher and it's been alright ever since
I bought it on epic, so it's directly licensed on ubi.
oh yeah, you have a 4080 super?
how is it?
epic
Been thinking about selling my GPU and getting the 4080 super instead, but I'll have to wait and see what 5000 series will have to offer
very smooth experience. despite minecraft STILL needing optimisation mods lol
NVidium, yep
yeah take a look at them on release. if you buy 50 series... wait 6 months
yep
that's my plan, lol
they'll release late 2024 (end of 2024 probably) and I'll upgrade mid 2025
epic
but yeah, I think that an NVidia GPU will do a much better job for what I do
if you get a 4080 super avoid the zotac cards
but getting the cheapest one works
like cheapest model
oh, why's that? I actually like Zotac AMP's weird design
pretty sure Zotac's are the cheapest here lol...
but you can accidently brick them if you try tinkering too much with its rgb and stuff
so if you dont care about rgb its fine
Gigabyte moment
cant control it with any software either
only its firestorm software
they use a proprietary connection for rgb and they store it to flash memory
Gigabyte's RGB Fusion unironically bricked my BIOS on the B450 Aorus M I had
so if you somehow got it to be customisable on something like signalrgb youd just brick your card lol
so I know the struggle
dont install manufacturer software ;)
but yeah, idc about RGB, I'll probably do an ITX build in a CH160 and put it away lol
yeah thats fine then
the cooling on them is better than gigabytes and stuff iirc
id have to check that
whatever's the cheapest, I'll get it probably
this case should be fine
it's all-mesh
except for the side panel
looks epic
indeed
I was thinking about something like this... lemme get the pcpp list
https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/TkNLGP
@lusty hinge
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, Deepcool CH160 Mini ITX Desktop
96gb ram jumpscare
looks alright other than the pricey ram and ssd
but theyre fine
what die is that ram kit
isnt it samsung
I used to go in-depth with DDR4, DDR5 is just too hard for my brain to process
with it's weird configurations
lmfao fair enough
j think you mean awesome
idk, might be good, but it's a weird number
ddr5 sucks until they release a ddr5 trident z royal kit
then it instantly becomes awesome
but yeah, 96 should be perfect for Adobe's bs. AfterEffects eats up my 32gb like it's nothing
yeah 96gb is plenty
64 would probably be fine too
but if I'm spending money, I'm spending it properly
also, no clue why I chose the 4TB SN850x
might be better off with 2 separate drives, just in case one dies...
check xg7000 price
xg7000 2tb
rip
Hi
I kinda need a CPU upgrade
It's not that bad :(
good cpu but its outdated
💜
crashed
do not
don't even bother with AMD GPUs atm tbh
although, 7000 series should be fine
ha
thats funny
amd gpus absolutely neg in terms of price / performance
im considering a 7800xt anyway because theyre not too far in price
Old person here.. Neg?
Ah

7700xt "only" has 12gb VRAM anyway compared to the 16gb on the 7800xt
however... i dont think it matters much for what itll be used for
its only gonna be for my brother lol
i have a 4080 super
if that's the case, that's alright
lol yeah
if playing games is the primary use-case, then AMD is the way to go
although, I hope you won't encounter any issues like I did
whats the most intensive game my brother plays... fallout 76? idk
my 6950XT used to be really unstable lol
it's all good now, but only with the 24.1.1 and 24.6.1 drivers
yeah the higher 6000 series can be kinda jank but for the most part they're usually fine
i had a few 6000 series gpus
anything in between and before that is either bugged or fucked
only one i hated was a 6600xt but thats because i treated it like it was immortal
😭😭 thats so random
@lusty hinge btw, I'm getting WHEA errors and AuthenticAMD.sys (CPU driver) BSODs. WHEA says it's RAM, but 3 passes of memtest said that RAM is fine
it's pissing me off
it could be the CPU
what cpu was it you had
or, very rarely, it could be the GPU causing it
5900x
oh yeah
nothing's overheating, so heat isn't the problem
PBO is on (as well as Core Performance Boost or whatever it's called)
you could always see if theres anything in your minidump files
that's where all this info came from
oh awesome
@lusty hinge
not my first time debugging PCs, but I've never encountered errors as rare as mine
also, it's not Windows 10, it's Windows 11, it doesn't know what it is...
entirely new drive and windows install btw...
:)
I'll test out my friend's RAM and see if it occurs, but it rarely occurs as is
so it's really random
I'll try Prime95 because from what I've seen, one of the tests does a really good job at determining what the cause of this issue is
you could also try 1 stick
oh yeah, I also install my Windows without Secure Boot and TPM requirements. I'm using a custom unattended install (that I generate via rufus)...
it's been fine on all machines except for this one
and tbh, I doubt it's that
but I'll see
I just enabled Secure Boot in BIOS
it might be related
you never know
but then again, I'm pretty sure I also had it enabled on the old installation and it still crashed
if Secure Boot doesn't help, I'll try disabling XMP
and then I'll try new RAM
yeah thats pretty easy to try so no harm there
it only started happening recently. Like, a few weeks ago
so it's REALLY weird
oh yeah very
it's been fine until then
try 1 stick at a time if this doesnt work
mhmm
- Secure Boot
- XMP
- Single stick
- New RAM
that's the order
😎
if none of that works, I might try a different CPU
but that's gonna be a pain in the ass
yeah that one is much more difficult
if it means anything im also going through some pain lol.
realised yesterday i completely forgot one of the standoffs for my motherboard
main problem is - all of my friends are on Ryzen 2000 and their cooling DEFINITELY isn't sufficient for a 5900x lol
(if we were to do a CPU swap & test)
realized yesterday i completely forgot one of the standoffs for my motherboard
That's nothing. At least it's working fine lol
yeah but... im gonna put it on
its one of the centre ones so i gotta take it out
not hard
just effort lol
itll be fine to turn on for a short while though
You sure Wraith Stealth can do the job, lol?
one friend has an AK400 though
pretty sure that'd be fine
but then again, I'd have to struggle with a Ryzen 5 2600 lol
wraith stealth is probably the better of the stock coolers
Spire & prism \🔛\🔝
i doubt itll reach its tjmax unless you put it under a big load
I'd have to put it under a load to test it properly
Prime95 is one hell of a beast when it comes to CPU/RAM load
not with my X72 lul
oh of course not
i meant on the prism
off topic but apparently the 5700x3d is $160 on amazon rn
that's a steal
my mobile amazon just defaults back to uk and im not on my pc so i cant check
I paid 132eur for my 5600
but if it is thats great
(old 5600)
not too bad ig
US?
rip maybe not
oh nbm
thought it was a 5800X3D
I remember seeing Micro center doing a sale - $350 for a 5800X3D, a B550 mobo and 32GB of RAM @ 3200mhz @lusty hinge
like, US pricing is nuts
that seems alright for when it was
the 7800x3d one rn is alright
7700x is basically worthless
but $350 for a CPU, Mobo and RAM? it's insane
you could build a ~$1k machine with a 4070 super and 5800x3d
and it'd beat my 6950XT + 5900x combo that cost me 1500eur lol
😭
Wallpaper engine annoys me, sucks that it can't get system resource usgae
usage*
Corsair ICUE also annoys me
using corsair icue is the problem
using it even effects 1% lows
its a garbage software
I know
But I have a s***load of Corsair stuff
Case, AIO, 6 fans, keyboard, 4 ram sticks all Corsair
I have the actual app closed, with just the service running for taking care of pump/fan curves, which helps with temps and stuff, but it still sucks
Using Hardware mode, because the 6 fans and the pump are plugged into a Commander Core pro, you have to have the same effect on all of it.
no way
Trying to make my PC Iron Man theme and limited because of it
Currently like this and I wanted to do something like this
oookaaay thats epic
Then I wanted this as my wallpaper, but I wanted to edit it, so the time/date, media player and then the %'s be actual CPU, GPU, RAM and network usage, but wallpaper engine doesn't allow that, and I don't want to have wallpaper engine and rainmeter open at the same time just for a wallpaper
And then I added an Iron Man Funko Pop my GF bought me ontop of my GPU
Funko pops are great
I love the personalized one I have with myself from the store in Hollywood
I'm trying to take pics of the RGB but my phone camera isn't doing the colour justice
The guys are doing a promotion that doesn't even work, what a load of crap
well that sucks because i have a headset from them but i guess i don’t really need to change the eq inside iCue
it never does
https://ibb.co/dL8pcd3
makes mine look like rubbish
those hotspots arent even visible in person
and the colours are better
its fine to use if you like it.. but its rubbish lol
i just stick to OpenRGB and SignalRGB
Yeah, my red RGB looks so washed out in a picture when it's pure red in person, with no hotspots
yeah phone cameras really make it look rubbish
Yo guys does anyone know a good monitor wall mount?
im no expert but if you're looking for any angle try free movement wall mounts
like monitor arms or something
you can also get a normal mount against the wall like i do
@lusty hinge Remember those WHEA Memory errors I mentioned yesterday?
Here's more details.
Siege crashes with this specifically: 0x124 AuthenticAMD.sys
After the crash, Event Viewer shows me WHEA Logger entries mentioning Memory (it used to be Processor Core before I sorted out the GPU drivers)
Yeah, I have no clue what's causing them at this point. It only happened in Siege so far and I can't replicate the issue consistently - it happens randomly.
So far:
- Happened before and after a windows reinstall
- Happened before and after new GPU drivers
- Happened before and after updating the BIOS
And I tested the following: - memtest86, 3 passes - 0 errors
- OCCT CPU+RAM test, Normal, AVX2, Load set to Variable - 0 errors
- SAM disabled/enabled (crashed with both)
One thing I remembered, though, is the fact that in Optimum Tech's video about PBO2 Curve Optimizer for the 5900x - he managed to push it to negative 30 on all cores. Meanwhile, my PC couldn't do negative 25 all core so I didn't even try further (that was a few months ago).
I didn't try individual OCCT tests, only the CPU+RAM one
4TB nvme m.2 for £167.99 https://amzn.eu/d/0aFQbVP1
I have almost this exact spec lmk if you want details on how stuff runs
Only notable diffs are im running cl30 RAM and mine is ATX not itx so cooling may be diff
it’s the only reason i use it lol i have no other corsair products. if i can get openRGB to work it would be great but MSI is quirky
someone did just sent me the support files for my board to make it work i just haven’t tried it yet
@lusty hingeholy fuck, that's dirt cheap
honestly, all I need is LLM, Stable Diffusion and Blender performance
also, would be nice to know how photoshop, illustrator, premiere and aftereffects perform
i meant to send you it earlier
£167.99 for 4tb nvme
oh wait
i did
LOL
thats gonna use quite a bit of your gpu or cpu from what i remember when i used it
wallpaper engine?
its gonna use like
minimal resources
youd have to be running decade old hardware for it to be noticable
i used some free wallpaper that was animated, and it killed my pc so badly
limit the frame rate then
Wallpaper engine is fine, uses minimal unless you have some dumb wallpaper with loads of code running on it, but even then it's fine, and then you can have it turn off when the wallpaper isn't visible so it doesn't effect other apps/games
Just don't want wallpaper engine and rainmeter open at the same time, but I need rainmeter to do what I want it to look like because wallpaper engine doesn't support it which is annoying
It's not bad but for some reason it really doesn't get along with Razer Cortex's game overlay. Although, everything was affected by it. I just had to disable the overlay altogether.
Wouldn't catch me using a Razer product in the first place
I've now got a beautiful live wallpaper of my guardian from Destiny 2 just vibing on top of H.E.L.M. watching the Traveler.
I really like them, tbh. Although yes, their software can be a little glitchy sometimes. But it's all good. I won't touch Logitech any more though, just not very good build quality any more.
I have a Logitech mouse and powerplay mousematt and they are fine
I've had a few of their keyboards and the keycaps wore off way too damned fast. I also had a pair of Pro X Wireless headphones and the USB dongle kept glitching out and having to be unplugged and replugged in almost daily.
I used to like Logitech, but I just don't trust their product any more.
Especially after they dumped the entire Harmony remote line.
That's not the way to do business.
found your issue
manufacturer software
They're fine imo
products fine
I switched from Logitech mouse and powerplay to a Razer mouse
software rubbish
If it wasn't for powerplay, I'd still be using a wired mouse
I barely touch it and it's been fine for me
Razer Cortex is "Game Booster" software, so it's automatically bad
No "Game Booster" should ever be installed
I might make an app that does all the changes for performance, that doesn't need to be open, just a run 1 time kind of thing
Change settings and registry stuff for best performance
Would anyone be interested?
Didn't take too long
Still got more to add though ofcourse
That's because optimisers use an app, that's constantly running, wasting resources and because of that, gives you less performance, this is a 1 time run script which doesn't use any resources.
youd never catch me using an optimiser
it could be worse though
custom gaming ISOs exists
some of them go as far as disabling windows updates and disabling windows protector and firewall
Yeah no thanks
App I'm making just changes registry edit I change every time I'm install windows anyway
I install*
Whatever, haters gonna hate I guess.
Razer Cortex shouldn't be installed on anything
meh
i couldnt care less what you do with your computer at the end of the day
but manufacturers software is peak awful
Pfft, children
?
idk id consider myself knowledgeable enough to be able to speak on software being sucky but i guess not
I guess not
I guess calling apps that claim to speed up a PC, but actually do the opposite sucky is wrong
Yes pls send it
morecoco has a big sale on rn
4080 supers are so cheap
the same one i bought is £300 cheaper LOL
Still need to add more to it, but I sent you the current version
@lusty hinge I think my PSU died
Wait no that can’t be bc the fans were going
But I brought it back from shutdown and they were going full power
And there was a red light near the PSU
Bruh
I just booted it up again and it turned on fine
@lusty hinge
So far I have
Disable Xbox Gamebar
Disable Network Throttling
Optimise System Resopnsiveness
Optimise CPU and GPU priority
Disable Windows Telemetry
Mouse Optimisation
Enable Game Mode
Increase Privacy (Turns off some things like Location and stuff in Windows Privacy settings)
Think of anything else I can add?
not a clue
hey friend
hey
What kind of screwdriver should I buy that I can pickup from a local Home Depot?
Medium sized, preferably long, not too fat Phillips.
Ok but what name?
IDK, Home Depot website is down.
Just any medium sized, longish, not too fat phillips screwdriver will do.
Preferably magnetic to keep hold of screws in fidly places
Alr thanks
I believe most screws in a PC are phillips ph2 size
Should this work?
No idea, I don't know any of the brands nor have I ever been at home depot. However as long as it says something like ph2 or the metrics that ph2 uses (should be able to just google those), it should work.
yes
ph1 and ph2 are what you need
any screwdriver kit works
magnetic tips is ideal which is what you have there
this is used for m.2 screws primarily
this for basically every other screw
My savior 🙏🏿 appreciate it man
My cpu had an intel fan alr in the box but I forgot that I bought these as well what should I do?
Swap it
Okay I also realized that I was on carpet
Thankfully i wasnt wearing socks
💀 I wore socks while I was building mine nothin happened lol
Oh w thanks
its fine
it takes a lot more to kill something than people make out
if you use carpet just make sure to ground yourself whenever you start moving around a lot
It turns out I need a new case 😭
Yup
take a fan out 😆
Imma try that
its the method
This is the case that I got
Should I take the 3 front ones out?
nooooo
keep 2
take the middle one out and see if your gpu fits
if it doesnt work you can just return it and get a new case
(903 max 🫣🫣)
it should
its amazon so i hope so
ive always had good experience with returns and stuff
Okay
I might as well do it now since I can’t sleep and I’ve been working on it all night
The cover doesn’t come off
The fans are kinda just stuck there
It came with fans btw
It’s not available in my region man 😭
😢
honestly cases arent too important
just find one you like the look of with room for parts
Is the MONTECH XR, ATX Mid-Tower good?
For the redeon 6800?
question for anyone
anyone know what strimmer rgb gpu cables work for a asus dual 4070 super ti ?
Anyone know if the Western Digital Red 3TB (WD30EFRX)
Is a good HDD? I recently found 2 of them in an old (barely used) NAS and have been thinking about putting them in my PC as extra storage
how much for
I got them for free
cant really deny something if its free.
you could give me an NV2 and id use it if its free.
but yes, its alright
it is a HDD so it'll be "slower".. but i assume you know that lol
Yeah, can’t really expect SSD speeds, but as long as they’re solid hdd speeds, they should be good for bulk storage
Sweet, I also still have a 1 TB SATA-SSD in my old PC, 10 TB sounds like exactly what I need
nice
Motherboard shipped with cpu installed in original box and packaging. Used for 1-2 months, liquid cooled, kept well under temps. Great mother board and a great cpu, I'm only selling because I'm buying an amd cpu and motherboard from a friend. Message me if you have any questions. (Megumi not included)
Hello friends, I need to complete the settings of Arctis Nova 7. If you have a sonar system, can you help me?
question because I have yet to be able to find an answer
am I able to upgrade/add to the RAM in that laptop
all I'm finding are general how-to guides, not an answer to the question
(general as in not for that model specifically)
u just search for "the model that u want" ram if ram for it comes up then yes it can be upgraded if not then no it canno
t
I don't know anything about laptop components so I don't know if model-specific ram is a thing
tell me the model number of the laptop u r looking to upgrade
15-dy1091wm
yh cuz the motherboard probs only has one slot
what I'm seeing on crucial's website is they sell kits of 2
for the exact model?
and another website is saying the model actually has two
yeah
maybe i looked at a trash company go for that 1
whether the options are any good, no idea
oh i understand\
because that crucial thing goes up to 64 GB, two sticks of 32 each
16 gb is 1 stick and 32 is 2
but the other site says the max it can handle is 32
yh most laptops like this can only handle 32
i would suggest get a dual channel one off amazon and if it doesn't work return it
I just don't know which is right since it's got a 64 GB kit, dual channel 32 gb
the crucial page
but the other site for that specific model says it caps at 32 GB
i think it probs caps at 32
https://www.memorystock.com/memory/HewlettPackard15dy1091wm.html?srsltid=AfmBOoonhrpTMltYqeZqvi_0HLBFwvAOO7wdq7aYxsT55ABU380xQWDF Taking it with a grain of salt since this is the other site
Memory Upgrade for HP 15-dy1091wm Laptop, Upgrade 15-dy1091wm Memory with 100% compatible 15-dy1091wm HP Laptop Memory RAM modules from memorystock.com.
that's a different model
So I'm not entirely sure how to read this
it says 33554432 as the result of that command
So new question
that worth $80?
or should I try and find something cheaper?
how much did u get the laptop for?
shrugs fuck if I know, it was a gift
Well I only have the default 8 GB
scam
do u need to upgrade it what r u using it for?
yeah because until I can get my actual tower PC back up and running
this is my only functional option
Currently I'm only playing minecraft because anything else would just wreck this laptop
valid
and it can barely handle that at 8 GB of ram since the thing takes 6 GB
yh i would say upgrade the ram
see if u can find it cheaper on amazon or somewhere else
otherwise i would get the crucial
https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct16g4sfra32a/ct19658218 I mean they have a 16 gb kit for just shy of 50
lol i need to convert it to aud everytime but yh it looks good to me
63 bucks
what was the 80 in AUD out of curiosity?
Ok follow-up question
1 TB for 64 USD worth it?
since the default is 250GB
get 500gb or if i were u just stick with default if ur only playing mc
do u use this laptop for work or school?
yh stick with the base 256
I've already used up half the 250 is why I'm considering upgrading it
but u only play minecraft no?
yeah but I also have a bunch of files like resumes for work and stuff on it
i guess u could play league/dota or val on it asw
use the cloud for that
those will eventually be transferred over to my tower PC again once I get it back up and running
you can't upload from the cloud
use onedrive or google drive
just download what u need when u need it, it's downloads instantly and then upload it
and yh u can upload from the cloud i do it all the time with emailing my word docs from onedrive
also I'd have to figure out how to change everything over to the new drive
since I doubt I can just swap them
unless this laptop has more than one m.2 slot and I just don't know it
no onedrive it's the virtual cloud where u can put ur files
I meant the OS and stuff
Yeah but I'd have to figure out how to swap it from the 250 to the 500
that's what I meant
ohh
it's not hard u watch a video
or get a tech store to do it for u for like 50 bucks
What I mean is I don't think this laptop has more than one drive slot
yh it doesn't so u have u replace the current slot
then yeah I'd probably just have to go to best buy and pay for a data transfer
yh
considering that's 128 for the RAM and the M.2 though, $200 for the total upgrade isn't terrible
(they're both 64 USD)
I don't play Valorant, not a fan personally of games like that
but I could play league again, yeah
but yeah, valorant, apex, etc, not a fan of
tried Apex, got bored of it almost immediately
i love fps games love the dopamine rush
I love FPS games
it's specifically the ones like apex and valorant that I don't like
I was playing Overwatch a lot until blizzard decided to be a dick
Tried CS:GO, not my cup of tea when it comes to FPS
I like more traditional ones like COD, Halo, etc
My main problem with CS:GO is for a newer addition to the franchise, it's stupid that you can't even ADS for most of the weapons
and yeah
alr well it's 12am and i got school tmr so cya
bonks It's 9 AM here, go to sleep
cya gn
Hello
just reinstall windows
no
just save up and get a 1tb
better 1tb*
You say this like I have a spare windows 10 lying around.
Feel free to suggest one that is compatible with my laptop
If it was a desktop I wouldn't care but this is a laptop
???
you just need a usb lol
And I don't have one.
theyre all compatible?
you can get a pack of 14 sextillion online for a fiver
Or I can just move all the data at once and not worry about it.
what
@lusty hinge Is it normal for coil whine to come and go? Sometimes I hear it, sometimes I don't
yes
Ok
I still haven't opened up the PC to determine the source bc I haven't used my PC much recently
Turned it on today and was reminded of the coil whine :P
It is odd that it happened right when I replaced all my cooling stuff
around then, anyway
i get "noticeable" coil whine once i launch specific programs and games. mostly because theyre more intensive on my hardware compared to others
theres no reason to determine the source unless you want to replace it
which is... a waste of money
coil whine isnt harmful
Cause it's annoying 😅
headphones
They only block so much
When gaming I barely hear it
But when just reading something or browsing I do :P
music
Better headphones and louder volume? :p
I had ones that blocked more sound but they were too tight on the ears
could get nc headphones if you really want
Yea but I got these ones not that long ago
ANC is so guuud
Maybe tho
but id rather just listen to music
what is ANC
anc my beloved 💜💜💜💜
if ANC didnt exist id never leave my house
I use a b&o h95 also, they're pretty great but insane price
You know it's bad when they make AirPods Max seem cheap 😂
Which headset do you use?
well for my pc i use nova pro... so no ANC. tempted to buy the wireless version but its not worth it just for that one feature.
currently for anc im running my white xm4s
love the white xm4. sound great, feel great, and look so cool
theyre awesome
theyre a bit pricey
but imo its worth it
i was going to get the xm5, i borrowed some a little while ago.. but the white was pretty expensive. also, i got the xm4 for £110 brand new. it was kind of a no brainer
same reason i have the motherboard i do. got it £80 brand new, despite it not necessarily being my favourite choice i still went with it
110 is super cheap
yup
got it on prime day + another discount
it would have been almost stupid for me to not get them
Yup
i love the white too
the photos that they use on their listings really dont do it justice
its.. so cool.
Why does my fan sound like that lol
whats your fan speed %
also show a photo of your airflow set up
it might just be the fan bearings
The glass is tinted and there is like no RGB but i can try
I still don't think I did this proeprly
Yea I can't get a good photo at all
all good
There is a ton of reflection
probably some fan bearing
But I can draw it
try messing around with speeds if you want
Which piece is the fan bearing
its inside the fan
What about when u are playing smth demanding
and it gets hot
O
flatline.
Do you think it's just coincidence that my coil whine started around when I replaced the cooling
unless my cpu is 95°C i couldnt care less about its temps
mine was that hot for months 🗿
coincidence yes
dang ok
Why do screenshots go to my hard drive 🗿
Whenever I press windows shift s it whirs my hard drive
and it takes a sec
Well it only whirs if I haven't done a sc in a bit
it needs to temp save the screenshot somewhere lol, so of course its going to use your storage
My windows is on my SSD tho
Also for a while now windows has actually saved the screenshot to a folder
How do I know what if my CPU is compatable with the motherboard
and is windows pre installed on a CPU or smth?
check the socket
what cpu do you have?
no, you need to activate windows after building a pc
you use a digital key/disk to install it
you just put the disk into the usb port and follow the steps
it is very simple
the compatibility is socket, just check what socket your processor has and look for a motherboard with the same socket
my last message could be not clear
Socket 1200
I think my PC is radioactive
I tried to take a picture of the inside of my PC on my camera lens just broke into pieces and started vibrating
😭
HOW DOES THAT EVEN HAPPEN
Hey I got a question,should I go AM4 or AM5
@lusty hinge I actually might've solved the issue
(the crashing)
been playing siege for a while now without any issues
turns out- it was probably all caused by Radeon Anti-Lag
not the + or 2, the old antilag.
I have an LG 27GP950-B monitor as my main monitor, and I wanted one that looks the exact same, but 1440p instead of 4K for my second monitor, but I can't find one that looks exactly the same, and don't really want another 4K/160hz monitor as a second screen. bit overkill just for spotify and Discord xD
That's a two part question: Budget and goal in my opinion.
Am4 is amazing on right setup. If you don't aim for a super high end build, but one to have some fun and do other things. But, if you can invest more, I'll go to AM5 because of DDR5 memories. Quite faster and make room for more innovations on overall setup.
Going for AM5 will also give you upgrade options in the future
Depends. Imo getting a AM4 mobo and CPU is way cheaper right now, and you might be able to upgrade to a higher end AM4 CPU on sale, or used, for way cheap later on.
I would only go with AM5 IF you want bleeding edge performance, or you are planning to upgrade in the foreseeable future.
For 99% of uses, a mid range AM4 cpu is more than enough.
no
no.
no no no.
totally budget + country dependent.
?
you are incorrect
you dont buy am5 for bleeding edge performance
you buy am5 because its currently the only socket that makes sense to buy at a decent budget, assuming gaming.
AM4 is cheaper, and for most use cases, is more than enough. Not everyone plan to upgrade their PCs every few years.
And you can upgrade within the AM4 chipset still
i do not care about whats "enough" in this context
xd
AM4 should not be considered whatsoever unless you are in countries like egypt, france, italy etc on a low budget
yeah, u r right buddy mb
if youre on a low budget in other countries, a 12400f is usually a much better buy.
if your budget is anything higher than about $850 in the US or £800-900 in the UK, you should be buying AM5 or LGA 1700
AM4 has a decent line up, im not denying it. however like LGA 1700 it is dead end. unless intel 15th gen gets a 1700 release, which it may, its a road block
a dead end platform isn't necessarily bad
but if you're buying new and have a budget that isnt very restricting, you should usually be aiming for AM5 (gaming) or LGA 1700 (workstation)
gaming and workstation arent necessarily set it stone. but it is typically how it goes.
if you're already on AM4 for example, lets say you have a 3600X, you're still pretty restricted. buying a 5600 is not really worth it as the performance uplift is minimal.
the only CPUs worthwhile on AM4 if you're already on it are the 5600 and the 5700X3D. the rest are kinda meh.
if you consider the 5800X3D you're doing it wrong, and instead should look at a 7600(X)
Yo, is the 4080 super a good match with the Intel i91400 K
Nothing is good with a 19400k
depends
why are you buying a 14900k
but if thats really a 19400k then i want to know where youve got it from
Hello, I am having a problem with steelseries gg. My keyboard is not working as it should be, I cannot adjust the colors as I want, I deleted it and reinstalled it, but it did not fix it.
Please use #1047622297382567936

You're in the wrong place, please use #1047622297382567936

nice
no problem
da fuq this guy is child
i want some opinions about 2 graphic cards. what would you chose?
RTX 3060 12GB price 278 or RTX4060 8GB price 299
going for more hz of more memory?
neither of them
for starters you shouldn't be buying either of those brand new
especially not a 3060
are you using it for gaming?
what country
netherlands i have now 1050\
you are more for amd than nividia
and what do you think in general is better more vram of newer cards?
vram isnt as important as gpu performance
souds legit
it also shouldn't be blindly seen as "more vram = better"
sounds
the 4060ti 16gb performs only marginally better than the 8gb
the 3060 has a 12gb variant for some reason
the 4080 super has 16gb vram yet you won't max that out basically ever
the 7900XTX has 24GB but its not properly usable
oke thanks for your insight. my current card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4 GB)
and the 2 card are dropt in prices they started at 600
nice

Harde schijf Samsung SSD 990 PRO 1TB (1000 GB, PCI-E 4.0 x4)
i worded this poorly
but i get it
the 7900XTX does have 24GB VRAM and it is fully usable. however you very likely will not use it.
if you're buying a GPU specifically for VRAM (machine learning for example) you will want NVIDIA.
if you're buying a GPU for 4K, you'll much prefer NVIDIA (currently)
the 7900XTX is usable at 4K, however with current GPUs, DLSS 3.7 is much better at 4K than FSR 3.1
nice
if you can afford it consider the 6800
https://nl.pcpartpicker.com/product/Hg92FT/xfx-radeon-rx-6800-16-gb-speedster-swft-319-video-card-rx-68xlaqfd9
just under 400 euros
the swft model is large
i will look further into it. thanks for your time
no problem
