Bottom line is, unless you want to actually cheat and download a bypass for the anticheat measures fortnite uses (which is very against ToS, and you'll 100% be perma banned) just don't use the overlay and learn to get good with the default crosshair. Both EAC and BattlEye detect and block 3rd party overlays to prevent cheaters abusing them.

with the apex 5 you only get one switch option, hybrid clicky blues which kinda feel like membranes
for the 7 you have a choice between red, brown and blue QX2s which are linear, tactile and clicky respectively
there is no 'best' switch because everyone has preferences
it'd be recommended to get a switch tester or test actual keyboards with varying switches if possible

What do you guys like for hi-fi PC sound? I was gonna buy the Arctis Pro+Gamedac but for that price I can get a decent surround system.
I mean, I'm like 80% sold on the Arctis, I've just seen a few too many horror stories on here and I'm wondering if I'm missing any good alternatives.

TBF basing your decision off of how many people say they have a problem with a certain product here in the Discord is kinda dumb because people are far more likely to complain about a product they have an issue with and make a big deal out of it than people are to constantly praise a certain product they've had no issues with. It's better to base your judgement off of reviews on sites like Amazon or Newegg and also YouTube reviewers, etc.

The 7X transmitter is different from the regular 7 transmitter because it has the different pairing and output modes for PC, Xbox, and PS5 and I'm pretty sure the 7X headset itself assists in switching between paring methods and the regular 7s don't have that same tech so that's why I don't think it would work

If the PS5 has Bluetooth pairing then theoretically you could plug the base station into your PC and have the headset connected to that with the 2.4ghz and use the simultaneous Bluetooth to also pair with the PS5 at the same time

Really the only feature the 9X has over the 7X is the simulations Bluetooth pairing so you could connect your headset to your phone while also using it on the Xbox. If you don't really need that feature the 7X is basically superior in every other way and $50 less

7X has longer battery life and more versatile because you can also use the transmitter on both Xbox and a PC
So yeah, if you aren't going to use the simultaneous Bluetooth feature on the 9X then I would say the 7X is the way to go

@stray axle You can get an apex 5 for $100 which is a hybrid of mechanical/membrane. Or you buy the apex 7 which is $30 more for a real mechanical keyboard. Using a college student discount would bring the price down to $100 too
