Anyone using Sonar? I have set the Game channel as my default Output so that future games will use that settings. However, the volume knob on my keyboard only adjusts the Game channel NOT the Master Channel. So, if I am watching on browser/mediaplayer.. The Media channel is not affected by the knob.

I just want to stick right here that since moving from Arctis 7 to the updated 7+ which uses Sonar and Virtual Cables has been a huge disapointment and a rage inducing experience. Steelseries fell so hard from grace moving over to software that just wasn't and isn't and from the experience probably won't be ready.

The constantly resetting of audio sliders to the very most annoying thing which is Sonar itself not picking up the Virtual cables on some days forcing me to go into the app and change everything over to use 'Headphones (Arctix7+)'. 1/10 Experience and the 1 is just because the audio quality is the same as the 7s.

Yes it’s a bug I’ve seen too. The latest update has borked everything. The solution is to completely kill the process and restart GG. If you’re lucky it should work again, until you sign out or put your computer to sleep.

I’ve started seeing this issue as well. It’s a bug in the application. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled a few times. It doesn’t really help that much. The issue always returns. The solution for me is to completely exit GG, kill the process entirely, wait a bit then restart the app manually.

can confirm this is normal behavior. sonar will only show microphone input activity when there is an app running which has requested access to the microphone. you're seeing no activity because gg/sonar doesnt seem to request the access itself when its open. maybe it should. regardless, theres nothing wrong with your system. the only time you'll see activity is when your microphone is doing something with another app.

Yeah. Maybe it’s to do with how Microsofts privacy controls work in Windows now. You can see exactly what and when apps request access to the microphone. Windows must do a permissions check every time it’s activated. The rest of the time it’s not in use it’s literally not detecting sound.

I seem to be able to run the nova 7 headset without the software, but you won’t get any of the special features. The gg software is required to check the battery status, do firmware updates, adjust volume side tone, to make party mic controls work, and to setup and use virtual audio devices so that you can apply eq settings to individual channels, and to setup noise gate. In short, it’s best to have the GG software installed, even if you chose to not always have it running in the background.

That said, gg is a bit of a mess in my opinion so I understand why you’re asking whether you need it. Firstly they do user unfriendly things like require online account setup and sign in just to use what I consider to be basic features on a headset; like sonar which lets you do eq adjustments. It’s doesn’t benefit the user in any real way, it just lets them do analytics, which is usually anti-consumer and privacy invasive. Secondly gg is becoming bloatware with so many unrelated features to headsets, it’s likely to get more and more buggy. Perhaps that’s why in the latest version people are seeing it get stuck loading, constantly virtual audio devices stop working and requires a complete exit and restart of the process to get it working again. I do think gg is destined to become a burdensome POS, if it isn’t already. I’d steer my friends away from buying their headset products if only because of this fact. Hardware wise, the audio quality on my new Nova 7x is mid, if not outright weird at times. The design results in poor breathability which means it gets hot around the ears during extended play. It’s also quite a loose fit and you’ll find it will slip around or slip off if you’re moving about or leaning while doing tasks. The battery life is ok, but average and other headsets do better. The only real pro is that it supports Bluetooth and 2.4ghz simultaneously, but that’s a niche use-case. Another negative is that it won’t operate over usb, so you better not lose or break the 2.4ghz adapter. Also it has bad performance with 3.5mm jack. Overall it’s just overpriced hardware.

If anyone else has put in a ticket for the bugs related to gg getting stuck or sonar audio randomly stops working, feel free to let me know if you get a good response. It’s a fault in the software, and we can only hope they fix it soon with an update, or let us rollback to a previous version.

Yeah some cables are power only.

You can tell your PC to forget the controller connection under Bluetooth settings. After that power cycle the controller and then plug in the cable.

does anyone with Arctis Nova 7 have sound issues with League of Legends? For lost ark the audio is perfect but in league the sound sometimes cuts out/has some static/sounds...just off. I can't really describe it. It gets worse in teamfights, so it makes me think it's CPU related, but lost ark is also cpu intensive and it doesn't happen there so IDK

If I toggle between my desktop speakers the sound goes back to normal, and toggling back to headset makes it sound strange again. Didn't happen with my old Arctis 7s.

Wireless Arctis Nova 7s are such a downgrade from previous models. The sonar auto changes the input source. There should be a way to lock it to the headset. The software is way too finicky with this headset.
