whoever designed the artis pro wireless to not be able to use line in/out ports unless headset is disconnected needs to be fired. Oh and the ps5 mode doesnt work, even with the ps5 being out for 2 years. lets not forget that.

I'm a bit sad that the Nova Pro wireless base station does not have Optic in/out

However I I'm greatful that they did an xbox variation this time

although I can see that the ACN for the mic is still just as useless as it has always been and practically non existent on Xbox

and for PC still requires the sonar software to do a proper job of background ACN for the mic

would be nice if that could all be controlled from the base station instead of needing an app and PC resources to dive it

Hello everybody 🙂 Im new into PC Gaming and i got myself a Arctis x9. Now everywhere i have several Options to choose for Audio Output. For example in a Game, i could choose between Default, Xbox Controller or Sonar Arctis x9. The Problem is, i can only hear something when i choose Xbox Controller. Is this because i use a Xbox Bluetooth Adapter? And if yes, do i get my Settings from Sonar and EQ anyway, no matter what i choose as a Audio Output? Thanks 🙂

I have an Arctis 9 (the 9X is a separate headset) and that one does allow simultaneous audio streams from a 2.4ghz and Bluetooth source. Not sure about the 9X.

Coming from the Arctis 9 to the NPW the biggest game changer for me was the hotswap batteries. Also the sound quality is noticeably better, more detailed, clearer and by default the soundstage is much wider than a lot of other wireless headsets

That's why I originally picked up the Arctis 9 a couple years ago. I wanted the original Arctis Pro Wireless but pandemic stock shortages made that impossible, but when I was able to upgrade to the Nova I did it almost immediately and haven't been disappointed

Yeah money isn't the issue. It's just spending that kind of money on a "gaming headset" since they usually don't do anything well except offer a full package.

I use mine for pretty much everything when I'm home with the Bluetooth. It stays connected to my phone all the time for calls and watching social media content, and if I'm not at my desktop I'll connect the Bluetooth to my laptop and use the headset for whatever I'm doing as well. Plus the noise cancelling is nice. It's not as good as something like the Bose QC series or Sony WH1000X series, but for general room noise it does a great job of cancelling it

On the 9 or the NPW? The answer is no for both. But another plus for the NPW is the removable batteries so when they start to go it's easy to pick up new ones without having to do surgery on the headset or replace it outright

You could pick up a separate keycap set (SteelSeries or otherwise) in a Nordic layout, but that's really the only alternative if you specifically want the 2023 version of the Pro

Tbf, I never said anything about the mic quality. I just sent the third party review that included a mic test. It's average for a wireless headset mic. Anything that isn't a ModMic is going to sound like garbage, but it's passable for what it is. The wired version has the good mic. I only use it for taking calls when I'm at my PC. I personally use a Blue Yeti on a mic arm in a partially sound treated room for PC comms

So after a boatload of self troubleshooting with the Nova Pro Wireless on the PS5 for mic sensitivity and interference. I had to plug the second USB into my computer, swap the input source to it, then swap back to the other source and the mic quality was vastly improved. Hopefully there's a patch to remedy this and also allow adjustment of the noise filter level for the ps5. Kind of shocking it's this restricted on a $350 headset.

If you're connecting it with the including USB cable to your PC then it should show up in Engine automatically without needing to register anything. If you're trying to connect it with a 3.5mm cable then you won't be able to use Engine to change settings

Funny enough, I had a 650 that I had to eventually replace with a rival 5 due to my own reasons that I don’t exactly remember, I think I “accidentally” snapped something on it somewhere and it was over the warranty period. long story short, it comes down some very few things. 1. Do you care about wireless functionality. If so then the 650 wireless would be your best bet. 2. Is it ok if the mouse is a tiny bit on the heavy side? If you cannot have any added weight and your used to light mice, the rival 5 is a lot lighter. 3. Technically the rival 5, despite being cheaper, actually has a more recent, better spec’ed sensor (for the time being, till the 650 gets a refresh). From very personal experience with my insanely low dpi and sensitivity (yes… both 💀), it’s honestly practically almost unnoticeable going from the 650 to the rival 5. Also for a 4th thing to consider, the rival 5 does also have a lot more programmable side buttons which is neat, and the sensor doesn’t have a very far reach which is actually good when lifting the mouse (if you play with high sensitivity). Technically the 650 beats the rival 5 in terms of liftoff distance but that’s just by a tiny bit because it has an extra sensor.

Honestly that's a better mentality than some of the things I've seen. Some people put all the weight on mods for some reason which stinks. Honestly though I can agree, some of the bugs I see are arguably so easily fixable. From needing the ability to export any config manually no matter the device or category (so engine and sonar), to needing just as simple as a repair executable burried in a support folder in the program files folder that'll keep your configs, and reinstall the app and verify files so you don't have to worry about reconfiguring or anything.

like sure can't get everything right first time but when you got 100s of paying customers telling you your 100$+ pair of headphones has a severe design flaw that causes a headset cup to dangle from the rest of a headset by a single wire and you don't care enough to fix it, it's a completely different deal

i feel scammed just giving this company a second chance with the nova pro at this point

has the exact same design flaw with the microphone where it doesn't actually mute as the arctis pro had

needless to say i don't think i'll ever buy anything from this company again after this

not that the people that work for the company in any capacity are bad people for doing so, most are just here to help with the community side

and i don't hold resentment or grudges against them for just working for a company but the company itself just isn't the high quality brand i thought it was

ah the issue where instead of cutting the microphone line when muting, it sets the gain to "-∞" or something which technically isn't actually 0 so if you edit audio while the microphone is muted or you just have a sensitive enough setup you can actually hear yourself even when muted.

Yea honestly some users have amazing experiences with steelseries (which tbh most of mine are as I have all ss gear) but I've noticed others have some pretty bad ones which stinks

Just bought my very first Steelseries Headset (Arctis Nova Pro) and despite setting up everything as described, plus troubleshooting based on their support articles, guidance via steelseries ticket, community help via Discord, I can't get the Game and Media via Sonar to work. It is clearly a problem with Sonar, because everything else works fine.
I've ordered a second Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless to check if there is a hardware issue, but tbh I'm trying to fix it since 3 days but nothing works. Support channel has stopped responding.

So.. it is quite a bummer. It is the first gaming gear, which does not work properly since a very long time

So,

I have the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless. Installed the most recent version of GG and did all the firmware updates accordingly.

Everything works fine without Sonar. I can hear music, control settings - everything works smoothly.

When I use Sonar, it successfully creates those virtual audio devices: Game, Media, Chat, Microphone. Everything is set up according to the documentation. Windows default audio device is Gaming and default communication device is Microphone. When I play something on YouTube, Spotify I can see that Sonar and Windows get the sound, because the bar is moving, but at the GameDac the L and R bar is not moving at all.
If I change the audio device in Windows settings to for example Chat, everything works and I could potentially listen to music (but it is the Chat audio device which is not good for music). But this shows, that in principle the entire route works.
If I change the audio device in Windows settings to for example Arctis Nova Pro Headphones directly, everything is fine as well. But then, it of course does not use the Equalizer and the features of Sonar.

I tried to reinstall like 10x. I uninstalled the drivers in Device Manager, used different USB ports, used the direct connect via cable via Line Out. But no changes. Game and Media does not work. There is no sound coming to my headphones.

Eh, it's a matter of preference really. I think the Pro has the technically faster switches, but if you don't like linear switches and prefer something more clicky then go for the 9. Both are great keyboards, just a matter of what features you're looking for more

the part about all wireless headsets hissing is not true. i've been shopping around and testing 4-5 wireless headsets, and this arctis nova 7 wireless is the only pair that has ever had it at all, and its really bad

the new GG release contains bugs about (Arctis Nova Pro Wireless). The dock does not show battery percentage if you connect ur headset after program runs. And The system monitor app is not refreshed by itself u need to trigger it somehow. ++ If you plug in a battery inside of the dock, it does not show its charging as long as you change volume level and update the screen.
