I've been a little confused as a newer person in the steel-series tech world (new mouse and keyboard, I have had a headset for the last year and a half)

why does the GG app have so many contradicting aspects to it? like why is there still a way to EQ the headset, but it doesn't work if you use Sonar. Why is there an app for syncing your RGB between the mouse and keyboard, but it doesn't work if you want to use Prism. Also... why is there a way to set the RGB on my mouse... that doesn't work if I am instead using Prism 😅😅😅

Just some very confusing lack of unification within the app.

On top of all of the above... is there a way to stop my Aerox 9 Wireless from flashing white every time I click?

part of it is legacy reasons, part of it is a split between "what's supported natively by the hardware" vs "what is only done via software"

for example, in your first question, you're wondering about sonar EQ vs Headset EQ. the reason it's like this is because sonar allows for MUCH more nuianced customization with the EQ, compared to the basic EQ that's on the headset. but, the one on the headset will still work even if GG is closed or if you use the headset on another device, so the option is still there.

for the mouse/keyboard, Prism does allow syncing of multiple devices at once... but it only supports modern mice/keyboards. So if you have an old legacy device (like old Siberia headsets or the old M800 keyboards), there's still the old PrismSync, but generally Prism is better since there's a UI to see the RGB you have set, how it should look, etc.

but both Prism and Sonar run into an issue that if you have two EQs or two RGB settings, they're going to conflict with each other and cause behavior that you don't expect, so usually turning on one will override the other.... but Engine still shows you the "older" option so you can still use it if you want.

for some context, the version of Engine that's in GG is basically the old standalone Engine that came out nearly 10 years ago, so there's 10 years of legacy support that's stuffed into GG that'll come up in a lot of cases.

Neutral for Rapid Tap means that when both keys are pressed, they cancel each other out and neither are sent as inputs.

Compared to a normal input, where if you hold both keys, both are sent as inputs.

unfortunately the apex 5 does not have an editable meta layer, it's only on 7/9/pro. I think those keys have M1-M6 printed on them since they're just reused from the 7/pro where they do have them.

Go to "Acutation". Go to the right panel and enabl "Rapid Tap" if its not available.
You can use whatever movement keys you prefer, and make sure it is always set to "Last Input Priority".

If it isn't currently available to you, you must update the software, which will also update the firmware for the keyboard.

I fixed it by downloading the 72.0 version and installing it over the previous one, I think the issue was that the installer was trying to run somewhere in the background but failed to start

I'd suggest looking for remnants of the old version. Start by checking Windows Settings > Installed Apps. You could also simply search the drive and remove them manually.
You could also check your restore points and see if Windows set one, then simply roll back to that.

If you do go searching I'd recommend getting something like Everything by voidtools, Ultrasearch by jam-tools, or similar. Or Windows is gonna search your drive for a good while.

well where do we draw the line? what about faster keyboards, faster gpu, cpu, faster ram gives the player an edge what about faster monitors is an advantage omni point switches rapid trigger??? I dont consider them cheating because it isn't artificial input like aimbot you need human input and you also have to learn a new skill even though it is more intuitive and should be more of a norm "rapid tap"

I have the wired nova pro with the gamedac and everytime i plug in the gamedac my PC crashes, this just started today haven't had any issues before this.
Updated windows last night and GG to 72 the night before. My PC is only 2 months old, so i know its not that.

The sound, I’ve gotten used to it

The stabilizers are terrible, especially on the spacebar

I had to replace the spacebar keycap with the up arrow key, that’s how garbage the stabilizers are

And also, the spacebar keycap is obviously heavier than the up arrow keycap

So basically less force required to actuate and press

And also, it removes the sound of the stabilizers

Still dealing with the BS numpad taking up unneeded space (plus it’s the most useless thing for me ever)

It’s also sad that only the 60% layout has customizable actuation point + rapid trigger

Steelseries GG still not working. wont show interface. its been months now i cant access my config. i have bougth at least 5 keyboards and 6 mouse from Steelseries, but somehow they screwing me up with a faulty sofware. i DID try all the troubleshoots, from reinstal to unistalling my VPN. nothing works. its VERY disapointing.

I think something is outta whack with GG/engine, maybe. My apex pro keyboard will randomly act like it's changing profiles, i'll see default pop up on the lcd and my prime wireless mouse lighting will turn off every time i move the mouse. also, it has at least a couple times acted like it wasn't registering clicks.

you can always go into engine and just set the oLED to have a black screen. and then you can go into the oLED menu and turn off the icons so it should just be completely black until you need it for something.

Try doing fully Red, Blue and Green light on the keyboard and see if any keys turns off, that would indicate LEDs that are dead. There's no fix but a replacement unless you have the soldering skills to fix it

You might have a dead LED which can't be fixed without a replacement. Test the keyboard with solid Red, Green and Blue colors

Analog audio devices are headsets/speakers that use the 3.5mm headphone jack as the primary way to connect to the PC or console.

Please note that analog headsets use your on-board audio drivers to run the headset. Due to this, analog headsets are not compatible with SteelSeries Engine and will not show up on the device list in Engine.

There is good news, though! Analog headsets can be used through Sonar. Please make sure your Sonar outputs are set to the on-board audio device that is driving the headset. These are usually named "Realtek" or "Intel" depending on your PC.

If you are having audio issues, here's a few steps to try:

• Reseat all cable connections to verify they are fully plugged in. The 3.5mm connection will require that the cable be plugged in fully for correct audio. Make sure all connections are clean and free of dirt. Additionally, please check that you have the correct end of the cable plugged into your PC, as some SteelSeries Nova headsets have unique cables that must have the correct end plugged into the headset.

• Verify that you are plugging the headset into the correct port. Some PCs may have split headphone and microphone audio jacks, so using a splitter for these devices is required to make the mic work. Check your PC's manual or specs to see which type of headphone port you have. Additionally, if you are on a desktop PC, it's recommended to use the rear audio ports on your motherboard for audio, rather than the ports on your PC case.

• Check for audio driver updates from your PC manufacturer. As analog headsets use your on-board audio drivers to run the headset, it's recommended to check for any driver updates or additional audio software that's provided by your manufacturer. These drivers or management programs may be required for your device to be detected by Windows.

what type of macro are you trying to create? if you want a button press macro, click the "New" button in the bottom left and make sure you select Keypress Macro. That'll open a different menu and allow you to record your macro.

Have an issue where my arctis pro DAC/controller knob doesn't control any volume. When I have the audio pass through going to my speakers I have to use the PC volume control or my keyboard scroll to do so. Even then it doesn't control the main volume, just the 'game' channel.

SteelSeries GG is their software as you are aware. In settings, they have a "Sonar" tab that allows you to create shortcuts for volume up and volume down. If your knob is an addressable keybind, you might be able to assigne the volume scrolling to specific channels

Hi, got a problem with my Arctis Pro Wireless Transmitter box. Since the last update to Version GG 73.0.0, the OLED display of my Transmitter Box no longer shows the System Monitor App. After I received the new version GG 73.0.0, the transmitter display started to flicker. I unplugged the USB plug and plugged it back in. After that, the display worked again, but since then the system monitor has no longer been shown on the transmitter.
(Even if I disable and re enable it in the GG Aps) How can I fix this? thx

Not with the apex pro wl gen 3 at least, I've definitely seen videos of it being done on older models, and I've got a friend with an older model that can do it fine. It seems like they've gutted that functionality to ensure people use their bloated app. I'm probably going to return the keyboard and get a wooting 80he or a made84 pro instead

It must be mouse acceleration then. If it feels like your sens is changing, you might have that option turned on. It’s best to turn that off in general.

I'm writing to you regarding an issue I have with my Aerox 3 Onyx mouse after an update. After updating my mouse, I started experiencing lag, specifically, while moving the mouse, it randomly stops and does not move until I stop and start moving it again. I did not have this issue before installing the update.

Initially, I thought there was something wrong with the mouse, so I returned it to the shop for a warranty replacement, and they gave me a new one. The new mouse worked normally until I installed SteelSeries GG and updated the mouse software, and then the issue occurred again.

I have tried everything to fix it, including resetting the mouse, unplugging and plugging it back in, etc., but nothing has worked. I have searched every corner of the internet and tried all possible solutions, but nothing has helped. You are my last hope for resolving this issue. It is very annoying, especially while gaming, but it even happens on the desktop.

So sometimes (almost all the time) on nova pro wireless dac the battery indicators freeze and stop updating all together, the temps update just fine, even inserting battery to the dac or headphones does not change that, but changing the volume on dac or headphoes does fix it for a time.

There is never a situation in which engine apps should be enabled by default to change keyboard colors. Ever. Turning that on by default is almost the dumbest software design decision I've ever seen in my 23 years of IT support. I have my colors matched and my setup tuned how I want it. I launch LOL and my keyboard changes to garrish vomit colors. I have to DISABLE THIS INDIVIDUALLY FOR ALL THE APPS THAT TURN IT ON BY ITSELF. This is a really, really, really stupid design decision, and should embarass you all.

Hi, My Rival 500 mouse macros stopped working on their own.. Vibrations alerts still work but not the macros themselves.. They were working before and now just stopped on their own ( tried configuring them again and reinstalling, still nothing ). I think it has to do with the last engine update.. it says the apex 9 just got updates to the meta layer lighting. the apex 9 doesn't have rapid trigger, that's only on the apex pros

Hi all, I seem to be having issues were the R and L volume comes out of the wrong side, I have found a few random ways to reset it but nothing that ever sticks. I have updated the firmware on the headphones messed around with the app and sound settings on my PC this only recently started happening. Does anyone no of any fixes for this?

you can upgrade to the newer gen 3 model that steelseries has created. there is wooting as well, which is around the same price as the gen 3

nah cuz i cant find a way to adjust the actuation…

it doesn't have fully adjustable actuation, just two actuation levels (typing mode is 1.5mm, gaming mode is 1.0mm)

you can swap between the two in Engine by clicking on the mode you want or just use the onboard hotkey (steelseries key + I / O)

Hi question, I just bought the Apex Pro gen 3 and was wondering how I can change the num lock (and caps, scroll lock, etc.) color when they are active, because the white led looks very ugly... And I also noticed the gen 3 has no color config options AT ALL, only can be done through Prism. Is that correct? Because if so, that sucks, as it is the worst thing ever created... And lastly, is it possible to change the default color of the keyboard when the software isn't active? Because now when my pc is launching or shutting down it changes the rgb back the the ugly (and very bright) cyan and pink fade effect that is set by default. It also quickly flashes this when switching the quick set profile when I alt+tab, which is very annoying. Thanks!

Yeah Prism is really annoying and works really poorly. I did now manage to at least change the default colors by quitting GG from system tray and then change the RGB through the LED screen menu on the keyboard and overwriting the profile I set in GG (that did not get picked up by the keyboard...).

But it still flashes to black when it switches profiles when I alt+tab to or from a game. And I can't find the option to change the colors of the "active" keys like num lock and caps...

Having tons of trouble with my Apex pro TKL 2023, whenever I use it by tweaking settings the actuation doesn't really work. It seems to only be activated by using the actual keyboard menu rather than actually being able to individually set keys in Steelseries GG, any help? My keyboard is plugged in by cable but it can be wireless but I don't have the stuff to make it wireless. Will my keyboard being wireless fix that?

Hi I have a question so my apex pro mini came today and I installed the software but what I realised is that after changing my rgb through the presets on the software the keyboard settings reset after you close the app does the same thing happen with the actuation is aswell does the whole keyboard go to original settings once the app is closed or is there a way to save your settings so that they can automatically apply once your pc turns on without having to open the app.

Also is there a way to change the brightness of the rbg on the keyboard too

Go the settings in the bottom left corner, scroll down in the left panel. If you see a button called Updates (I forgot the exact name lol), click the button to update it.

for a gamesense app? pretty much all game related apps are made by the game devs, not steelseries, so i don't know why the support team for the game would tell you to ask steelseries

Sorry for the misunderstanding: It was not about any gamesense app, it was an issue with the engine, the steelseries support told me to contact the software team with the techblog website
