Question, tried the new rapid trigger today. My keyboard itself is already weird, 0.2mm actuation point, with enough O-rings so that is also the bottom out distance.

But when I now use rapid trigger, keys become very unstable. As in, if I hold it down, it will suddenly stop actuating. Is this just because of the o-rings mushyness slightly lifting the key, or what is going on?

I think it's not possible to reduce your latency if you have a bad gear

and you take medicine too

i wasnt saying orings are bad. the problem is with the rapid trigger activation zone. using orings WITH RAPID TRIGGER will cause problems because ure always going to be in the rt activation zone when u bottom out. since the omnipoint switch is wobbly, it will press and release randomly even when u hold down the key.

The custom actuation feature is not available on any Apex keyboards except for the Apex Pro (including the mini). Only the Apex Pro, which utilizes Hall effect sensors with its magnetic switches, can implement this feature. If you're interested, please read on for a detailed explanation.

The Apex 7 and 9 series, which have red, blue, brown, and optical switches, have a physically predetermined actuation point. This is a hardware limitation that cannot be addressed with software. However, magnetic switches in the Apex Pro do not have a physical contact point. They incorporate Hall effect sensors that detect the voltage difference (Hall voltage) induced by the magnetic field of a magnet on the key switch shaft. In essence, while switches found in models other than the Pro can only detect a simple "on or off" state, the magnetic switches in the Pro, using the Hall effect, can detect varying degrees of magnetic force in response to input. Think of it as similar to the difference between a button and an analog stick on a controller.

While I am not an engineer at SteelSeries and cannot guarantee the accuracy of this entire explanation, it is certain that custom actuation cannot be implemented in other Apex line keyboards that do not have the omnipoint switch.

Hi, i don't play CS but noticed something in StarRail which might explain a few less obvious issues in other games. When e.g. W is pressed for movement and you slightly move your hand to press other keys as well (interact, weapon change, abilities, whatever) this can already cause sufficient change in actuation level in the W key to cause a short reset. I assume this can lead to barely noticeable strange/slowed movement in a lot of games. It is just extremely visible in StarRail because whenever you stop walking the characters have a very long 'stop walking' animation.
Long story short: Until there are additional configuration options (specifically a bottom dead zone for the reset) I will not use this otherwise really neat feature.

Having an issue ever since Windows updated today. If I don't have the GG app open, the Apex Pro Mini starts pressing keys on its own and the top row of keys flashes randomly. Can't change profiles and eventually the keyboard stops responding to any inputs. Restarts/disconnecting cable from the keyboard doesn't fix the issue

Just tested it in GG, if I change the Config the same issue happens. Top rows of keys flashes and keyboard stops responding to any input.

Yeah I give up, thanks for the help though! I could no longer save configurations after a fresh install of GG and firmware update. I would click save after setting the DEFAULT bindings (which were disabled for some reason in every profile), then the keyboard starts glitching and pressing buttons on its own.

That's wild. I'm coming from a 65% custom with qmk and VIA support, so I could bind any number of keys to be function keys (including function keys on different layers, so i.e. I could press two function keys at once to activate a third layer). A lot of the bottom row isn't that useful to me (win key, right alt, right ctrl, right win) so I used them on my old board as function keys. For example my left windows key was a function key so I could have one easily reachable from my left hand.

I just got the apex pro mini and the main thing that frustrates me about this is that I was hoping to be able to use right control as a function key, then the cluster to the left as arrow keys. But I don't want right control to be my only function key, as that is very out of the way and requires using two hands to use the meta layer for anything other than the arrow keys.

I had a lot of layered binds that I could use one handed on both sides of the keyboard because I could assign all of the bottom row keys that I didn't use to activate function layers

Off the top of my head, I don't think you can disable on-board profiles on the Mini. I believe you can on the TKL via the oLED screen, but I don't believe such a function was ported to the Mini. Alternatively, you can use the Launch Configuration binding in Engine.

I believe there's a function to turn it off. Try FN + Win key or the SteelSeries button + Win key

It's so that you can avoid hitting the Windows key while gaming

if you're updating the firmware, gotta make sure you follow the instructions exactly. both the dongle AND the keyboard need to be plugged in at the same time, and the keyboard needs to have it's mode switch set to the center (off)

And what I don't understand is that the last step says to press Enter or OK, but I don't know how to press it when the power is off.

there's no 'off/on' for mk like there is other games, and there's no seperate mk1 app, i assume the mk11 app is working for mk1 too, as it probably recognises it as the same thing, so if there was a way for me to turn off the mk11 app, i'm sure it'd turn off the custom lighting with mk1 open, i just don't know how to... turn it off? lol

the on/off button only turns on when the game is detected, so it's something to bring up to the MK devs (since the apps are made by third parties and not steelseries)

same with the app for factorio, mostly just flashes when being hit or armoring up but you'd be looking at the screen anyways so the keyboard flashing is just immersion

Which keyboard? Check your LEDs by doing one solid keyboard on the whole thing. You might have some defective LEDs

for mice i think it's mostly software. the mouse i think will save things like power options and CPI, but keybinds aren't saved.

IIRC, simple keybinds should actually save to the mouse (like changing a button from A to B) but macros won't save, etc.
