I'm confused on how non stand users interact with stands.

if they bumped into a stand would they walk right through it?
what would happen if a stand was willingly interacting with them (like picking them up for example) and they tried to attack the parts of the stand that was in contact with them? would their attack go through the stand and hit them?

Stands basically work in a sort of "i can touch you but you cant touch me"

People will phase through a stand, but a stand can make contact with people

although its not a hard rule of "only stands can affect other stands"

stands can phase through stuff (like star platinum phasing through jotaro's chest), and stands can interact with stuff (like star platinum squeezing jotaro's heart)

they can choose whether to phase through objects or touch them, even both at the same time

but if they decide to touch an object, they're vulnerable to being affected by that object to an extent

for example, if you decide to tie two cars on both ends of star platinum (while he's willingly trying to interact with the physical environment) and drive off in opposite directions, you'd rip star platinum apart

or if star platinum tried to punch a spike, he would get stabbed by the spike
